the girl who was sitting in the back row, all the way to the left. i cant even think of her name. She is definately gone soon. (she had blondish hair). The girl sitting directly in front of her (played the piano) def gone.

the girl who went first week one, and last this week...def gone.

so then you will have the final 5 girls:

- katie stevens
- glass blower
dreads
- cave-woman look-alike (allegedly)
- red hair girl

for the guys:

- i think the kid with the long hair
- muscle man
- mr. egg head (if he actual gives a good performance)
- going to go with the 16 year old
- either mullet or sole patch kid (who is so boring..but a good singer).

thats my predictions.

Final 6 are bolded.

I was pretty surprised to see Michelle Delamor go this early. She had pretty decent vocals and was certainly a looker.

I wasn't surprised at all. She has the same problem Andrew has- lights are on, but nobody's home. She failed to connect with people.

I think like one poster mentioned earlier is that for some reason the large voting block of teenage girls just don't like pretty girls, no matter how good they sing.

Watch, they are going to keep that 16 or 17 year old boy on the show a long time and he's right in their target market. David Archuleta, while good, got a lot of female votes and I was pretty sure he would go far. He did get #2 and initially outsold David Cook. Archie got on tv shows while David Cook, the winner, got ignored by the press for the most part.

Personally, I don't know if this year's teenage boy singer should go top 12, but he will go top 4. Casey, also in the target market of the girls, who also doesn't belong in the top 12, will go top 4. Andrew will wake up and go top 4 since he has way too much talent but has failed to show it in the past two weeks. And some other guy, maybe muscle man, will go top 4 as he could get the big teddy bear (Ruben Studdard) crowd who older people and girls alike love to vote for. The only difference is that Ruben (the original teddy bear dude) had an amazing voice and is a platinum record recipient on top of winning Idol.

But the girls just don't have it this year even though I like harmonica girl. It's just I can't see girls voting for her over the top 4 guys I mentioned above.

I don't know. I still think Lee Dewyze is the one on the guy's side to beat. He's been consistently good, and he's just going to get better. I really don't think Andrew is gonna wake up in time, though I wish he would. He almost went this week. And let's give props to the kid- he really has a good voice. Big Mike is definitely in it for a while, I agree.

You got a point. I will swap out Casey or the 16 year old and put Lee in there for top 4. Lee's the rocker of the bunch and he better be able to do some country, soul, and disco to make it to finals week. Constantine from the past was all rock and that's why he didn't win that year.

Point is, the top 4 this year will most likely all be guys. Unless the voters on American Idol like a Melissa Etheridge sound, it's going to be 4 guys going for top spot. Anything can happen and maybe the final 5 contestants will be guys.

I don't know what the women have to do, but maybe song choice is a good place to start. They should pull out classics and go for it. Heart, Tina Turner, the Supremes, Donna Summer, Madonna, etc.

Whitney and Celine are a little too bold for this group but still better than unknown songs. There are just too many unknown songs the girls have sung which just leaves me wondering what made them come up with those songs.

The only reason 6 girls are going to make it into the top 12 is because the rules make it that way.

If it was based just off of votes within the 27 million votes, regardless of gender, there are a couple guys who would still be on and a couple of girls who are safe who should be off the show right now. Below CNN gets it right talking about the worst season and why.

Join CNN throughout the "American Idol" season as Lisa Respers France blogs live during the performance and result shows.

(CNN) -- Over the years, "American Idol" has been a lot of things: a launching pad for undiscovered talent, fodder for national conversation and even a blending of politics and pop culture (remember the "red state-blue state" debate last season during the Kris Allen-Adam Lambert showdown?).

But never, ever has it been boring. Until now.

"Normally, they don't have this many terrible people," said Dave Della Terza, creator of the Web site Vote for the Worst. "It's not interesting when they are all bad or they are all good. You need a good mix, and they don't seem to have that this season."

Sure, some seasons start out slowly but then pick up steam. A few start out like gangbusters and then seem to fizzle toward the end.

