The fact that people watch this and there is a thread for it is scary in itself. :D

I'm sorry, but American Idol is one of the most annoying, over-rated pieces of reality TV trash to come out in years.

Indeed, his getting the boot made my evening! :D

I agree that Sanjaya outlasted his welcome. However, what would have made my evening even better would have been to see him outlast Lakisha Jones because any continuing personal demons of Simon Cowell are a plus in my book.

It is also time to usher out this stale and dismal crew of judges for some fresh blood .... is is too much to ask for someone who actually speaks English, one who does not parrot whatever she hears spoken before her and one less acidic, vitriolic and deliberately less hurtful with his remarks? The purpose is to ostensibly offer legitimate criticism, not search, destroy and humiliate in front of millions.

Too bad Sanjaya got kicked off. American Idol is a joke, and him being on the show that long made it even more of a joke.

I'm so glad the Sanjaya era is over. It was becoming embarrassing.

It most certainly was becoming quite embarrassing. Last night was a victory for democracy. ;)

I hate to disagree. Simon is the main reason that I watch American Idol. Sometimes his remarks are a bit too hurtful, but most of the time he is right. Anything he said to Sanjaya was warranted.

Anything he said to Sanjaya was warranted.

In his mind whatever he says on any subject is correct while everyone else in his orbit is there to play the fool. Prepare for the coronation ... let him just be declared King Cowell. There is so much to be learned from his insight and wisdom.

There's something really unique you can do when you don't like something on TV. It's truly amazing. It's called "don't watch".

now that sanjaya is gone, will any of the next three people kicked off be women?

maybe phil can get past lakisha or jordin, but to get past both would be highly unlikely (but i hope he does ;) )

chris has soul but i think his number is next

belinda can win this whole thing and like the velvet teddybear from season 2, seems to be a great person

but her shyness, like simon suggests, is kind of annoying :)

hey, i feel that way about fox news, which has no working affiliation with their regular tv programming (like american idol and the simpsons), but i can't keep my eyes off of it since it's hilarious propoganda

i also totally disagree with "buckley's" so-called magazine, which i won't mention in this section of the forums, but i read it religiously

if the show is "American Idol" how can they keep someone like Antonella who takes wet t-shirt pics in the World War II memorial and not throw her off. That is a disgrace, and completely disrespectful to everyone who died and sacrificed his or her life for the country.

Just goes to show this show is going downhill... everyone sucks anyway.

That's not too much of a disgrace. Consider it a postmodern juxtaposition of abstractions.

Ok, so now we are down to people who actually have a voice.
Not the best ever, but at least all pretty good.

3 boys, 3 girls.

Top 3 - Melinda, Jordin, and Blake

Next to go - probably Phil or Chris, depending on how they do next week.
Lakisha is good, but I think she sings too much like, but not as good as, Melinda to beat her, and is not as pretty as Jordin.

I read someone's theory (maybe it was here) that Jordin could win because Lakisha and Melinda would split the "diva" vote. What do you guys think of that? I was surprised to see Lakisha in the bottom two this week.

I think it's obvious to everyone at this point that Melinda is the best, most polished singer in the competition -- but that doesn't mean she's going to win it.

that definitely could happen

sometimes there are several good female or male singers and some not so good singers, most notably sanjaya and john stevens (from a previous season) and a lesser singer could sneak through and actually get far on the show

it is unlikely that someone will ride under the radar and finish out completely on top

i think the diva vote could be so split that some see all three girls as top level divas splitting the vote, and someone like phil, who simon currently says did best this week on the male side, may win the whole thing

this could get him into the final two, but then all the diva voters who like, for good or bad reasons, prefer female singers over male singers, will not likely vote for phil, no matter how good his voice is from now on

we can appreciate phil and say he's usually not so good but had a very special tuesday, or we can say he's always been good but it hasn't shown until now

so if phil is going to do the same as tuesday, or even better, then he has a fighting chance of winning

from early on, and i think this is more true of this season than any season, one sex is better than the other...and this year belongs to the girls

the men ruled when it was clay vs. rueben in season 2 week after week

Very strong stuff tonight. Even Phil was good. I don't even know how to rank them, but here it goes:

1. Melinda- Good lord this woman can sing
2. Jordin- 17 years old, but sounds as if she's lived a million lifetimes
3. Blake- just because it was simple, true and honest.
4. Lakisha- for pure talent
5. Phil- he surprised me tonight
6. Chris- just plain dull

I think Chris is in serious trouble along with Lakisha.

My guess is that Lakisha will be voted off ... I also feel this season will be won by Jordin Sparks, who seems to have the whole package (talent, poise and brimming with confidence) at such a young age. Plus, her name just sounds like a natural winner to me.

I don't think Lakisha has the personality of an "American Idol" she seems so dull and boring but she can sing and she has a bright future doing her own music.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jordin takes the whole thing. She can sing, she is young and she seems to have her head on straight.

I was glad to see Melinda trying not to look surprised. Looking thankful is fine, surprised is just ridiculous.

Phil will do well in Country Music. I don't think he'll get past Melinda and Jordin

I LOVE BLAKE!! No, he's not the best singer but he has his own sound that is very modern and America's top 12 has never really had someone like him. At first, everyone said he'll never be able to sing the classics because he's so "hip" with the beatbox stuff and all but I think he's proven that wrong!

Chris is ok.

I like Blake too. He's actually my favorite. He won't win, but I love his voice. It's got a great fragile quality to it.

Idol finally doing something worthwhile with it's audience

I HATE American Idol, but flipping through the channels I saw the fund raiser they're doing.

I must say I am very happy they are utilizing their large audience for something that really matters besides fattening their own wallets.

:)

Very nice american idol.

I didn't see it, what happened?

It was sh**ty. They said at the beginning of the show that it was the most "shocking" results night ever. Then what did they do? They went through all the motions and eliminated nobody. The votes from this week will be added to next week's and they'll do an elimination then. That was really unnecessary and evil.
