I missed the Mar 11 episode drats! Hope to catch up this week. Praise DVR. :) I saw a preview of the Season Finale and it seems like that finale takes place on the farm. Whee there be a prison in the survivors future? :D

Yep, season finale looks like it'll be at the barn and looks like it's going to be great. Man I love this show.

Tonight's revelation (people turning into walkers without a prerequisite bite) has a parallel in the comic. In fact, in the comic Rick discovered this because of Shane, when his body reanimated after being buried. I believe GoKyu and others had pointed this out earlier in this thread.

Another rather interesting comic parallel that I hoped would be shown in some form: Carl shot Shane when he saw Shane about to attack his dad. (Shane was alive at that point in the comic, though, and they hadn't yet left Atlanta.)

I caught this too. A little bit of a nod to the comic book!

Here is how I am hoping how the season finale plays out. They get off the farm after being surrounded and over ran by the walkers. The pull up to a location and end the season as they are all looking into the fence and gates of a prison! End the season.

Total speculation on my part... but could the Governor = Merle Dixon?

The show seemed to imply that he had made it off the rooftop in Atlanta... and if you've read the graphic novel, you know what the Governor does to Rick. Would seem to fit perfectly. You know the saying, [possible spoiler]hand for a hand and all...[end possible spoiler]

Also, please give us Michonne. As much as I like Daryl, I hope the writers haven't decided to make Daryl a pseudo-Michonne-all-around-badass character. I think he'll have enough drama to get involved in if the writers do decide that the Governor = Merle.

I think we will see her in the next season, correction, I hope we see her next season!

That is an interesting take on the governor's roll, however I don't see it and I hope that isn't the way they pay homage to the comic with what happens to Rick at the hand of the governor! :D (bad pun I know)

The only issue I can see with them finding the prison is this, a good chunk of the comics, they stay at the prison, the stay is longer, to me, then when they are on the farm. I am reading folks talking about how they are bored or want them to leave the farm after only one season. I hope they are not disappointed with the length of time that might be spent there. However there is a lot of action and I hope, please for the love of god, hope some of the main characters meet their fate the way they do in the comic!

I'm glad Carl sacked up and did what needed to be done. I guess Shane was wrong about him. The bodies reanimating without bites or scratches is scary. So, does everyone eventually become walkers?

So I'm guessing that the virus is airborne

I'd like to know that myself...I'd check with the CDC but they done blown up.

I always find it interesting that they would hack up a "walker" with a knife or whatever and have blood all over their faces....lips, eyes, nose, etc... Personally I would stick with bullets. There has to be so many bullets, raid some gun stores or a military base. Dicks, cabela's, gander mountain, or maybe a bass pro shop.

That could be it as well. I'd definitely be careful not to get any of their blood on me, I don't know what they're thinking haha.

I think Rick already knew people would turn in to walkers when they die, regardless of being bitten or not. The secret that the CDC scientist told him, the dead prison guard walkers without bite marks, shooting the bad guys in the head in the bar (Rick shot the fat one in the head after he was already down).

I believe Rick already knew from the CDC guy and wasn't telling anyone.

Oh! Totally forgot about those things. Good call.

Oh, that's why he broke the kids neck and knew he would be a walker. Bet he didn't could on Darryl finding him with a broken neck and didn't could on Rick stabbing Shane.

Shane broke the kid's neck and he did not know that he'd reanimate. Shane's whole plan was a little hair-brained anyways. He basically thought it up in a few minutes and didn't think it through. Lots of holes in his plan.

1. He locked the barn back up after taking the kid.

2. He says that he must have gotten out through the rafters, but Darryl (I think) had boarded them up earlier in the day.

3. He takes Rick to a place to kill him, but it's within eyeshot of the farmhouse.

Shane was many things, but "thinker" wasn't one of them.

You can say that again. Though I wonder if this was because he was turning, and his brain was just messed up. Well I can't wait until Sunday night.