But season nine just appears to be a disjointed hodgepodge of confusing, inconsistent judging, mediocre talent and presumed front-runners who are breaking down in front of us.

Which asks the question, WTF: why the failures? Has the No. 1 show on television, the program its rivals call the "Death Star," jumped the shark?
Interactive: 'American Idol' top 24

Many of the commentors on CNN's "Idol" blog apparently think so.

" 'Idol' this year is so off my TV list," Gregory Gomes wrote. "The contestants are way below standards and at the most are just good party singers."

Danny from Texas said, "I am completely bored with the show this year."

Of course, there are some bright lights this season.

Crystal Bowersox has been viewed as a breath of fresh air among the female contestants, as has Siobhan Magnus. With the men, "Big Mike" Lynche and Lee Dewyze have garnered many positive reviews.

Still, others who were perceived to be major contenders -- such as Andrew Garcia and Didi Benami -- haven't lived up to the promise they showed during the Hollywood rounds. And the men really seem to be having a rough time of it.

"Over the first two weeks of semifinal competition, we've seen the weight of the judges' conflicting instructions, the burden of early expectations, and/or the load of barely masked insecurities prevent each of the 10 remaining men from fully embracing whatever potential they might have to follow in the illustrious footsteps of Ruben Studdard, Bo Bice, Chris Daughtry, Elliott Yamin, David Archuleta, David Cook, and the other men who've transformed themselves from wide-eyed wannabes into bona fide stars under the critical eyes of 30 million TV viewers," Entertainment Weekly scribe Michael Slezak wrote.

So who are we to blame? To trace the mess, we have to go even beyond the year B.E., or "Before Ellen."

"Two years ago, before Kara [DioGuardi] came, ['Idol'] felt like a juggernaut, like it was indestructible, and it was going to be the number one show until the end of time, and everyone had to watch it because it was that powerful," said Glenn Gamboa, a pop music writer for Newsday who covers the show. "Once they started tinkering, people started realizing that 'Oh, it's not that powerful, and maybe I don't have to watch, or I don't have to get all that involved.' "

When producers made the decision to bring DioGuardi on board as a judge, fans were leery. Was she there to replace the beloved Paula Abdul?

Abdul was arguably the heart of "Idol," and her goofy sweetness proved a perfect foil for Simon Cowell's acerbic wit and brutal critiques. Forget the words to your song or crack that final note? No problem; Paula was sure to tell you how cute your outfit looked or how much the viewers loved you.

When Simon threw lemons at contestants, it was Paula who always made the lemonade.

Her departure, followed by the addition of judge Ellen DeGeneres and the announcement that Cowell is leaving at the end of this season, appears to have been a one-two-three wallop that has launched "Idol" into uncharted territory.

"I am starting to wonder if Paula was really brilliant and the one picking all of the talent," Della Terza said, adding that he is finding it difficult to narrow the field this season for his Web site. "Even Simon seems like he is a little checked out this year, and he even had his head under the table during one of the performances."

Twice, the Olympics beat "Idol" in the ratings this season, and the numbers for "Idol's" first results show were its lowest since 2004.

Longtime fan Dianne Emley, who picked the Olympics over "Idol," said she's pretty much lost the focus she had for the show.

"It started for me when they got rid of Paula," said Emley, the author of a successful series of crime novels. "I like Ellen, I really do, but I still don't understand why they brought her on the show."

Newsday's Gamboa agrees. So far, he said, "Ellen has been bad for the show, and the show has been bad for Ellen." And Cowell being halfway out the door hasn't helped the atmosphere.

Still, Gamboa holds out hope that as the season progresses, "Idol" will evolve.

"There's a lot of potential, but there aren't any stars yet," Gamboa said. "In a way, it could make this season more interesting, because there isn't any one that you can definitely say, 'Oh, they are going to win,' or 'They are definitely going to make it through.' It's more of an even playing field, but that doesn't mean it is any more fun to watch at this point."

