I filled a claim today as well and I tried entering the claim # with my zip on the status site and it’s not pulling it up. I also tried making linking my card # with an American Express web account so I can pull up info on my account through the site and it said their on technical difficulties. So I called them up and they told me they are doing maintenance so I hope that’s why my claim # isn't working.

Did you recently change your billing address/zip code? My claim wasn't showing up either, but I realized that their site hadn't updated my new zip code. I entered in my last zip and it came up.

The Jig Is Up. No more $ from AMEX.

I just called and sounds like the jig is up. For reference, I've had my Plat. card (the one that cost $400 a year) for 12 years, never late etc. in case people are wondering if the type of car you have matters...it doesn't (maybe it's different for the black card, but thats $2500 a year, and I'm guess if you have that kind of loot for a card maybe you wont' be chasing $200).

Here is what happened:

I called up the # at the top of the thread and told the rep that I'd read on the Internet that AMEX was helping card holders out with the iPhone price cut. She then asked for my card# and proceeded to tell me that my card does have "purchase protection," but that this is not a price match program. She then read a statement saying that Apple was issuing a $100 credit, I should contact Apple, blah, blah, blah. After she read the statement she said she could start a claim for me, but that was no guarantee it would be honored. To me that is AMEX's way of politely saying no. I let her file a claim for giggles since I was on the phone, but I know very well it's going in the circular file on her desktop.

For those that got a refund early, nice job, very well played. If you get the $100 Apple cert too then Booyah.

Finally got through again and I told them the claim # is not pulling up on the status website. All she told me was that it is still pending and can take up to 2 weeks to process, which I already knew. Still don't know why it won't come up on their website. Oh well.

Just put a claim through my Amex card. The lady on the phone said that they would put it through but would not gurantee if it would be approved. She also mentioned that Apple is giving $100 back and we should check with them.

I have a Amex Cent card so I am hoping that they will eat it for us members.

Well, I'm getting nervous. Mine is stuck on claim pending, and I think I called them around 4 pm the day after the keynote. The guy I talked to initially said it would take a day or two for it to show up, and that they'd call me if they needed more info.

Anybody else have any news?

I would think they may start rejecting the claims that already made it through. It seems like they stopped taking the claims all together now that Apple put out the refund.

I think he meant it would take a day or two for the credit to show after it was APPROVED. It can take up to two weeks for approval, but as noted, since Apple has a program I dont' think anymore credits are going to get approved. This isn't a price protection program so AMEX isn't really under any obligation to do anything. Don't be nervous though. Either you get the credit or you don't. No big.

Update:

I called at 4:51pm EST on Thursday (day after keynote).
Shows Claim Paid as of this morning.

LOL - I was talking to them at the same time. :) My claim has moved from "Not Reviewed" to "Pending", so we'll see. Mine was for two 8GB iPhones.

Nope, just date, place, amt at the time I called them. Good thing I called them when I did, since the jig is up, as has been said.

I called on Thursday at 3:45 PM and they woman I spoke with started a claim.

It is showing up online as an invalid ID so I called them and the man told me he isn't sure why it isn't showing up online but it is indeed a valid case.

It still isn't showing up and since other people's are beginning to be accepted I hope mine will come through soon. It is only on one 8Gb iPhone.

so i am guessing this wont work with the 80gb ipod price drop?

It should work for any item that you have purchased with the card that has had a price drop within 60-90 (depending on the company) days. The item would also have to fall under whatever other rules the card company has (ie some items they wont match others they will).

It's not American Express' normal policy to cover price drops. They did it with the iPhone as a "courtesy". I wouldn't expect them to make it their normal policy.

Just checked my claim number I filed a few days ago, it has posted on the site and waiting to be reviewed. So hopefully it will go through!

I didn't write down my claim number, so I've been checking my statement.

Sure enough, there was a credit this morning for $212. :D

I think AmEx is the only card I'll keep forever. Every experience I've had with their customer service has been wonderful.

did anyone have to sign anything and send it back in? I just got an email from Amex asking me to sign the claim form (and add insurance info)

Not a thing.

I'd guess they'd do that to people who are trying to scam them (bought a 4GB and claimed it was 8GB) or didn't remember exactly when they bought it / how much they paid.

Are you implying that I am trying to scam them?

As much as I'm implying that you don't remember to the cent how much you paid for your iPhone, or what day you bought it.

Well considering the claim form mentions the date of purchase and the exact purchase price, your conclusions are incorrect.

Amex

If you purchased with the card they are checking their records, beleive it or not they have it .