Here's my take on the infection aspect of the show. Everyone's already infected. When they got to the CDC, the CDC Guy takes a blood sample from everyone and says, that it's just what he expected ... at the time, I took that to mean that no one was infected. Looking back, it seems like he knew that everyone was infected and he was looking for someone who had immunity ... which they didn't have. This is probably the secret that CDC Guy told Rick and what Rick was about to tell the guy (African-american guy with son) over the radio.

So, when you die (of causes other than trauma to the brain), you reanimate. If you get bitten by a zombie, the infection kills you, then you turn.

Not sure how they're gonna take it, but perhaps the baby is the key. Maybe the baby will end up having immunity/anti-bodies to the zombie disease. But at the rate that time passes per episode, this might have to wait until Season 16.

It can be like this in the comics also. There are some slow spots in the comics too.

I won't comment on the baby just yet, because part of me wants that part of the show to be like the comics.

Do you have some inside info? That sounds 100% logical.

I've never read the comic, so I'm gonna stop talking about the baby. I don't want to spoil next season for myself.

Do you have some inside info? That sounds 100% logical.
No inside info. I'm just a huge TV nerd who overanalyzes my favorite shows. You shoulda seen me when Lost and Battlestar Galactica were still on.

There's a couple of guys at work who are like me and we talk about the episodes and compare "notes". Sometimes we'll pick up things that the others miss and it helps to fill in the gaps.

I also read a few different forums for TWD stuff, and much of these insights are out there. I try to avoid threads that spoil it though.

PLUS - also wanted to note that I'm a huge zombie nerd. If you haven't already, I recommend reading Max Brooks' two books. The first is the Zombie Survival Guide. It's a sort of handbook on how to survive a zombie apocolypse. The second is World War Z. It's a "journal" that interviews survivors of the zombie apocolypse. Both are great reads.

***SPOILERS!***

The showdown with Shane was inevitable and despite the holding pattern in the farm, this is a case where the tempo of the show again outshines the comic in allowing the Rick vs Shane conflict to percolate for 2 seasons with a buildup vs the relatively quick end in the comic. In the comic the basis of the Rick vs Shane conflict was only because Shane did not want to lose Lori. In the show they took the time to develop the troubled nature of Shane's character.

Easy for me to say, but in the show, Rick should have killed Shane, or left him for the walkers, after the first attempt on his life. Although I think Shane had the ability to be a valuable part of a group, his track record, speaks for itself. I thought the way Rick killed Shane in the show was just outstanding.

As far as the "soap opera" comic, any depiction involving people is going to have drama. Might as well make it interesting soap opera vs boring realistic drama. ;)

Fingers crossed.

Yes, apparently everyone is infected with whatever that reanimates the dead. When you get bitten, an aggravated infection (separate?) kills you. And when you die you reanimate as a walker. I hate to ask this but was this the reveal for the TV show? From my comic reading I knew this was the case, but I don't remember it being discussed in the show other than the secret the CDC guy told Rick in the show.

It's an aspect they don't really address in the show. There could be a difference between having saliva being introduced into the blood stream via a bite vs say getting blood in your mouth. For example, snake venom in the blood stream is different than sucking venom out of a wound.

I believe Rick already knew from the CDC guy and wasn't telling anyone.

That is the indication. :)

Now that it is being mentioned here and remembering the scene, I am in agreement with you..... Good catch.

I agree 100%, but we have science about snake venom and nearly every disease known to man. We know how you catch most diseases. We know nothing of "zombies" (because it's science fiction, at least for now), I would be keeping all forms of zombie excretions away from me or at least try my best. As a matter of fact, I would try not to touch their skin, hair or anything that I know they've come in contact with. I'd probably wear latex gloves when in new areas as well, and maybe a breathing mask.

Really, that is the key. It's not worth over thinking it. :)

I completely forgot about what the CDC scientist told him. It seems that Hershel's daughter was right, they're all *********.
