There are still plenty of songs not available through Apple Music that you have to purchase if you want them.

#InconvenientTruth

It's not inconvenient. Content deals, just like Amazon has. Let me clearly point this out. The only app on the current appletv that is allowed to stream and purchase is Apple's iTunes. All other services are subscriber streaming. AppleTV is a closed system, so Apple can do whatever they want in their CLOSED system. They have no obligation to allow someone else in there. That changes with the new appletv.

This is more to do with Amazon not wanting to sell the other 2 big streaming devices. How hard is it to add AirPlay and Cast functionality?

I hear ya. Actually, there is an agnostic device: Roku. Unfortunately, its UI looks like hot garbage. But on the plus side, it offers a ton of apps and has had universal search across some of the most popular apps for awhile now. It's still missing HBO Now but that's coming soon. When it arrives, it will be the only set-top platform to offer Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, Crackle, CBS All Access, Sling TV, plus UltraViolet-affiliated services like Vudu and CinemaNow.

RoKu cannot be considered agnostic if it doesn't have Apple's iTunes or any of Apple's services on it. Please don't write back and say that's Apple's walled garden. I'm just clearing up your not-so-correct post.

That's not what I said. I said Walmart doesn't remove products that directly compete with their own brands, because it's in their best interest to have people shop at their store no matter what they're buying.

Also, Bose has always been a competitor to Apple. Apple sells their own sound products, EarPods, those Earbuds they have, HiFi, etc. So they didn't drop Bose just because of that, and they sell Bose now.

I'm also not really defending Apple. I'm not sure where you got that from. I'm stating that this is an odd move on Amazon's part. The excuse of customer confusion is a ******** one, and that this isn't going to win anyone over. People will just buy Apple Tvs and Chromecasts from their respective manufacturers, and have less incentive to subscribe to Amazon Prime. To me, it's a stupid decision on Amazon's part.
How would you know why Walmart removes products? They remove a lot of products and add others, your point is ridiculous.

What am I missing? Amazon is free to put an app for Amazon Video on the new Apple TV....something doesn't add up.

The main issue isn't that you won't be able to buy the new Apple TV on Amazon. The main issue is that you won't be able to get Amazon Prime Video on the new Apple TV. Who cares if you can't buy Apple TV on Amazon, you can get it on everywhere else. But not being Apple to get Amazon Prime on Apple TV is a big deal.

Also Apple has Amazon Prime apps already for the iPhone and IPad and has a SDK developer kit & apps can be universal across IOS & TVOS. So I doubt Apple is blocking Amazon Prime from being on their devices as it is already on the iPhone and IPad.

ok - got it, thanks for the info...

Does apple allow integration of their services on any third party tv products?

Might change with the new Apple TV. That app approval process has not been explored at all yet. Apple still has the final say in what goes on to compete with their baked-in services.

I don't think they want to, same reason they wont support chromecast or android tv boxes.

They will lose customers, though. I'm much less likely to renew Amazon Prime, if I can't use it on my TV. (I was already on the fence, because I can only use it on my laptop and tablet, and I don't want to buy a different TV box).

I must've missed something. Is there something documented that shows that Apple forcefully blocked Amazon from creating the Amazon Video app for TV? Because you certainly make it seem like it.

You're right, that is my assumption. But given that Prime is nearly ubiquitous across most other streaming-capable devices, it sure does seem like the decision was on Apple's side. But an assumption is an assumption, not a fact, so I could be wrong. It just seems that way: Amazon doesn't seem to care where they sell their Prime subscriptions and digital content, so if Apple wanted Prime on the new Apple TV (or even the current one), I doubt Amazon would say no.

Stop it, they did not take Bose out of the stores for shelf space, they did it because of beats. Jesus h christ.
Blam bla, rah, rah, sis boom ba. Wave them. Adios for good.

I see, can't argue it anymore and just walk away. Let me ask you this question. If you're in apple's shoes and buy Beats, what would you do? Take out some other products to make room for your new brand along side Bose? If so, you're admitting there is limited space. I don't know where you get the idea that retail space is magically unlimited. Or would your rather have apple only carried their new brand only online, like they currently do with Bose?

I'm sure they do. However, they continue to sell products which compete with their own brands (Sam's Choice, Great Value, Equate, Mainstays, etc.). This is to be expected because they are a megamart, not a boutique like Apple.
Sorry, but Walmart drops a lot of products and adds others. You really have no idea why they are dropped.

Why would Apple then allow them to have iOS apps then?

Meh, I will just watch Amazon stuff on my Xbox or PS4. Definitely not buying any of their fire devices.

No idea why they don't just make an app for the new Apple TV, they already have an app for iPhones and iPads.

It's just silly on Amazon's part. I like Amazon Prime IV. If I can't watch it from my Apple TV, I will watch it from my Samsung Smarthub, or AirPlay it from my iPad. These big corporations, including Apple, can be so childish sometimes.

He's ignoring logic and blocking anyone who disagrees with him. Don't bother.

The main page thread was mostly 'good, bose sucks anyway' comments... or shall we dispense with the bull and call them what they were, "excuses" for it. I saw nothing that could be remotely classified as uproar here. It was much more the opposite. Same with fitbit...
This place is always in an uproar about Apple. You're closing your eyes on purpose to that truth. Even with this article where Amazon is also blocking off Google's product, there are people here only jumping on Apple and ignoring Google. This is Amazon's petty crap. And for those who keep saying that Apple blocked Amazon from putting their App on the TV, I'll believe that when I see proof it. Who's to say Amazon didn't create the App to keep people from buying an TV. Nobody here knows the real truth, unless something otherwise has been documented, I would love to see it.

They all seem to desperately want us to use their streaming device. Apple recently refused to allow Apple Music to work on chromecast audio. I'm not liking this tv streaming war. I like for all my content to work on all devices.
