It's funny how people compare the iPhone to a Ferrari.

I'm not sure if there is a Honda with a more powerful engine, that accelerates quicker than the Ferrari, is there?

There are many phones with better hardware than the iPhone. Oh I forgot... It looks elegant. Goes perfect with my tuxedo. Give me a break.

Hahaha. What the heck? Who said anything about elegant and being perfect with a tuxedo? That was you. :p

If you're going to make an argument against the Honda vs. Ferrari analogy, try it without making stuff up. I'd also suggest reading the rules about consecutive posts. ;)

What did I make up?

You obviously didn't read my post.

Unfortunately, I did. :(

If you are referring to the elegant comment... It's not made up. 100's of people say I LOVE THAT MY i IS SO ELEGANT LOOKING! Also, tuxedos = elegant, do they not? iPhone + Tuxedo = 2 "elegant" things. At least it looks good in my hand. Too bad ATT sucks. Hence Ferrari in the mud.

What an obscure argument. I never said anything about tuxedos and elegancy, yet you're trying to use it as an argument against me? Wow. Are all of your posts on a mac forum arguments against Apple products? I've seen quite a few. Either way, that's a bit off topic.

The original statement is that Hondas outsell Ferraris too. That's not to say exclusively that Android is Honda and Apple is Ferrari. It's to be taken with a grain of salt. It's simply saying that generally less quality products outsell higher quality products. It's an analogy, not an exact comparison.

Android outselling iOS or iOS outselling Android, it doesn't matter. You'll choose one or neither. That's up to you. I know what I chose and I'm enjoying it.

EEEEXACTLY.

So I still don't understand why there are SO many Android threads on the Mac boards. Actually I do understand. Having used both for years, Android wins hands down in functionality.

wow 3 post for some one to make that argument.

Before Android took off it was screamed by people like you how iOS was out selling Android and how it was better blah blah blah.

Now you have to start scratching for a reason. What this proves is clearly Android is popular and clearly that even with iPhone on all carriers in most of the world Android still out sells it.

It doesn't take a genius to understand this concept people. WHY was it ok to make that statement back then? BECAUSE IT WAS A FAIR FIGHT! There wasn't thirty Android phones on the market vs. One iPhone. Der, duh, der.

It will also be interesting to see how long Google investors will let Google give Android away for free. I'm not sure Android will drive enough ad revenue to Google long term to offset development costs.

Google ad revenue game overall is a losing strategy.

The first problem is if people simply switch from pcs / laptops to mobile devices then it's net neutral for google. People who googled with a desktop would now just google on a cell phone. Of course you could say that since the mobile device is more convenient, people would be on it more often and thus search more but at the same time the speed you can browse the web is slower on a mobile device...

The second point and more importantly is it makes no difference to google if people google or look at a website with an android, iphone or blackberry. So the only way they can make money off Android ad revenue specifically is through ads in android apps. But if a person is using an app that means they aren't using google search or looking at the google ads on the website. So it's kind of the same problem as the first point, they are transferring revenue from the old devision to the new one.

It's still a fair 'fight' now. Blame Apple for not selling iOS on more smartphones. That'll be the policy that limits iOS based smartphones the most. That isn't Google's or any other manufacturers fault, and they will take full advantage of that.

Lol, people bickering over a "fair fight" when there really isn't much of a fight at all. Apple is in its own little world when it comes to selling devices. It doesn't matter to them about being number one in market share (thought they are the first to tout their share when it gets good PR).

It all comes down to making money, and not even the most comparatively, if they are making **** tons, they're making **** tons.

People settle for android, not because it's better

Once Apple puts the iPhone onto all carriers, it will outsell all android phones. Plus, China has a huge population. China hates Google. iPhone will go on sale this Sept. there!! Mark my word! :D Plus, Oracle will destroy Google!!

Is it me or has the calibre of posts on macrumors taken a nosedive recently.

Considering Apple still rakes in 48% of the profit of all mobile device manufacturers... don't really care about units sold. Still good times to be an investor in APPL.

Whats more amazing is that Apple only currently sell 2 phones, and 4 in total, and they come very close to Android, and how many phones are there out there that have Android on them?

Face it, if Android was only on 4 phones then it would not even be anywhere near how many iPhones are sold.

Is it SUCH a bad thing that Android goes for every demographic out there? They have pretty much every carrier and class of phone covered. That's a GOOD thing. They even give demographics sub-choices when it comes to what phone to choose.

All this talk about IF iPhone had this many phones and IF it was on more than one carrier in the states is pointless. They're not. End of story. Android outsells iOS when it comes to smartphones. And it's not going to stop here. The distance between the two will geep growing.

And units sold doesn't equal profits for all the companies, nor Google. Apple takes nearly half (48%) of the profits generated in the mobile device sector. I'm sure all those handset makers are enjoying a headline about unit sales but still watch Apple take the lions share of the profit. End of the day, company profit is what matters to the investors and the CEO's if they hope to keep their jobs.
