Let me try this one more time: If someone criticizes the products of company 'X', and you reply that "X ... is a fantastic company", you're completely not answering their complaint. It's like if I said ESPN should fire Chris Berman, and you say 'well ESPN is a great company'. I would rightfully respond "what the hell does that have to do with it?".

So yeah, for investors, mcdonalds is a fantastic company. For the dining public, mcdonands does not represent 'good' food by any measure.
You quoted only a portion of my response. Read it next time.

Capitalism decides what is good. Your anecdotal opinion matters not.

Some people are "loyal" to Android because they can't afford being loyal to Apple. Statistics should compare loyalty to comparatively priced devices

So, I think it is good we have a strong iOS and Android bases so that they will compete and offer better product for us all. Right now, I am in the Android camp because it works better for me. No, it is not perfect just like iOS is not perfect... it is different than iOS for sure.

However, I think people who never tried the newer Android should not judge it so quickly and vice versa. It is not because Android is cheap because there are many handsets that are very expensive as well. Also, there are some very smart people who use iOS. All these stereotypes are not always the truth. I used both platforms extensively and I can tell you BOTH have its good vs not so good and both can be buggy. People who have not used both handsets extensively should not form an opinion so quickly. If you used both and prefer one, then there you go.

Apart from your hatred towards Apple, we can now say that you are not very good at maths. Those numbers mean that Apple is gaining customers at the expense of Android.
[doublepost=1520582688][/doublepost]
Same here: Not good at maths. If 10% of 80 change sides and 20% of 20, then 8 move one way and to the other way, so we now have 76 vs 24.
Which means that Android users are even more loyal than reported, otherwise Android market share would be declining not growing. Also Apple fans might be less loyal (same math).

Stock Android is the way to go. It really is a terrific os. Ive had my pixel 2 xl for about a month now and not really sure if I'll go back to iOS. I thought I'd miss imessage like crazy but it's notes I miss the most.

The qol improvements are just so damn good with Android .
Agree. Also using a Pixel 2 XL alongside my iPhone X. People who haven't used a Pixel have no idea what they are talking about, probably 99% of the Android haters in this thread. I think that customer loyalty - toward the Pixel - rivals Apple, however small a group we may be. It is a totally different experience vs. any other Android phone.

I am loyal to both. Both ecosystems must co-exist and I have a blast using both. Beats blowing money on booze, strippers, and gambling. No idea why there is so much hate and insecurity. I want competition and want iOS and Android to both have fiercely loyal user bases. I love my Pixel 2 as much as I love my iPhone X. When I get bored I'll swap my main SIM into the iPhone and test out Android P on the Pixel. Actually looking forward to the first stable beta (I am too chicken to try the just-released developer build of P).

Counter argument is consumers are getting smarter and realize that iPhones are overpriced versions of Android low to mid end devices but with lesser services like AI assistant, navigation, cloud storage, mail, etc. Why spend $700+ on an iPhone when a $50 to $100 Android device is just as capable if not more so and put the savings towards a new Macbook, vacation, etc.?

Oh look, another elitist remark implying Apple users (iPhone buyers) are stupid.

$50-100 device is as capable? Just another outright lie.

All this proves is that Android users are cheapskates.... they go through phones like water, because they don't last or they cannot get Android upgrades..
no. more like ios users brain will explode if they try to use android. it's far too sophisticated.

I am loyal to iOS because its less prone to failure/trouble shooting... and privacy of course

You are SOOOOO RIGHT about Pixel owners (and definitely nexus owners) and loyalty! And Android P for me has been wonderful! Check it out, have been running it withing minutes of it coming out. And don't you just love how the phone updates the software in the background, so the next time you restart it, its updated with no wait.
Check out this guy who only took his pixel phone to a motor show.

