Funny how it's bad when anyone else does it but good when Apple does, like dropping Bose when they bought beats. All stores get to pick and choose what they sell.

There's a very large difference between a high cost per square foot in a mall vs large industrial warehouses. I just can't help you out there.

There is no antitrust here. Macy's does not get investigated because they don't carry some competing brands!
I'm sorry that's a very poor example using Macys. In this situation with Amazon they have decided to NO LONGER carry a competing product. Not carrying a competing product in the first place is not the same as dumping a competing product that you were selling. That can turn into anti-trust.

It is downright frustrating that Apple supports other streaming television services but not Prime. The only reason is because Amazon competes with them in hardware. It's just Apple getting back at Amazon getting back at Apple.

The new Apple TV should add Amazon Prime Instant Video. It's better for Apple's customers and will drive more Apple TV sales-- they would probably make more off additional hardware than a reduction in content sales. Most people already have Amazon Prime Video in their TV stack anyway -- I have THREE in my TV stack already, and I would get rid of all of them if Apple TV had Prime.

Come on, Apple.

Well, they just lost one Prime subscriber here. I'm sure there will be more. I bet this decision will hurt Amazon more than it helps.

What is apple to do? It's not like they'll prevent the app being submitted. Why do I know? Because they haven't for iOS. AppleTV is currently a closed system. They get to pick. It won't be when AppleTV4 is released.

That fact does get lost around here, doesn't it? That Apple does the exact same thing, yet it gets a pass.

I must've missed something. Is there something documented that shows that Apple forcefully blocked Amazon from creating the Amazon Video app for TV? Because you certainly make it seem like it.

that'll show them!

no, not really - I doubt any meaningful number of people will boycott amazon because you have to buy your apple tv somewhere else.

The company making this inconvenient is apple. I'm in apple eco system, but I also have amazon prime because it's a great service all around. My impression is that it's apple that not letting the amazon service be available on the service, making me use the smart TV function to get amazon, and having to run other cables form tv to my audio system, etc...

The main issue isn't that you won't be able to buy the new Apple TV on Amazon. The main issue is that you won't be able to get Amazon Prime Video on the new Apple TV. Who cares if you can't buy Apple TV on Amazon, you can get it on everywhere else. But not being Apple to get Amazon Prime on Apple TV is a big deal.

Also Apple has Amazon Prime apps already for the iPhone and IPad and has a SDK developer kit & apps can be universal across IOS & TVOS. So I doubt Apple is blocking Amazon Prime from being on their devices as it is already on the iPhone and IPad.

Please show us a list of when Apple has done this exact same thing and got a pass? I distinctly remember when Apple was pulling Bose out of their stores because of their acquisition of Beats. This forum and a few others on the internet went into an uproar against Apple attempting this. But go ahead, I'm waiting for you to show me where Apple has gotten passes for their adverse antics against their competitors.

Looks like I'm not going to be buying an Apple TV to replace my failing second generation model. Just need something to continue to play my photos from iPhoto as a screen saver.

Oops, finger on iPad slip and replied to wrong area...but anyway
I'm sure if Amazon was willing to give up the 30% App Store sign ups like the rest, then we would have a Amazon Prime app.

Keep those Pom pom's waving. Shelf space had nothing to do with it, buying beats did. There was a long thread about it ere. Apparently if you claim to know what I have heard of you are lying.
You mean like Apple no longer carrying bose?
They do carry Bose in their online store. If you had limited shelf space, would you carry your own product or a competitors. Of course yours, there's no question about it BUT apple still carries Bose online. All Amazon has is online and they just decide to wipe it out. I don't get why you don't understand that. Apple STILL CARRIES BOSE!!! Since you clearly have some type of disbelief, here is the link to the online Apple Store with Bose products. http://www.apple.com/us/search/Bose?src=serp

I don't understand why Apple acts so threatened by Amazon Prime. They're cool with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, but Amazon has a paltry selection of a few streaming movies on their Prime subscription and Apple blocks it from Apple TV? I don't get it. I know for a fact that many of my friends have gone for Roku or XBox and skipped out on Apple TV altogether because of its lacking of Amazon Prime. Honestly I find the selection of movies on Prime to be pitiful, but some of my friends are huge fans of Transparent and I will definitely be using Prime when the new Woody Allen series debuts.

I don't follow your logic. There are tons of other streaming apps on the current generation Apple TV. If Apple wanted Prime, they would have Prime. It may be closed as in there is no app store, but it's not like Apple couldn't load it like they do all the others.

And I was actually referring to the new Apple TV. In every video/screen shot I've seen, including searching across services, I have never seen Prime show up. If it shows up soon after launch, great. But as of right now it just feels like Apple is still being exclusionary. I would be happy to be wrong.

Support Amazon completely. Love my apple products, but they would go before I cease using Amazon Prime. I am sure Apple is blocking Amazon video because they want a cut and Amazon balked. Really irrelevant since both Fire and Apple TV can't compete with Roku.

Wasn't Bose suing Beats as well? Probably had something to do with it. That said, it's not a good example. Apple Stores sell Apple products and some accessories for those products. Amazon is just an online mall. It's like Walmart removing Frosted Flakes because it competes with their store brand flakes.
