File away, prepare to lose. Apple stopped selling Bose when they bought beats, you going to file against them also? You going to file anti trust because Apple does not permit Amazon streaming? It works both ways.
Oh really? I just did a search on apple.com and found four Bose products for sale. Perhaps they were removed from the physical stores because those stores have limited space and Apple obviously is going to make room for its products first. But let's also not forget Bose telling NFL athletes they can't wear Beats headphones on field or in press conferences because of the deal they have with the NFL.

Bye bye Amazon prime. I have 8 ish months left on my prime and watch via my phone. Won't bother if they don't have an app when they have the choice. After that, Netflix again :)

Wow, you guys really don't get it. Apple (and apparently Google) threw the first punches. Amazon probably has sales data that tells them they are the #1 seller of Chromecast devices, and the #2 seller of Apple TV boxes. They've probably submitted apps and channels to Apple and Google multiple times over the last couple of years, and been rejected or delayed or ignored often enough that they've decided to respond. Apple TV is an also-ran at this point, and if they want to be the market leader, they have to support all of the biggest content providers.

I have to think you don't get it. AppleTV is still currently a closed system. Until AppleTV4 is released, it will be closed. That's why they didn't get on it before. Last time I checked, Amazon Prime is available for iOS which is an "open" system, by open I mean any developer can submit an app. I can't speak for Google nor would I care to.

I wish Amazon Prime videos were on the Apple TV, why can't anyone make an agnostic device so I don't need 3 different products to accommodate my style of watching.

It is not currently possible to submit applications for the new Apple TV. When Apple begins accepting tvOS submissions (usually about a week or two before launch), Amazon will have no trouble

Amazon knows the new Apple TV box is coming in less than a month. If they were planning to release an app for it, they wouldn't be discontinuing sales of Apple TV now.

Something has gone wrong behind the scenes.

Reading comprehension doesn't involve making things up. While Amazon may hope that people believe they've been blocked from working with those devices, they didn't say that, and it's unlikely to be true.

Exactly. Why wouldn't Apple offer them exactly the same terms they gave Netflix?
They just want better terms (i.e. certainly not pay Apple anything).

If they were really "blocked", they would have said so very clearly.

"Customer confusion" is just marketing nonsense. This just a power play. Apple does it all the time. (And it's totally fine up to the point where antitrust regulations kick in.)

Bad examples. Those devices aren't one trick ponies. They do other things beside stream video. In fact, streaming video might not be a big selling point on those devices. I certainly don't consider video streaming an important feature on a phone or Blu-Ray player or DVR.

The same can be said of pretty much every converged device. They are all, by design, suitable for more than one task. The new ATV, for example, is a gaming console, a media player, a shopping gateway, a home automation hub, and whatever else develops come up with. Maybe Inuit will release a version of TurboTax for it, and I'll do my taxes on the ATV next year.

What is an important feature for you isn't an important for someone else.

Amazon seems to be targeting specifically Google and Apple, and justifying with a bogus policy about incompatibility with Prime Video that they're aren't applying equal to all products in their store.

Apple is in no way preventing Amazon from including an Amazon Prime app for the AppleTV.

Amazon wants them to bundle it with the AppleTV so it has it included right out the box.

Maybe Amazon Prime Movie/TV Show streaming came to Apple than I would worry about this but since both companies want to act like the Cable companies trolling skillz it was expected.

Their Fire TV devices are actually doing quite well. They were the top selling streaming media devices for the first quarter of this year and have sold over 4.5 million units after about a year in the market. For sales in 2014 they actually overtook Apple, not bad for their first offering.

Interesting sales data. I'm not sure where they sell them, but not in my area. Everyone I know has Apple TV or a Roku. And I think that the new Apple TV coming out next month is going to sell like wildfire. (pun intended)

How about Apple not allowing Amazon streaming on TV ?
AppleTV currently is not an app submit-able system like iOS is. It's currently closed. They get to pick and choose. Pretty moronic of Amazon to do it RIGHT as Apple is gearing up to allow them to do exactly what they're complaining about. Sounds like they're pushing their weight around to try and harm/slow AppleTV4 sales whenever it comes out.

Glad I don't watch TV any more...I'm sure there is some great programs out there, but I don't have time to sit for hours at a time.
The system is broken. Before you had individual channels, now you have individual 'apps'. If I have to buy several different 'box tops' or gadgets...forget it.

And Amazon doesn't need Apple. That's a fact too!

I am an Amazon Prime whore and will continue to order from Amazon. This affects me in no way at all. Apple needs to stop being stubborn and allow Prime on their devices.

THEY DO. I have Amazon Prime app on both my iPhone and on my IPad. Apple is not stopping Amazon Prime from being on their devices. Have you heard of IOS universal cross platform.

If Amazon won't write the app (because they want to hock their FireTV and that's the ONLY thing that gives them any selling point), someone probably will. Maybe me.

So why are these apps available in the App Store? I can download a Kindle or Prime app right now on my iPad if I wanted to. Spotify, Rdio, Google apps all exist in the App Store even though they compete with Apple's apps/services.
Mobile devices are a different market than home TV. These companies are competing over "the future of TV", as Apple put it.

My theory: Amazon approached Apple about making an Amazon streaming app for tvOS, Apple turned them down, and this is Amazon's retaliation. Perhaps they hope to put enough pressure on Apple to allow the app through.

How can you compare? Apple isn't an online mall like Amazon is. They sell mostly Apple products and a handful of third party accessories that complement their first party hardware or play well with the ecosystem. That isn't even close to what Amazon does.
Exactly! You're making my point even stronger! Apple was getting tons of flack right here on MR for attempting to remove Bose off their shelves now that Apple owns and promotes Beats headphones. And what Apple was doing was much more logical than what Amazon is doing since Apple's stores are small local retail stores. Apple is not a major online mall like Amazon is (your own words) so Amazon is looking like an insecure company being this petty.

This whole thing smells of sensationalism, guerrilla news marketing to get Amazon thrust into the limelight as some sort of victim. Since we all know that Apple is releasing a TV soon that will allow custom apps.
Is that what Apple was doing when they dropped Bose after buying beats? Playing some sort of victim?

Please do, I think their current app is crap and purposely confusing by mixing Free prime and non free content to catch people off guard to pay up for some content.

cant blame em...does apple sell androids?
No, but that's not the point.

This is a very interesting change for Amazon. If you ask the question, "What does Amazon sell?" the answer *was* "Everything they can." Now, the answer is more complicated. This is a sign that their core business strategy is changing.

Funny how it's bad when anyone else does it but good when Apple does, like dropping Bose when they bought beats. All stores get to pick and choose what they sell.
