The problem with this episode for me was that once we got some zombie action, it was beyond silly as usual. They see this herd coming a mile away, wait to they are literally on top of them to get in the truck because they needed every last explosive they could get ( that they didn't even know about until a few minutes before), of course the windows on the truck are not rolled up but not one zombie scratches or bites anyone. Meanwhile, rick and machone drive towards the truck instead of waiting for the truck to come to them, somehow accelerate and brake at the same exact time, and then push their way through the herd, again no scratches or bites, to get in the truck and drive off in the direction they came from. There's no drama when it's this easy to get away from the bad guys.

The herd seen was ridiculous. It was very disappointing.

Same sentiments. At times it seems far too unrealistic. Rick at least should have been bitten or scratched with as many zombies in his immediate proximity.

They could have at least made up for the bad graphics with the approaching herd and then vehicle/cable slice up.

At least for a mid season premiere, I expected a little better with this scene.

cant get sling tv at this point in time, job issue :( cant watch TWD
i should get a call this week hopefully

Good luck!

I wonder if Rick smiled because he thought he found his army...?

All of these mysterious communities/colonies are certainly play a part in some larger scale faction war...seems the hard part is convincing.

Side note...it would seem The Saviors are given too much credit when it comes to controlling or ruling everything/everyone yet undiscovered thriving communities exist right under their noses and our characters seem to stumble upon them rather easily.
-Alexandria did for a while
-Resettled Beach Women group
-Possibly this new unknown group

Side note #2....
crazy how Morgan is just foreshadowing EVERYTHING like some sort of Prophet. Even in the auditorium, he mentioned singling out Negan, to "capture" him as an alternative...unless there's a plot twist, major comic nod there o_O

That's how it struck me too, although there is a group of young adults acting in a threatening way.

Ok since i cant see the show due to financial issues, can someone give me spoilers or highlights on what happened tonite, please!

Rick's group goes to the Kingdom to propose they join forces. Carol is out on her own somewhere near by. The Saviors go to Alexandria looking for Darryl who has a death sentence on his head. A bunch of strangers, young adults surprise Rick's group and he smiles, although they are pointing guns at him.

It was almost an obligatory, gotta have some zombies moment. It did not bother me, zombies are not my current focus, kicking Negan's butt is. :)

Thank you, maybe rick is thinkng he can convince them to join his army against negan

A lot of people are griping online about the episode not being exciting enough. I liked how they were just setting the stage for things to come. Not every episode can be a full throttle violent melee.

there was a discussion before on this thread about TWD's slow parts and i told them the same thing. every episode cant be pure action, there is a story to tell. if you want some thing with more action go see a micheal bay film lol

I want to learn more about Negan's back story.

Sounds like you've read the comics.

Actually I haven't, just a few people at work and others who have "accidentally" spoiled some of what happens with Negan. But I'm also a fan of how things different and are similar to the comics at the same time. But maybe I'll start reading some of the comic sooner or later before the show ends...I mean how much longer can they drag this out? I'd guess 2-3 more seasons tops, no more than 5 max but that's really pushing it.

What I'm about to say is off topic but compares TWD to The 100 (if anyone is also watching that)

in the current season of The 100, the overall immediate threat of Alie/City of Light is eliminated but now they must work together and brace for radiation in the current season
...like so, maybe in TWD they could actually find a cure while learning how to exist with each other while actually rebuilding civilization. It seems TWD is stuck with threats, but no real end goal or progress in sight. Yes the characters evolve and grow, but at the end of the day, what have they done for civilization as a whole? Are generators back online, government back to a democracy, order restored? I guess in a sense each community has all of these things, but bigger picture, nationwide or even globally, will Earth ever be back to some aspect of how it was before the outbreak?..

I was always wanted more to happen at the CDC in Season 1. To see more about what happened globally. It would be great if they could find some other research facility to get some of that info.

Yea, after the explosion and what the doctor had discovered with his wife, it seemed like they just totally went the opposite direction. But at any means I guess survival was the more pressing issue.

Maybe FTWD will explore this option possibly?

I haven't watched one minute of Fear the Walking Dead yet. Is it any good?

It's somewhat different compared to TWD. Some like it, others not as much. Hard to say if someone would or wouldn't like it.

Oh Man...

"New Best Friends" was a nice piece of work.

Father G is a G!
Daryl finally understands...but at what cost?
Morgan is still holding onto something.
Seems Tara's intel on the beach group will eventually come in handy.
Clearly, someone has peed in Rosita's Cheerios.
About Rick's hand...potential comic book nod?

One thing that was odd, was the interaction between
Carol and Daryl during their fireplace conversation...it seemed like she knew someone from the group had died because she was crying before even asking, even though in the end Daryl lied. Either she rehearsed the scene too many times or maybe just a cry our of fear or worry that something had happened, since she still does not know.

What a bat **** crazy episode. And not in a good way. Those people in the dump were right out of a mad max movie. It was laughable. The music was from a bad sci fi movie from the 70s. They talked like they lived a thousand years in the future after a nuclear war and didn't speak English properly. Take him to the up up up. What the ****????

Someone please explain what the hell happened with the boat and where did the guns they found go and how someone set up Gabriel to go to the dump and how rick found him there. I don't get that whole thing at all.

What I gathered from the episode is, according to their motto "We don't, bother we take" or something like that is that rather than disturb the peace, the move in silence/stealth to obtain what they want. They apparently watched Rick and Aaron take the supplies from the boat, but I guess since they had been watching it first or for a long while, they deemed it theirs?

When they came back, they brought the guns back to Alexandria and thought they hid them out of sight...(little did they know they were being watched by the Mad Max crew).

After the rescue outside of the Junkyard, Father G explained to Rick he heard a noise while on watch and went to check it out but was kidnapped in by them in the process. (Hence the mysterious figure watching him while on post at the end of the midseason finale and mid season premiere).

Basically Rick channeled his inner Sherlock Holmes and followed clue that led to successful rescue, even in the midst of everyone else doubting Father G and assuming he ran off with weapons, food and supplies.

But I do agree, their jargon was very odd.
