They said at the beginning of the show that it was the most "shocking" results night ever...
Was I just hallucinating, or did Ryan slip up and promise a shocking results show at the end of Tuesday night's broadcast (i.e. before the results would have even come in)? I've love for someone with a DVR of the show to check this out -- it seems like he dropped some big hint. Anyways, for whatever reason, I was expecting some sort of "trick" for last night's show.

i think the idol producers never intended to kick someone off this week in their telethon so it's possible ryan mentioned the surprise in order to get people donating for a very worthy cause

idol this week may raise more money for africa, and the poor people in the us than live aid and farm aid combined

i think the medium of television is probably the most effective way to reach out to americans in order to donate

who would not want to donate to illiteracy in america, aids and malaria in africa, and further helping the victims of hurricane katrina?

last night's show was amazing and it was great to see rock and roll and pop royalty, from annie lennox to celine to rascal flats, in one night to all fight for a common cause

i also liked the trick with elvis being there and today's special effects almost pulled it off but i could tell it was a digital effect, but in another few years, digital artists will be able to render elvis there in person so realistically that nobody will be able to tell the difference

it certainly was a step up from the special effects of the movie "forrest gump", which was good for its time

he he...i wonder if any elvis is alive conspiracy theorists thought that was really elvis? heck, jeff beck, who backed kelly clarkson last night is as old as the hills and he has barely aged in the last 40+ plus years so could that have been elvis? :)

Oh i'll definitely have to catch it tonight! Good thing I recorded it via eyetv :p Ahh but today is office day! xD

I look forward to seeing how well they did the evlis and celine duet. If it's in HD it should be fairly easy to tell if it was rendered or not.

I wonder though if all the performers were paid and how much money they spent on the cgi.

tuesday night...

i think they all sang pretty well, but the girls did better than the guys overall, even though simon was harsh on jordin

jordin could go home tonight, but it will probably be chris and phil as the two contestants to go home

lakisha nailed it and got a kiss from simon and belinda was the best of the night (in a different league, as simon put it, so those two are probably safe)

blake was gutsy and i think the pulled off the rap/beatbox thing with bon jovi's heavy metal and gave a great performance so he should be safe

i was never a huge blake fan every week, but i hope he does not get eliminated tonight

after tonight there will be four contestants left and i think, maybe, people will look to belinda as the front-runner

front-runners early on, like belinda, usually win as rueben, fantasia, and kelly have shown in previous idol seasons

Melinda. It's not Belinda, it's Melinda.

Had to get that off my chest. :D

I think the bottom three at this point are Chris (please go away), Phil and LaKisha. Jordin should be safe despite last night's train wreck performance -- I think she probably has a solid enough fan base at this point.

I thought the guys did good last night. Am I the only one that found Melinda to be off key.

I'm hoping for Jordin and the Beatbox Kid. Blake has a very unique style which has not been seen on American Idol as of yet. Even though Jordin is young, she might be lucky and aspire to become an all around entertainer.

I like blake more and more each week. He would actually create an album that wouldn't get lost in the shuffle. Rubin anyone? Clay Akin?

So I thought the idea of the show was to vote based on the weeks performances, that said the guys out sang the girls yet 2 of the guys went home.

This week they averaged the votes over two weeks because of the charity thing.

Last week Chris and Phil were awful, while Jordin was spectacular. Yes, Jordin was bad this week, but Chris and Phil were mediocre, and when you average the two performances, they were the worst.

Lakisha needs to go next.

i think blake can make something happen and get into the top three, but going against melinda and lakisha is impossible

blake may get past jordin, who is still great for her age and may surpass everyone else in a few years as far as singing ability

i see a showdown between lakisha and melinda

lakisha started this season off as the front runner and the last time she sang, simon was impressed

melinda has been the front runner in the last few weeks but had a rocky start and was shy onstage at first as a featured soloist

if the theme is gospel or r&b, i think lakisha has the slight edge on those two styles

for other styles, if they are in the range of a ballad, are more in melinda's territory

The upcoming episode of Idol to air on 05-08-07 will have a theme called "Boogie Night" and Barry Gibb will be on hand to mentor the remaining four contestants. This should prove interesting given the broad selection of songs from the Bee Gees. I hope that some of the best disco classics are chosen.

Wow- this is so weird. These were my picks for top 4 since they got down to 12. It NEVER works that way for me. :) I'm glad it has. These 4 are really talented. Next week, either Lakisha or Blake go. That's my prediction. But hey- congrats to all these four, they deserve to be there.

do you think jordin can improve from last week? well, can she get back into the top form she had earlier?

i think lakisha can win this thing though i am torn between her and melinda

As awful as Jordin was- remember the girl is only 17, and she wasn't worse than Chris. He was horrendous. Phil also just lost momentum, as good as he was this week. It's weird, but based on this week, Phil actually should have stayed. But he just isn't all that consistent. Blake did a great job, as did Melinda and Lakisha. This is going to be a very interesting last few weeks. All the final four deserve to win as far as I'm concerned.

if blake can reproduce his performance from last week for the rest of the season he may deserve to win

and judging from their best performances throughout this season, jordin, lakisha, and melinda have all made a good case for winning it all

it is good to see a solid three, or four people, this season who all have a lot of fan momentum

things will be more interesting now than in other seasons where it was down to two or even one person who had a gigantic amount of talent (solid performances) over the rest of the 12

blake does have the slight advantage of being the only male and he may have some teenage girls who will only vote for him now at this point

...so even if he is less than perfect tonight, he may be safe one more week, no matter what

Don't forget its Bee Gees night, so who will sing the best. Barry Gibb has a huge library of music to choose from.

I was hugely disappointed tonight. Here we have 3 great female singers with fantastic voices and one funky guy with a gimmick, and they couldn't pull it off- none of them. They all should have rocked this. I voted for no one tonight, because no one deserved my vote. This should have been as good as last week. They all looked like amateurs. Pathetic. An unbelievable disappointment. These are capable people- it should have been much better.

My prediction- Lakisha is in a heap of trouble, as is Blake.

... I think I actually enjoyed the homework I was doing more then watching them.

I wish I had some homework. It was a generally painful evening and I believe Blake will exit tonight (although Lakisha is a close second). I still go with Jordin for the win.
