It would be interesting to see the difference in training between American/European pilots vs. pilots in Asia, ME and Africa. One would ponder the possibility of having a universal standard for training standards through some sort of UN deal, or treaty.

It goes back to the basic design of the plane, not just training.

I think a MAX with only improved avionics will be similar in spirit to the MD-11.

Air Canada is removing the MAX from their schedule until July 1st at least.

The DOT is launching an audit of the MAX certification.

Transport Canada sent a team to assist the FAA with the proposed changes.

Both crashed planes lacked the AoA display and disagree indicator options.

These will be made standard with the upcoming update.

Of course you would also need to know about the MCAS workings and properly train for failures.

From Ethiopian's statement, it seems training on the MAX simulator they had would have been useless and Boeing was not asking for it anyway.

It seems that what will be made standard is only the disagree indicator, not the AoA display.

Samoa Airways cancelled delivery of the MAX 9 they were going to lease.

It seems on the Lion Air crash the pilots only had 40 seconds to save the plane, according to simulation results that just came out.

The fact that it was a separate issue from the other issue they supposedly fixed is concerning. I guess it’s good they spotted it now.

One engine problem is not an indication that there is a defect with the LEAP engine. Or else they would be grounding the A320neo as well.......

The crew had an issue, they handled it, they returned to the airport, the end. Nothing to be concerned about in this case. Only reason this made the news is because the MAXX is a hot topic right now. If that was a 737NG returning due to an engine issue, you would not have heard about it. Heck, you wouldn't have heard about it if it was the A320neo even though it has the same engine as the MAXX.
