  • What about the fact that the more expensive to produce OLED is now in all phone's across the lineup?
  • What about the fact that the more expensive 5G antenna are included in some of the phones?
  • What about the fact that the EU is now requiring a higher standard of charge than apple has previously done?
  • What about the fact that shareholders (it's a corporation) are already have a set expectation of margins, based on decisions made prior to the EU charge requirements?

There are reasons, but them just eating the cost is not really logical either.

I can't help but feel like you didn't actually read my post before replying to it.

Right in the middle was "Because of A, B and C improvements, [the] iPhone 12 starts at $749."

One potential issue I see when you buy a power bank it doesn't include a charger because it's expected that you reuse your phone charger but now phones might not even come with a charger. Doubly screwed. Not including it with the powerbank is somewhat justifiable since it's a low cost item like the $30 RAVPower 15000mAh but not providing it with a $1K phone is inexcusable.

Interesting as the iPad Pro 11 LTE was actually $50 less than the previous model. I am an IUP customer so I go by the monthly payment. I am interested in 5G, so that's the most compelling factor. A smaller notch would be welcome as well.

I believe the earlier rumored price of $649 for the 5.4 inch is still likely, but a $699 price also makes sense. The 6.1 inch iPhone 12 would then likely be $799 rather than $749. My completely speculative pricing line up in this is the case for fall is:

iPhone SE 2020..........$399 LCD LTE A13
iPhone 11..................$599 LCD LTE A13
iPhone 12 5.4"...........$699 OLED 5G A14
iPhone 12 Max...........$799 OLED 5G A14
iPhone 12 Pro............$999 HDR OLED 5G, mmWave 5G A14
iPhone 12 Pro Max......$1099 HDR OLED 5G, mmWave 5G A14

This makes perfect sense and will result in a high quality, high performance phone at all price points. If this is the breakdown, Apple will have a record year, endemic and all.

(Apple may keep the iPhone XR at $499, but it would be an A12 model stuck in between two A13 phones.)

So serious question here. And I’m not even saying Apple is the good guy here. But why do people here seems to give Apple so much heat when they raise the price. While fashion companies that sells wallets, clothes that charges for thousands are getting by? Almost every single “apple could do this” argument I can use it on the fashion industry...

Especially Tommy Bahama, I love their clothing/style but they are so overpriced it's not even funny.

I guess the phone is not for me. I don't need the fancy camera since I only take pictures of inanimate objects. I'm on my XS max and testing IOS 14 and that seems fine for me.

Currently holding iPhone 7, which I bought for 850€ 3,5 years ago, so paying 800-850€ for a basic (small one) iPhone 12 sounds reasonable.

They’re not providing less. You can be sure that OLED and 5G costs more than the few bucks Apple will save on the adapter and earphones.

Apple is rumored to do this with the new SE later this year too. What is their excuse for that?

Considering that Apple’s adding OLED and 5G, expecting a $150 price decrease was absolutely ridiculous. A $150 price increase would easily be believable, which would put it at $849.

It is a $150 increase if the new smaller size ends put being $749

6.1" iPhone 11 $699
6.1" iPhone 12 $849

Its not to save money on the adaptors and earphones. Its to save money by being able to ship more out on a single plane out of china in the smaller box as well as claim increased environmental friendliness by not including things a lot of customers already have and might throw away. I don't think they are going to raise the SE by $50 at this point.

Selling the charger separately increases packaging waste and Apple still has to ship them separately. Probably Apple will save more money by selling only the chargers needed, but the claim that this is primarily for environmental friendliness is disingenuous even if tangentially true.

Well, Steve Jobs did however recommend Tim Cook for the job.

Now we know where he developed the "Less is More" principle, from bean counter Timmy.

Another year of iPhones I will gladly skip. Keep it going Timmy boy!

it's only a matter of time before he cuts off a hand to save a finger accidentally.
