Google Play is not as good as the App Store, end of argument from my point of view. That is the main reason I couldn't get on with Android. Apps I had on iOS either didn't even exist on Google Play or were several versions behind in updates so didn't have the functionality of the iOS versions. Also, the Google Music UI was terrible, I had problems connecting it to the Bluetooth in my car and several other reasons. This was with a Galaxy Note 8 btw, although I have tried Nexus Phones and Galaxy S phones also but all the same issues...

There’s a limit to how far loyalty can stretch to. Is Steve Jobs’ original IOS ecosystem - is a decade old strong enough to make you buy a £1250 phone when you can get another for £280 that does the same everyday stuff that is nearly £1000 less? For many that even that draw isn’t enough for the ‘kudos’ of the Apple logo.

That’s fine. If you’ve got the spare cash lying around and need that Animoji and Portrait mode to adorn the texts you’ll dispose of after the next model uograde. But for me it was the fact I could break away from the bubble. Buy a phone outright and come off contract that motivated me.

And do you know oddly enough this phone actually is better than my old (Samsung S6) runs twice the speed and takes better photos anyway. And does MORE than the big named brands. It’s all hype. You don’t NEED all the alleged features (the notch idea of the X isn’t worth it for me and the Edge screen of the S6 is a gimmick) which isn’t worth paying an extra £20 a month on contract for me.

Break away from Big Brother Brands. And watch the video. That is all :)

Well it's not surprising.
iOS is becoming less and less reliable and more bugs and frequent issues showing up with each recent version.
IOS 11 was shocking.(was because I no longer use it).

On the other hand, android is becoming more and more stable and reliable, with Note 8 version for example,I was surprised how much they have ironed out the famous "lags","bugs" and "reliability issues" android was once known for.

Frankly it's now more reliable and much more fun to use than iOS.

I'm very happy with my switch from iOS and iPhone X to Android and Samsung Note 8.

Simply a better designed, superior phone to iPhone X and iOS.

As we are all aware and to use jobs own word: 'we will be doubling down on that", although at the time it referred to leaks, now it would be relevant for some core rot, beta testing and bug squashing.

I implore for them to try the Pixel.

I'd certainly like to. The only thing stopping me is that I happen to like smartwatches and find them very useful. I've found Android Wear to be a bit rubbish, and it also requires turning on all manner of Google settings I'd rather leave turned off.

I'm hoping that a decent, Android-compatible smartwatch (perhaps from Fitbit) appears by the time Touch ID is no longer available on any iPhone, which is when it will be time to switch.

I love my iPhone 8+ but mostly use Google to sync most of my data and 3rd party apps for everything else. Apple needs to get their **** together when it comes to software.

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM..

Although I have a couple of Apple devices and phones, I have to say that Apple have shot themselves in the foot some time ago - and somehow just have not realised.
My perception is that people (like myself) WOULD love to be loyal to Apple, but are increasingly uneasy about recommitting because 'Apple now seem to just concentrate on overpriced throw away bling objects for 'A list superstars'.

WHAT'S HAPPENED APPLE?
IMHO The fact many of the features of the past few years have turned out to be just bling or a waste of time, really erks both new prospects and the loyal fanbase.

Just consider what would happen if Apple produced a phone with nearly no faults, and an infrastructure (including iTunes/Store/good repair/realistic lifespan) - not a throw away 3-4 year lifespan to match. People would happily hand over the millions.

So now just consider why I'm about to leave Apple this year unless something 'that works' comes out.
Otherwise I really think I am being silly just spending inflated prices over Apple products.
Don't we all try to be a bit sensible when it gets crazy?

I'm loyal to my cheap toilet paper brand, it does what it says it does and I don't need more features.

Arugable statistics.

I would say iOS users are way more loyal.
Android users may be close. But not as loyal.
Many android users are loyal because they have no choice because iOS is so limited.

I am a constant Android to iOS convert, and within a month, a iOS to Android convert for another year, only to repeat the dissapointment.

At least both parties can claim me as a “convert”

Yes well, the kids do like their "Barbi's 1st Phone" that runs Android.

I hate when they compare the iPhone with the entirety of the Android ecosystem. It's like saying Ford sold less Mustangs than all of General Motors combined.

