Just got a $200 credit.
Thank you AMEX!
They said that they were doing this because they felt Apple mistreated their customers.

Partridge:

You hit the nail squarely on the head. The real cost of these credit won't come close to the benefits AMEX will realize from treating their customers so well in this situation. I for one will remain a loyal AMEX customer and user.

They've do so many other helpful things for me, even if my "claim" doesn't get approved, I'm still one of AMEX's biggest fans. :)

Did they ask anyone else about serial numbers of their iPhones? They wanted both of mine, but when I could only provide one (the other phone wasn't in the house, and I didn't know where the orig receipt was), they said it was OK .. if they really needed it, they'd contact me again.

At first I was skeptical but i decided to give this a shot. It worked!!! Received $200 credit plus tax. You don't need to be anyone special to receive this. I'm 20 years old and have had my American Express Blue card for 9 months. I will now use my AmEx card exclusively.

You mean u already got the credit (you looked at your actual balance) or they filed a claim for you which still needs to be reviewed...?

For the folks that "got the refund", is the refund visible when you check your account online?

They are open 24hrs.... They said that they've received sooo many calls because o the iPhone that they can't keep up.

Thanks.
I'm wondering when they are going to stop offering the refund.

They guy said that they are not giving it to anybody until after all has been reviewed. He said that him taking the information is not a guarantee that there will be a credit to my account. Furthermore, he said it will take up to 2 weeks for them to send out a letter with their decision.

I suppose that with soooo many claims, they will deny them.

I just called and they mentioned the old Price Protection Plan that was canceled last year, but he would open up a dispute for me and I would find out in a few days.

I am hopeful as Amex has always been good to me, they recently gave me full credit on two ipod nanos I bought last year and bricked on me. Needless to say I am not apple fan at this point.

Yeah, Amex has always been good to me too. Whenever there have been issues for whatever reason, they always let me have it my way by giving refunds or whatever.

That is what I got when I called, verbatim.

The women I talked to was extremely flustered but nice;

Her: Hello..
Me : I'm calling about the..
Her: iPhone.

It was funny. But those who called earlier seemed to locked in their refund, it seems more in the air now.

I signed up for their Airline Protection Plan or w/e to make the lady feel better. I'll probably cancel next week, I just figured she got some incentive.

Bah! I'm getting a busy signal. Are they closed for the evening?

It was busy for me too for about 10 minutes then I finally got through. I had to wait on hold for about 5 minutes, but the lady I spoke with was polite, took all of my information and told me she would file a claim and that "valued customers" may receive a credit. I've had an AMEX card for 4 years so hopefully I'm valued enough to get the credit.

amex

OK I called the number on the post. They are opening a "claim" and she did acknowledge that AMEX usually does NOT cover this type of thing but for "valued" customers in this case they are making an exception. So I guess we will see. So if you go into an apple store and get he 100 gift card is it done as a refund on your original ticket? Would this refund then be apparent to AMEX? Also another question I have is this Monday I got a brand new iphone due to touch screen failure that may or may have not been caused by water... they gave me a brand new phone and im wondering if my reciept was refunded and made new. I didnt get a copy for some reason. What do you guys think?

X

We'll see (for me) .. :)

I just checked my claim and it is marked as 'Paid'. I don't have the credit yet, but I was told I would have it in the next couple of days. I LOVE Amex. :D

Spoke to Amex

Mine was paid today, credit letter sent. They update nightly. Call and check your credit letter status.

Anyone else have status changed to "paid?" Mine still says "claim pending." To those who have already been paid, when did you file?

I just called and got denied. I have the American Express Blue. I've had it for almost 3 years now and never been late on a payment. I was very polite to the CSR and inquired about the protection plan in regards to the iPhone. She told me that the protection plan does not cover price changes and did not offer to start a claim. So am I SOL or should I try again? I called the number in post #1 of this thread(800-322-1277).

I filled a claim today as well and I tried entering the claim # with my zip on the status site and it’s not pulling it up. I also tried making linking my card # with an American Express web account so I can pull up info on my account through the site and it said their on technical difficulties. So I called them up and they told me they are doing maintenance so I hope that’s why my claim # isn't working.

I am also interested to knok when you people that have recieved the credit when did you file your claim?
