Well is there any number to put instead of 1 that is more relevant?

Most people usually get a notification and check it. So there is a 1 there. But its still a nod to notifications. Because that is a big part of what iOS does now and its a selling point.

What else should they have put? A 2? a 5? A realistic 8?

On the other hand I'm sure who ever designed this had to know that it would be mysterious and let it be so on purpose...

I pretty much agree completely. What would we think had they put a number like 2 or 5? Look at all the buzz they have created off the stupid digit 1? It's ridiculous.

maybe its because there was a missed call, like they missed the normal release window and are now getting back to us.

POLL - What do you think the 1 missed call in the iPhone 5 invitation means?

POLL - What do you think the 1 missed call in the iPhone 5 invitation means?
Answer with the following:
1) Apple missed the regular product cycle of the iPhone
2) There will only be 1 next-gen iPhone
3) There is going to be something extra at the event (+1)
4) Something to do with the original iPhone
5) No significance whatsoever
6) Other (explain)

Personally, I think it's #1.

Since I'm really hoping for a true iPhone 5 not just a 4S, I'm going to hope the "1" refers to one new VOICEmail.

Nonsense.

It clearly means the 4th Tuesday of October, October 25th. And at 11:50am, not 10am (look at the hands!), for $280 (likely $279.99 for the 32GB model), and you obviously only get 1 phone for that money.

Thank God you made this thread, man. We've all been here waiting like, "Man, when is oplix going to come and make this thread to help us make sense of this invitation?!?!" Who would've thought that the icons mean things? Pure genius. You went to college, didn't you?

As a graphic designer, the notification on the Phone icon, balances out the design of the invitation. The red in the calendar icon in the top left is balanced out in the red notification bullet in the bottom right.

I don't think the notification has any meaning whatsoever, its just part of the overall design.

The OP is absolutely wrong. This just means there will only be 4 icons on the next iPhone. Not even an app store, mail, or browser. Cellular companies have convinced Apple to make a phone that will use minimal bandwidth. Don't worry ..... you will still get your 4.3 inch screen and 8mp camera.

All it means is they have a message for you about their next iPhone on that time, day, and location. That's it, nothing more.

The so called "hidden" message Apple is conveying is in the text below the icons, "Let's talk iPhone." That's subliminal for their new Assisatant/Voice control features.

Everything is subjective to interpretations, I took "lets talk iPhone" to mean no iPods at this event.