It would be a perfectly apt comparison if the Mustang was the only car ford made,

For the record though: Apple doesn’t sell just one model of iPhone, but 4

Not a huge surprise. I still prefer iOS, but it's clear that the UX and quality of the iOS ecosystem is in gradual decline, while Android has been making strides. Obviously it helps that Android devices are cheaper, too.

Considering the large number of iPhone Android to Apple Switchers - any number of times Tim Cook has stated during quarterly earning calls stuff like: ""We continue to see a higher rate of switchers than we have seen in previous cycles, and so we're extremely excited about that," and that there are more switchers than other categories like new iPhone customers, etc.

The bottom line is that a large number of Android users continue to switch to iPhones, and indeed in most recent quarters Apple has overtaken Android in the United States. So while I don't doubt that there are categories like top of the line Samsung users who are very loyal, or bottom of the line Android users who can't afford iPhones, but the rest, in particular people who have gone up the earnings lather and can now afford an iPhone continue to switch. Who knows how wide the Android base for this survey was... Certainly my anecdotal numbers are 100% Android to Apple switchers, 0% in the other direction. Yes, I said anecdotal.

Android loyalty is 89 - 91% and iOS loyalty is between 85 - 88%. What is the margin of error on this survey? Most political surveys have a margin of 3 - 5 % and they have thousands of samples to get there. The difference here does not look statistically significant enough to claim that one is better than the other (even if the roles were reversed).

Even more interesting, 100% of iOS users stay loyal to Apple.

Drinking and driving is objectively bad. Picking an iPhone is not.

Missed the point. The analogy isn’t too important here. Another example would be choosing the wrong woman in your life. Just because you think something is the right decision, doesn’t mean it is. People make boneheaded decisions all the time.

Having been an iOS user that now uses Android, I gotta say -- it's pretty nice here. Unless I see some big changes in iOS 12, I expect my next phone to be an Android device as well. Android is really terrific, objectively speaking.

Now, my experiences are with STOCK Android -- that is, Android the way that Google intended for it to be. Many of the folks I've seen hating Android unsurprisingly have experiences with Samsung, LG, and the like. Or no experience with Android at all. But I digress. I implore for them to try the Pixel. Go take a look at the Pixel sub on Reddit and you'll find pages of pleasantly surprised iOS users.

(Before the Samsung lovers lynch me -- I think the Note 8 and S9 look amazing, guys! I kind of want one!)

Stock Android is the way to go. It really is a terrific os. Ive had my pixel 2 xl for about a month now and not really sure if I'll go back to iOS. I thought I'd miss imessage like crazy but it's notes I miss the most.

The qol improvements are just so damn good with Android .

All this proves is that Android users are cheapskates.... they go through phones like water, because they don't last or they cannot get Android upgrades..

This is the kind of statement that non-Apple fanboys ridicule.

My release date Pixel is perfectly fine. Does everything it needs to do. Battery is holding up exceptionally well. No hiccups. I thought I'd upgrade when the new ones came out, but decided against it. Might pass up the coming hardware update if it doesn't blow my socks off. It's nice having an extra grand in my pocket every year.

Funny how phones locked up into an ecosystem (well, Apple, at least). Now it's home assistants that lock you in. Alexa to Amazon, Google to Google and ...

Maybe I am just using it wrong but Android still seems a confused mess. I also do not see the panacea of “freedom” that Android supposedly offers. Glad both Android and iOS exist but I do not see the stark differences that some posts suggest.

Incase you didn't know, Apple has a range of iPhones that are low and high price. Apple doesn't have 1 version

For me it's native integration with Android apps like Gmail (push instead of pull), Calendar, Maps, etc. Apple's 1st party apps are abysmal in comparison. At work, we use a lot of Google apps or Microsoft apps. Before they separated themselves from Google in previous iOS versions, I was actually pretty happy with the iPhone.

Ah...yes,that is an annoying thing Apple did. After they announced you could delete apps like Mail and Calendar, I was surprised, there was still no "default" app option. What's the point in deleting the Mail app if expects it when you click on an email link? Your point is a good one if you require non-native apps. Thanks!

With my Huawei phone, I can run two WhatsApp, two Facebook messengers at same time and both logged in into two different account. I also have dual SIMs installed with my Huawei Mate 10. It came with faster charger without need to buy one,it also support USB OTG and mice support.

It also runs dual applications at same times without any issues.

Oh, now that is cool you can run an app with more than one instance. Out of curiosity though... why do you need two WhatsApp and Facebook sessions going? Work and persona?