I saw that article, great photos. You've had zero problems so far with dev preview build 1 of P? I'm using the Pixel as my daily driver and don't want to bork anything. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the Nexus 5X. I was one of those who suffered from the boot loop issue. But so far Pixel and Pixel 2 have been stellar for me.

They're headed in the right direction but I'd like to see something like Arista SSU, Juniper ISSU, etc. hitless update without downtime.

Largely due in part to Galaxy S9

lol, no its because the majority of users based in India and China 3 billion now? are mostly andoird users.

Developing countries can't afford apple products period.

Makes sense. Android users stick with Android and Apple users stick with Apple. That’s why I never got the constant bickering back and forth or the comparisons between phones as if it really makes a big difference in your purchase decisions. Each platform offers value to their users in different ways and we are all smart enough to decide what works for ourselves.

Yup..

He’s pretty wrong about Android users. They’re not smarter just because they chose Android and a huge portion of them have a company of choice and stick with it.

and Yup..

I've always said most of us have picked our poison and there's going to be less and less switching.

Does the loyalty study take into consideration that:
1- Android phones might become obsolete faster than iPhones.
2- And those who replace their obsolete phones will fall back into the cheaper Android phone models.

I have been using pretty much every developer preview since 5.0 I believe, and have had little to no issues at all as a daily driver. Every developer preview from 7.0-9.0 have been flawless. I highly recommend it! I think LG has always had some sorta BL issues since forever. Never understood why they never could get things right till recently.

So what about market share in US exclusively? There are still more Android users in the USA, than Apple users. Same in UK, and pretty much everywhere, hence many more Android users than Apple users. Take away developing countries, and the data still seems to conclude the same thing. More people prefer Android. Not sure why so many people here seem to be hurt by this data.

And people still eat at Arby's and fly SouthWest, JetBlue, and Spirit. Kids are eating Tide Pods too! All it shows is some people are masochists that you can't save. *shrug*

I use both iPhone X and Note 8. Both indifferent ways. Always had the flagships on both sides for years. O don’t understand the bashing. Yes, there are negatives and positives on both ends but they practically all do the same thing if you’re not a power user. Most of smartphone users use them for social media, text, phone and camera. All that can be had on low end smartphones. I don’t understand why people get a $1000+ phone for just using the basics. Maybe the ecosystem but majority are non techie that don’t care about having smart homes.

Perhaps just to have the latest phone. It’s part of fashion. There are lots of people who buy high spec MacBook pros and Windows notebooks who will never use them to their full potential. However even if they don’t do anything more than the basics, the performance of these basic things is much better on the flagships. Lots of these cheap devices are also on much older Android firmware and just have a pretty ugly appearance. Also many people spend money on a flagship for the camera quality which just will not be there on inferior devices.

A relative of mine was still recently using an S5 and was so impressed with the quality of the portrait photos and videos I took of her daughter with the “bokeh” effect on the 7 plus. The color accuracy is much better on iPhone as well as nearly everything she took on her phone was over saturated. Yes it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but even going to back to something like the iPhone 6, color accuracy was still better. Where Samsung had an advantage around that time was with low light and flash performance.

The picture quality on the budget Samsung phones, not S, is pretty awful. I’m not a professional photographer, but I know how to compose a shot and look for the right lighting, position and exposure and it was impossible for me to even approach the quality of even the camera on an older iPhone like the 4s.

I collect old PowerPC machines, have a few Apple TVs with an Intel Mac Mini as my media server, and use modern Macs and a 2017 iPad for my work, but my phone is an Android, and a cheap one at that. Phones are just utilitarian to me, used for a messaging thread at work and texting, with a few phone calls thrown in for good measure. I never got that attached to a phone to spend more money for an iPhone, but I'd use one if I acquired one for some reason, and my phone was antiquated or dead. I guess I just don't care what I use, but won't drop the cash to use an iPhone, as phones just aren't super-important to me. iCloud would be handy, I guess, but I've got a paid Dropbox account that works just fine between all of my devices.