I wasn't surprised at all. She has the same problem Andrew has- lights are on, but nobody's home. She failed to connect with people.

I was really looking forward to what Andrew would do the last two weeks. He is given another chance, which is great. Hopefully he'll grab it real hard.

The general opinion here appears to be that the girls aren't that great this year. Frankly, I thought that Crystal was brilliant. I thought she really opened up and felt the music. Great delivery. Let's see what she does next....

Andrew has it in him and song choice will be do or die for him the next time he goes on stage. He can deliver with any style, but it has to fit him. I would go for a more dynamic piece, unless he could use his talent to woo with a ballad. We can't get a middle of the road song from him this time, yet if he did, he will probably still go top 12. Some singers on the brink of extinction saved their butts on this show with a perfectly placed ballad bringing them from zero to hero.

Crystal should be OK, but my fear is that she will bore the audience if she gets too one dimensional and won't stand a chance against the top 3 or 4 guys.

Andrew and Crystal could explode with talent when they need to, but can't call up a full on show every time that way Adam Lambert did all last season.

What these Idol contestants fail to realize is that when they sing, it's the biggest stadium audience in the world with tens of millions watching live and no edits to save them. Last season, Kris, Adam, and Danny were very aware of being able to adapt and realizing that they had a lot at stake. As it stands, all three are now gold or platinum artists with one or more top 40 hits. If this current season goes the way it has, the winner or anybody else will not even get close to certified gold status and it would have been a waste of air time.

The only way to save Season 10, if there is one, is to get a huge judge to replace Simon. The judges are half the show and this season, they have not participated. I expect Ellen to pick up the pace once she gets used to the format and not try and be too nice.

Replacing Simon won't be easy. Ellen was really a great choice though. She has a lively personality and I think that overall she brings quite a bit to the judge's panel. Since she is still relatively new at this, maybe her feedback will develop over time, but it is not like she is tapping in the dark or anything. I think she is doing great.

Tonight, the girls improved overall. That's the good news. The bad news is that isn't saying much.

The girl who is a lot of people's favorite, Crystal Bowersox, who could really sing, did a so-so job but the judges liked her. She sang a forgettable song from Tracy Chapman, who has a ton of great songs. This only shows people that Crystal has no idea who Tracy Chapman is and how she blew away the music business back in the day on her first album. Crystal picked a song from Tracy's forgettable second album. I just cringed.

The guys could drop the ball tomorrow and still sound better as a group than the girls did tonight.

I am convinced that there is no way a girl will win this season.

That is too bad. I really hoped that she would shine. The school duties kept me busy and so I missed the show. Will watch the guys though. Let's see what Andie does....

i think my favorite is lacey brown. her eyes...wow..amazing..and her voice would definitely sell alot of songs.

i dont like dreads...yes she is a good singer, but there is just something about her that rubs me the wrong way. maybe too cocky? (judges call it confidence ha). Also, she clearly has something wrong with her health. She cant stand for long periods and couldnt even stand up to hear the judges. i wish they inform us if she has some serious illness and people can vote accordingly. would she be able to tour and stuff?

what is up with the judges loving didi's song?

i thought it was boring and forgettable, than Kara goes that was the best performance out of the whole competition.

i think many people are starting to ignore these judges comments. my goodness.

you could tell the judges really want katie stevens to make it, they are giving her the most advice and she just isnt hitting it (although I think she has a steady vote with the pre-teens and teen girls...no matter how good or bad she is).

The judges are the only ones more clueless than the singers this season. But at least Simon has started to become his famous, mean self which helped launch this show. In a few earlier shows this season, Simon gave a neutral review when he would have usually been very critical.

I think Simon was a little too nice to Crystal if his statements and praises were based on her lackluster performance last night. But if taken overall so far, then Crystal deserves the best accolades among the girls.

