Mine is pending too. I called around 4:50PM ET on Thursday. Mine is for 2 8GB iPhones...Is anyone who filed their claim on Thursday still waiting on their credit? Mine still says "claim pending" and I'm getting anxious![]()
OK, I've had a Platinum card for about 2 years now. I called the Purchase Protection Plan number posted above and they told me that the only thing available was $300 of return protection (i.e. Apple won't give a return refund but Amex will). That would require me to send the phones back (I bought two) to get my $300 credit, which is pointless.
Anyone else get rejected? Seems to me that all Amex customers posting in here are getting their credit.
If you called today you are way, way too late. I called Sat and they did file a claim (still unpaid and pending) for me BUT they pretty much made it clear to me that the odds of me getting a $200 credit were less than me buying a PC. They stressed that 1) Apple had it's own "refund" program and 2) that the AMEX return protection program was not a price matching program. Anyone who gets a credit at this point is just lucky.
Yeah. I was reading the first page, called Amex and posted about my rejection. Then I kept reading...
Just remember that AMEX doesn't normally do price protection. They do double the manufacturers warranty, give you a 90-day purchase protection against theft/damage, and offer up to $300 if you can't return a product though.I was all set to sign up for a new AMEX card when I got home (still need to see if my Citi Mastercard will offer price protection). I may take a closer look now.

I am a Platinum Card Holder so I don't know if it had anything to do with it...I spend over 100,000 on AMEX every year and always pay in full.
I get a kick out of these people who say they always pay in full and think that will somehow make AmEx like them better...
You're basically saying you spend 100,000+ annually on your AmEx card, of which the company itself gets not one cent.
Credit card companies LOVE the folks who don't pay in full, carry balances, get late fees and other transaction charges. It's those folks who make it possible for you to get your rewards points, your purchase protection plans, etc.
I'm in the same boat. I even tried faxing over some receipts yesterday to see if that would get the ball rolling. They did update my claim status to say that they received the stuff, but it's still pending, last reviewed 09/07.I filed a claim the first day available and it still says "pending" on the website.
I did not receive any notice that I needed to send in any papers.
I called today and all they told me is that it was still pending......
Any ideas? Weird that some people, on same day as me, already received a pay out..

I filed a claim 2 days after the announcement, they said to expect an answer by the 21st. However the guy I spoke said that the credits may be in fact taken back from those that it was given too. He said the reason was because of the $100 credit apple was giving.
Anyway hopefully I will get my credit, Amex has always been good to me, esp with their warranty program.
Actually, credit card companies DO NOT love folks who do not repay their debts. Just because they keep tacking on fees, doesn't mean these people are going to pay anymore to them. CC companies make their money through transaction fees, not from people who borrow money and never give it back. Paying in full absolutely makes them like you better. I've received numerous LARGE reductions in interest rates because of it. Just like Chupa Chupa said, it's a CHARGE card, NOT a CREDIT card.I get a kick out of these people who say they always pay in full and think that will somehow make AmEx like them better...
