I called. Apparently if you get the educational discount they won't give you any other free things...

I've ordered my Air BTO (fully charged and custom keyboard) at June 12th in France and after 3 days I saw the delivery was expected to be June 26th. And that was NOT an option for me as I was leaving the country June 22. So I've called Apple customer service and they told me the same thing : can't speed up the shipping. Rep asked me if I wanted something as compensation and I said NO, I just needed a solution! So I've sent an email to Tim Cook (yes!) explaining my problem and deception with the long delivery time to Europe. The day after, June 19th, I've got a call from Apple Ops chief for Europe saying that Apple's CEO had read my email and was very concerned! And she asked me : how can I help you to solve this? I replied: simple, I need my computer next friday, June 22nd, before leaving the country. She told me she was going to do her best. June 20th she called me back saying that my computer would be delivered the next day! End of the story: I've got my Air at June 21st afternoon! They said it's impossible to speed up the shipping, so instead they credited my account with £50 as an apology for the delay. Not bad...

Darn! I paid for a superdrive and now they're giving this crap away for free?!? Would it be obnoxious to ask for a refund?!?

I ordered through the edu store on the 13th. Called and got a free magic mouse and shipping fee waived due to the long wait times to ship. If you are nice to them they will do it.
perhaps I should call again and ask for something that's worth less in price like magic mouse or something...
Or maybe people should stop bothering them for free items without a valid reason.
