Not the whole episode per se, just those particular parts. Like how the characters narrowly escape peril in unrealistic situations, but for sake of the story they do...even when other similar events in the same show don't seem to work out for other characters, if that makes sense.
Exhibit A - On the bridge with Heath, Tara is overrun by zombies that are literally all over her and is flipped over the bridge with said zombies, yet survives unbitten or scratched.
Exhibit B - Aaron being yanked underwater in the lake with surrounding zombies pulling him under, yet he out snorkels them and makes it to the boat.
Exhibit C - Bob couldn't even wade water while scavenging the basement pantry back in season 5 without receiving a fatal flesh wound.
Meh, guess its a mixture of fate/story character arc and progression. I'm sure in the comics its not as noticeable, but on screen things like that stand out, to me at least.
As far as the split up, that recipe is quite repetitive for TWD, sometimes its good, sometimes not so good. But with the band back together, it definitely allows for everything to seem cohesive rather than getting tidbits scattered throughout and connecting the dots after time traveling around to different points in time/location.
One can only hope when Carol finds out the brutality Negan has inflicted by executing Glenn and Abe, she will become her old self. I wonder if Morgan would be swayed to change his ways by those same tragedies though...
