I really thought Jordin was the only one there who made it so I didn't totally waste an hour watching the other "performances".

Of all the songs that Barry Gibb has I don't understand the song selection last night. Did they not look at all his hits.

I think Jordin did good, everyone else sucked. Blake really blew it with his song choices.

My predictions Blake goes home tomorrow and Jordin will win it all.

if the next two weeks are like last night, then i agree that jordin can win

blake should go home, but lakisha, being one of three women may end up going home...she was ok, but melinda was slightly better and jordin better than the whole lot

overall, they prolly sang ok, but i am convinced barry gibb tunes are as hard to sing as celine dion

and i can't think of any woman out there, pro or not, who can replicate a male falsetto and songs made famous by three men in harmony

if anybody had the edge going in, it was blake being a guy but i think he may have overused the beat box trick...which may have been ok on one song last night, but not both of them

if blake is safe this week, i think he will put the beat box thing away

...

if i were blake, i would try and sing a duran duran song or one by U2 if the competition allows it...i think he call pull those off

if he can sing falsetto, which i am not sure about, maybe he should try coldplay

going for an obscure bee gees song last night was foolhardy

He was- but overall he's been more interesting than Lakisha. She's good, but on the whole, I think the right person went home.

though sending home lakisha kept the final three more diverse, i think blake dodged a bullet and i think he knows it

i don't think many wanted to see three talented singers, all female, go for the semis...although the judges thought the final 12 was dominated by better female singers this season

i still would have found a three way diva race very interesting, especially if all were equally great next week and in the finals and the votes were very close

this should prompt him to give a great performance next week

he is the underdog for sure and many people like to vote for an underdog

blake does not have a great voice, maybe not even a good voice, but does have some dance moves and a super talent at the human beat box thing

in the long run, blake can be the more enduring star because of his truly unique persona

melinda and jordin, while much better singers in this singing competition, are far more predictable but have already drawn comparisons to singing greats of the past from the judges

blake has not distinguished himself as one who is following a well traveled path to idol stardom

taylor hicks was prolly the most unidol type of winner and if blake goes the distance, he can join ranks with the soul patrol

if jordin or melinda win, people will rack this up to another predictable idol season, but if blake wins, this season will be remembered and make him famous, perhaps infamous

Blake got stronger when Chris (and to some extent Phil) got booted off. Blake and Chris appeal to the same demographic and thus were splitting votes. Even if Blake choose not to sing at all on Tuesday he would have made it through because the three girls also split votes (moreso between Lakisha and Melinda, however). How a particular person did any given week doesn't have much to do with whether they are going home or not once they have their voting block established; see Sanjaya.

so true

i have always believed that teenage girls are THE demographic on this show and that prolly bodes well in blake's favor and may give him one more week and he could get past jordin, imho...and only if jordin is bad or mediocre in what i think may be two songs each next tuesday

i can't see melinda blowing it at this point, and she has been on top, or close to it for more than the entire second half of this season

Well, down to three.
Based on only singing, Melinda should win of the three, however this is a popularity contest as well.

I think because Jordin is prettier and younger than Melinda, she lasts longer.
And Blake will get votes for being the only guy and being cute for the teeny boppers.

So I think Melinda goes next week, then the final is Blake vs. Jordin and she wins.

But, yeah, the song selections from Barry Gibb were just awful - they all should have picked better ones.

Bored to death with that show...I haven't been watching much of this series after Sanjayas eviction ...i think the show is just lame without him...I miss seeing him on the show. I don't think the show is the same without him.

What are the judges thinking, Blake murdered "Roxanne". It was out of tune and pitch. I wish this show was judged by real music people that actually know what they are talking about.

I agree with you about "Roxanne". It really didn't work for me.
My wife liked it though, but she seems to like Blake a lot more than I do any way. She thinks Jordin may be eliminated tonight. I hope she's wrong.

I'm hoping for an all girl final with Melinda being the eventual winner.

You may be just on this side of insane. Sanjaya was horrible.

That said- I thought the show was great last night. They all three had their ups and downs, but for the most part did a good job. My prediction for next week- Melinda and Blake. Jordin was slightly less exciting last night. That's really splitting hairs at this point though. They are all there for a reason, they deserve it.

Randy actually does know what he's talking about, he just has trouble describing the tone being off as anything other than "pitchy." Simon usually has a pretty good idea of whether it was good or bad, but is not necessarily good at identifying why it was good or bad. Paula, of course, is useless. I think she does know music, but she can't talk and has a fatal need to be liked that makes her unable to offer anything constructive.

The big problem in the last two weeks is that they never say anything bad, even when it is bad (as was the case last night with Blake), probably forced that way by the producers so that they don't wind up bashing whoever winds up the winner.

Jordin was saddled by the song choices of the producers/judges. Not sure what Simon's problem was with the song she chose for herself - it clearly showcased her talents. Blake was simply off. He had a great chance with Roxanne, and blew it - pitch was WAY flat, not sure why that didn't generate comments.

Talent-wise, they should finish Melinda>Jordin>Blake.

Ha, for the last 2 weeks I've been saying, "Jordin's gonna get voted off. Know why? I voted for her." It's been like that almost all season because I voted for Gina, Phil, Chris Sligh, and Sundance Head (remember him?), and they've all been gone for a while now. Not the case with Jordin, though. :D

Well we now know that Jordin will win.

exactly. She is the one producers want for the American Idol. I wouldn't be surprised if the show is fixed.

Did anyone catch that Ryan Seacrest said something in the middle of the show to the effect of "when we come back from the break... yada yada.. and we'll see Melinda go home"?

I caught that. He was referring to the filler video of her going to her hometown.

Seriously, this show has gone down the tubes. I like it how Elliot from last season basically came out and schooled them in how to sing. I actually don't want Jordin to win just because she annoys the piss out of me. :)
