Hilarious but it actually works pretty well on my S22 Ultra considering it's early access. The developer worked pretty quick on this!

Cool! It's not like technology innovations (especially when they concern the arbitrarily necessary feature of a camera cutout/indentation/notch) exist in a vacuum. If we have to have punchouts for cameras, then Dynamic Island isn't a poor consolation prize at all! No reason to deny Android users the same love here.

That sucks! With all those permissions, it would be silly to install it on a phone that you use.
Well… I tested it on a separate older phone I never use but have it for when I travel.

These apps from Play Store are always fishy.
I understand it needs to read notifications and messages to display them in the “island”.
However there is no guarantee of privacy or anything.
That is the Android issue in general! No store review of Software makes everything anyone publishes a high risk.

This is why I always say: Samsung makes some amazing HW - too bad they run Android.

I’m waiting for Samsung to make a stupid commercial making fun of it then copying it. Come on Samsung you know you want to 🤣
That has been their playbook for years:
Mocked no removable battery
Mocked no port for headphones
….
Just to name a couple

wait.....so they are calling this out but ignoring how Apple is copying always on display? And lock screen widgets?

lets just all admit they all copy from each other! Then we as consumers all benefit from this as we get better features on our phones.....

And the Android owners who were trashing the Dynamic Island will now download it and praise it and probably say Apple copied it from the Android App Store or Play Store whatever it is called.

Do you guys seriously think that "Android" is a single company that makes all phones and apps??
I'm pretty sure people here know it is an OS that has more flavors than Baskin Robbins and most people using one don't know what flavor they have. But can rest assured it is just as inferior as all the other flavors when compared to iOS.

It's kind of depressing that the Android world seems so interested in a feature that's passable enough for most Apple diehards to pass on this year's phone. You've got a full top row, guys… have some self-esteem.
I don’t know why it would be “depressing” for Apple users? Most of us don’t know or care what’s going on with Android while they live in a constant state of insecurity always comparing and justifying.

There’s literally nothing Android could offer that would make me switch because it’s the ecosystem, not any feature or device, that’s the value and that’s something no Android manufacturer will ever have.

I find it so ironic that all the apple haters saying android is better all the time, yet they go and do something like this. Typical androids lol

The name “dynamic spot” is better than “dynamic island”.

Apple could have at least gone with something like “dynamic station” or “dynamic bar”

Exactly. I feel like this so much. I see everywhere android always comparing to apple but never apple comparing to android. You don’t compare yourself to something lesser.

I think you took my comment way way too seriously. Google will survive just fine without you here to defend them on MacRumors 😂😂😂
That particular user is only informing you that Android is not laggy and this particular copycat feature is from a 3rd party dev not associated with Samsung or Google. I don’t see how they are taking it too serious? It’s not about defending Google… and yes, we are on MacRumors yet they post an article discussing a feature on Android.
