Selling the charger separately increases packaging waste and Apple still has to ship them separately. Probably Apple will save more money by selling only the chargers needed, but the claim that this is primarily for environmental friendliness is disingenuous even if tangentially true.

I never said enviromental claims was primarily the reason for the change, i said it was an added bonus. They will ship way more iPhones out of China than individual chargers so that smaller packaging will infact save them alot of money. Im am glad for this change I don't need the earbuds i have owned AirPods since they came out, so each year they just get added to a drawer unused to gather dust. I dont need anymore chargers either, my house of full of them. The cable will be useful as a backup for when the ones i use now wear out.

Well, Steve Jobs did however recommend Tim Cook for the job.

Now we know where he developed the "Less is More" principle, from bean counter Timmy.

Another year of iPhones I will gladly skip. Keep it going Timmy boy!

it's only a matter of time before he cuts off a hand to save a finger accidentally.
It's been almost 10 years. Still waiting for the "inevitable" to happen.

Now that Apple has stopped throttling phones, my 3 year old iPhone X works perfectly. I’ll still buy iPhones, but I have dropped my refresh time from every 2 years, to every 3 years, and now every 4 years. So, they are giving me less, but I am also giving them less.

Considering that Apple’s adding OLED and 5G, expecting a $150 price decrease was absolutely ridiculous. A $150 price increase would easily be believable, which would put it at $849.

I recently saw a very good video talking about how Apple strategically was increasing the prices year-to-year. This in turn forced the competition to do the same, and now Apple are the only ones in the position to slash prices and still make a profit. The 2020 SE was the example phone. They essentially said no other manufacture can put that much "horsepower" in a phone at that price, and now they are going to be hammered in the lower/mid tier phone markets. I was hoping the 5.4" 12 would follow suit.

These analysts and their crystal balls. If they know everything ahead of time why are they still working as analysts? They should have already made their millions and retired by now. I personally wouldn't care if the iPhone 12 didn't come with a charger or headphones. It would give me a reason to buy a wireless charger and some high-end earbuds. Although I believe Apple is going to remove those components, I'm definitely not going to be triggered by rumors. I can't stand e-waste and I already have chargers and several wireless earbuds.

Is it the 2010 square edges that make the phone more expensive? Lol, I was going to skip this one anyway. My xs Max is still doing fine.

Most of them have inside sources and actually make a full time salary doing this (the good ones with blogs, channels, etc.).

I would happily forgo the 5G to save some money. LTE is plenty fast for the less than 5% of the time I’m not on Wi-Fi.

Don’t most people still have relatively low data limit, or heavy throttling after a certain amount? What’s the point of making the data faster? No one is downloading 20GB files on their phone.

Hmm I kinda wouldn't mind seeing a non 5G version if it would save $100 or so off the retail price. I'm not sure how useful 5G will be in Canada in the next 2-3 years. With that being said, I haven't done any research into what the 5G network coverage will be/is currently like here, but not sure I'm craving that much more data speeds then current LTE. With the pandemic I'll be mostly on wifi anyway for at least the next year. Yes, I'm expecting this to last till a working vaccine gets to the masses. :(

At least everyone is aware of this possibility months ahead of time. You can expect people to be initially be pissed when it’s officially announced then still pre-order the shiny new iPhone once its available. Lol. Typical MacRumors.
But everyone means us techies who browse forums. Are they really going to run ads for the average people "Look Ma. no charger!"?

The folks that like Android phones would likely disagree with the above premise, as they talk about big batteries, latest snapdragon processor, finger print reader, UHD oled screens etc.

It doesn’t matter what Apple does, Fanboys and iSheeps will buy anyway, even in the absence of a charger or earbuds!

Next time they will sell you an empty box for another price increase, and people will still line up...
Yea but those people will most likely have 42 of each item in giant ziplocs in a drawer like I do. The average people will be blindsided.

For me the reasoning behind not getting angry over the lack of charger and earbuds is that they have only provided **** chargers for years and I already own airpods because I like to charge my phone while listening to music.

The price hike is the only bad thing for me.

Man what in the world is Apple thinking?? It’s too expensive! Why would anyone buy it if it has no charger.....

so anyways guys what color iPhone 12 should I get?
Will they actually have Cosmic Blue this time and not just tease us again?

The prices are high because idiots will pay it. Where do you think all of their cash came from?
Nobody NEEDS a $1,000 phone, but lots of people can afford it without too much trouble, and if that’s how they choose to spend their money, why be judgmental about it?

And besides that, Apple does offer some quite high-end products but also some very reasonable values. You can get a brand new iPhone ($399, SE), iPad ($329, iPad 7th gen), Mac ($999, MacBook Air), and Apple Watch ($199, S3) all for under $2,000. That’s pretty reasonable pricing for a whole lotta tech.

This complaint doesn't even make sense really. They are comparing the $700 iPhone 11 price to a supposed $750 5.4" iPhone 12 Pro (if they keep that naming convention).

In reality if the 5.4" iPhone 12 Pro starts at $750 that would be a $250 price cut from the current $1000 price of the 5.8" iPhone 11 Pro. That would be a more fair comparison if this new 5.4" phone is going to come with an OLED screen and 5G. If Apple charged $150 to bump up in sizes that would put the 6.1" 12 Pro at $900 and the 6.7" 12 Pro at $1050, both of those would also still be price cuts to the current $1000/$1100 prices of the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.

Maybe the iPhone 11 sticks around as is with a price drop? Maybe we get an 11s with slight spec bumps at the same price?

Maybe Apple realizes the people buying the lower end phones don't upgrade as often, so it doesn't make sense to release a new one every year? Maybe it gets an upgrade every two or three years like the iPhone SE.

It will be extremely interesting to see at exactly what price people will just say "hell to the no, this is too expensive". At $3000? $10000?
For some it will just be that they just don't have enough income to cover it anymore. I'd like to see what the answer would be for the Scrooge McDucks swimming in cash. Would they just pay whatever the price is?

Prince increase sucks, but I will buy one.. my iPhone 7 is almost dead, its really only good for surfing since I have the loop issues on it, and the battery don't last half a day..

So... gotta buy it a new phone.

Yes. You. Are. Thank you for acknowledging that. View attachment 931961 😆
I also appreciate that you're not complaining about it.

Apple is only about one thing... profit (like every other for-profit company). If they can get it by making customers happy, they'll do it. If making a bit more profit means making customers a little less happy, they'll do it (as long as the net profit is more). If they can make even more profit by squeezing those who are captive to their ecosystem, they'll do that too.

I don't say that with any anger... but then again, I'm not captive. ;)
Exactly. At least we don't complain about price because we know the only way we can stop the increases is to stop buying. The annoying ones are the ones complaining about price and in the same breath are the take my money man.

For the iPhone 13, the screen will be sold separately
iPhone Mini.