Among the guys, there's only one I could think of that is as bad as the girls overall. Most of the guys are slightly better, but Andy has to take his American Idol worthy talent and really blow us away.

When he did "Straight Up" in Hollywood Week, he was reminiscent of Ruben or Fantasia when they were chosen as early favorites to do well. It's possible, even with the best voice in the competition, that Andy has no idea what kind of performer he is.

Without having to state the obvious, most of the girls are completely clueless as to what kind of artist they can be, or that they are being handed an amazing opportunity. The girls only have looked like they are competing for an open mike contest in a college town in the sticks.

That being said, the utter lack of presence or talent has made this show unique in American Idol history. This year, we will have to crown the one who annoys us the least. While every season has produced at least a gold record, this season will be the one where nobody hits gold.

Gone are the days where we will find a gem like Carrie selling 3+ million albums or Ruben, Fantasia, and Clay sell 2+ million albums garnering real life multi-platinum artists.

The best last night in this order:

1. Crystal
2. Didi
3. Lacey

And that's not saying much. The rest of the girls should just go home now. The guys are going to mop the floor with the girls, no problem. Crystal is the only one who stands a chance.

Yes, the guys are better,

so here's my advice tonight:

Muscleman - He's a favorite, but he needs to belt one out tonight and not hold back
Casey - Ditch the guitar which overshadows you and be a frontman and you can wow the judges
Andrew - Sing something that displays your talent, and also ditch the guitar and also be a frontman
Mullet-guy - put some more spark and don't be so shy since the girls are keeping you in the competition
Lee - tired of the guitar thing also, just go out and sing like a rock star (ala Velvet Revolver stuff)

For all the guys playing guitar, does it add to your image as it did with David Cook? If not, then don't hide behind it and let America know that this is a singing competition. Also, it was your voice that got you into Hollywood Week so trust yourself.

Yep- I like all those guys. I think Lee is the clear front-runner at this point. He's the most consistent, but we shall see. If Andrew doesn't do it tonight, I predict he'll go home.

Lee could break out from behind that guitar and be a rocker guy like Bo Bice or Constantine Maroulis.

Andrew is going home. He just doesn't get it. I think the other will be Aaron or Tim Urban. Tim did a great job tonight, but I think his past may haunt him. Aaron was good, but not as good as a lot of the other guys.

Mike is definitely safe. He's much better than I thought he was. What a way to end tonight's show. He's the only one who held it together from beginning to end with moments everywhere.

The rest of the crew had some bright spots but otherwise did things to potentially put them at risk. Todrick was the most improved, but I think his past performances may haunt him.

You could be right. But I'm also positive Andrew is leaving.

Andrew's problem is that his bright moment came later in the song. The first few seconds were unrecognizable.

Lee cleaned up and stepped it up a notch. I wish he wasn't pitchy, or if he was that the judges wouldn't call him on it which one of them did.

Casey improved greatly from last week, but that song was too iconic for him. Only Keith Urban can do that song with emotion.

Basically, all of the, except for Mike, are in danger. I think it's that close. As for the girls, you can send them all home and make this an eight man contest. ;)

The guys, each and every one, have listened to the judges and improved from Hollywood Week. The women, for the most part, either stayed the same, or made changes for the worse even though as a group, they sang with more authority.

I think Todrick woke up, but I didn't freak out like the judges did. But his lead, of making his performance look like his last in a big concert, probably told the others you can't make like an open mike contest.

Personally, I love open mikes and have done many myself. But in the context of the whole teen/pop idol thing, I want to see a huge star come out of this season. All 8 seasons have had gold, platinum, or multi-platinum stars, and most of the love from the teens and 20-somethings.

I am not looking for the next Dylan, Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, or Bruce Springsteen here or anything that deep. But at least I want to see some bright pop music and this season has been off to the slowest start ever.

I hear ya, but we should at least keep Crystal around. Too bad it's against the rules- but really, 4 girls should go home and let the guys stay. They are working a lot harder than the girls.
