hey guys, to those who had obtained something, what did you ask the apple rep?
did you guys just ask about the delivery status and ask if there were any way to speed up the process? and start asking about the accessories??

Well, for me, I asked to switch to the faster shipping but told them the web site wouldn't let me, which it wouldn't. He just then did it for free. For the $100 credit I just mentioned that I ordered it through business but when I looked later on the School site it was cheaper AND came with a $100 giftcard, and they offered to reduce the price by $100 so I could use that to buy stuff from itunes. The second one wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but its pretty much the same and I'm happy with them.
 
I called Apple a few days ago and tried to change my order from shipping to store pickup as I wasn't expecting a 2-3 week timeframe (orders were 5-7 days then) when I placed my order, which ran right into my July 4th vacation.

After a long hold, the Apple rep came back and informed me once an order was set for shipping, it could not be changed for store pickup. So I had the address changed to a family member that would be present for delivery.

After we did all that, she apologized for the inconvenience and being unable to change my order to store pickup. I told her I understood and explained that it was more on me, than Apple. That is when she told me that for my "troubles", she would refund the $79.99 for the additional charger and $9.99 for the adapter.

I didn't know what to say......Apple did not have to do anything for me. But they did. I thanked the rep and said that was not necessary. She didn't back down.....and then offered me 50% off if there was an accessory I was eyeballing. From reading this thread, it seemed she implied the superdrive, but I wasn't even thinking about that as I had no interested.

So I was like......tell me more about the Time Capsule. I now have a 3TB TC on the way.

I was sort of in shock after the phone call. I just wanted to change shipping, for an oversight that was on me really, and got a lot more in return.

called earlier. and it worked the second try i made.

for those wondering about what to ask. i just asked about order status and to see if it could be possibly shipping ahead of time. if there was an obvious response to just check the web and that they see whatever we see on our order status, then i also asked about the $100 charge on my cc because of the student gift card. they try to explain it but I'm still not sure if it's true until they charge me for the rMBP and it gets shipped.

either way, the kind lady offered the expedited shipping for free (only should arrive 1 day earlier) and then I had to push about saying a friend of mine got a free superdrive or something. i tried pushing for an AppleTV instead tho since I didn't need the superdrive (of course that cost more). instead I was offered a case/sleeve + coupon. best deal I could get from the call since her supervisor wouldn't approve anything past that. still better than nothing.

it really depends on the person who picks up and their supervisor I guess. gluck guys.
 
Tried calling to get a free Superdrive - no luck. Changed to expedited shipping for "free" but from what others are saying Apple is expediting everyone anyway no matter what shipping you actually chose so no real gains made. Oh well. I'll think about calling again.
 
Very very clever move by Apple, offset the potential negative PR over the delays by handing out nicely little trinkets that cost them very little for free...
 
I also called. Got the expedited shipping fee waved but no luck on a mouse or super drive. Tried it a second time and also no luck. Reps were really friendly, though.

As above, same here. Maybe too many people started calling with this request. Anyone have experience with this drive? Are there better options? The superdrive seems pretty compact and slick as per Apple's usual designs.
 
Just called, got the expedited shipping for free but no SuperDrive. I'll probably try again later today.
 
just an fyi

They do notate these orders, so everytime you call they put notes down. If you keep calling theyll see all those notes
 
Called them the first time, no dice. Called them the second time and asked about waiving shipping fee, the guy said it was pretty rare and that they only do that for certain occasions. After noting my order was pretty standard, he said "eh, why not" and gave it to me anyway. Didn't think he'd give the superdrive after that so I never asked :(, but maybe I'll call again and push my luck.
 
On the line for the second time now, the first time got upgraded to expedited , the 2nd time she said shes going to "see what she can do about throwing in a superdrive" fingers crossed.. will update! on hold now..

Edit: got the free superdrive after an ok from her manager

The cool thing is she asked if I wanted anything - I had the SuperDrive on my mind, but I am curious to know what she might have said had I mentioned an Apple TV or even IPod.

I did buy an expensive 2.7/16/512 with warranty and expedited shipping, so who knows what they might offer given their high profit margin.

Whoa, you should have said Apple TV!
 
Lol. If you buy a $2000+ laptop and get a free dvd drive, you definitely paid for that "gift". Good on Apple though.

what the hell. stop abusing the system. You'll ruin their great customer service for everyone.

not abusing the system at all, the reps are doing what the company believes in doing...

simply asking for information on our $2k+ orders, and asking for compensation for a delay. They could easily say no (like some do) and easily can say yes(like some do). Dont be salty your too scared to call and give it a try
 
I called to get expedited shipping which they added for free and gave me a coupon off my next purchase. I was really hoping for the 50% coupon someone else got, but this one was 45 off 300 purchase.
