Haha, you like it now, but give it a few months.

There are many things that Apple have done to raise the standard of human creativity and interaction. This is not one of them.
No. It’s fun. Like Photo Booth was goofy and fun when Steve Jobs demoed it on stage. I’m sure the novelty will wear off but then something else will come along. In the meantime I’m going to enjoy these, and I’m sure Apple marketing is enjoying all the free publicity.

Here’s a few more good ones:

Don’t really use iMessage all that much here in Asia. It’s pretty much whatsapp all the way, with a bit of telegram sprinkled in.

I am uncertain if Apple mentioned this, however does Face ID have limited/simple or complex eye tracking incorporated. Is this a hardware or software capability or in conjunction. If it is simple then this means a single function, if complex then Apple and developers can control multi elements and functions within iOS.

With complex eye tracking, a user can control multi-elements with their eyes. The evolution to 10 finger multi-touch. To me this is a game changer if complex eye tracking is used with minimal battery consumption.

I think animoji will be a big hit with teens and mainstream iphone buyers but from a technical perspective I don't find the effect very good. I think the mouth is the most important part of them but imo the syncing isn't very good. I'm sure it will improve over time but I don't see them as that different from when Skype introduced animated avatars or facerig. It's cool that it's on a phone now but I thought such face tracking would be further along by now.

It is going to wear off in a few months, but this is a huge open window for developers to be able to fashion apps that do all manner of things. The face tracking is pretty amazing. Check out the AR app "MeasureKit" and launch the face mesh option in the latest update. What the phone is sending to apps is pretty detailed!

An animated cat, fox, pig, and chicken singing Bohemian Rhapsody is the epitome of a new social media phenomenon dubbed Animoji Karaoke.

Over the past week, both reviewers and customers lucky enough to have the device in their hands have shared fun, humorous videos of Animoji in action, ranging from goofy voiceovers to full-out music videos.

Animoji, for those unaware, are custom animated characters that use your voice and mirror your facial expressions captured by the iPhone X's new TrueDepth camera system. You can even record yourself as a Pile of Poo.

Creator: Mia Harrison

iPhone X users can create Animoji recordings up to 10 seconds long in the Messages app, but the internet discovered that iOS 11's new screen recording feature allows for much lengthier clips. Enter Animoji Karaoke.

The idea was conceived by technology reporter Harry McCracken, who decided it might be fun to lip-sync a song and have an Animoji character mimic his performance. From there, similar videos have spread on social media.

To create your own Animoji Karaoke, play a song loudly enough for it to be picked up by the iPhone X's microphone while lip-syncing. After messaging the Animoji, tap on it, and tap on the iOS share sheet to save it as a video.

A few people have gone a few steps further by stitching together multiple Animoji clips and editing in some other post-production effects.

Animoji might end up being a gimmicky feature that fades over the coming months, but for now, Apple is certainly benefitting from a wave of free viral marketing. If you see a singing fox in your timeline, now you know why.

I did more of a uh... intense version

People thinking this to be a gimmick failed to realize the tech behind it.
Think how Hollywood does motion capturing of a human face, and how painstakingly that is done in CG, especially for mouth movements.

And now we can just do it in real time on our phone. A developer can create an app utilizing this camera to basically create a facial motion capture app for the masses.

You know what's a gimmick? Squeezing your phone.

Nope, I’m actually a fun person. I simply find it inexcusable with the issues in today’s world that the main attraction of an $1,145 phone is Animated Emoji. As a society we should be ashamed of these materialistic desires. These features do nothing but drive us deeper into our devices isolating us from reality. :apple:

I am more ashamed of our society because of people like you who poop (pun intended) on other people's fun.... Society will just be fine, if judgemental people were to keep their thoughts to themselves....

Talking about materialistic things, shouldn't you follow your own advise? Get off whatever materialistic things you are using to post negativity on here and go out and have your joy with reality?

Kudos to all the people who are having fun with their animoji's. I am glad some people find fun & joy at silly things in life. Some of us are too hung up and seem hate having fun...

I tried and tested this out, fun for a bit. I wonder how long it will be until the animoji fad wears thin. 15 minutes of fame, with an animal mask. In todays short attention span tech community, I am curious how long this will last. :p:D

I'm ahead of the curve. I was so over this before I had even heard of it.
