Those rumors make me sick.

Remember the only reason for this rumours is the unusually secretive way Apple itself decided to run it's business.

If like many/most others they demo'd products at shows that were coming soon, then none of this would be happening.

They are the only ones that could in an instant stop all these rumours.

Rumor mill has been going at full blast the past few days. The new trend is to start rumors about Apple products that are two revisions away. iPad 3, Redisgned MBP in 2012, soon we will get rumors about iPhone 6.

we already have... it will be LTE.

I just heard that the iPhone 6 will have double the resolution of iPhone 5. Not sure from who, but that apparently doesn't matter anymore. It was "some guy". :)

I got the original unibody MacBook in October 08 the day it came out, I will be keeping it until at least my applecare runs out in October of this year. I absolutely refuse to buy a new mbp that looks exactly the same as mine. So i really hope they redesign it either this year or at the beginning of 2012. I just don't want to hold on to it too long without AppleCare protection. I already had a couple of serious issues.

crashing all the time

FTFY

Windows 7 hasn't crashed on me for the 2 years I've been using it, including the betas. I like Apple stuff, but they can no longer rest on the fact that they have a superior OS (since Windows 7 is in fact easier to use in many respects than Snow Leopard). And if Apple can't rely on the myth of a better OS anymore, they'd better start releasing competitively priced and decent, up to date hardware or they will eventually reach their peak and begin to decline.

no!! try as hard as you like rumors. my MBP 2010 and I are perfectly happy! stop creating walls between us...you made us fight over the 2011 beauty, and now this 2012 sexiness is coming up... why? Why? Why?!?!
sure she is getting a bit old, with that C2D.. but ... but... dammit! i have no excuse!
sighh.... im starting to feel bad about my 2010 beauty. Hope you're happy rumors.. hope you are happy.

I am really, seriously, kidding.

I have a hard time believing that Apple would announce a flagship product revision months in advance. Even if they dropped the price of the existing iPad, it would still eat into their sales in a big way.

I actually saw a brief bit on CNN this afternoon that made mention of next week's event - the mainstream media is already catching onto this, since the iPad is so huge. To have that big of a delay wouldn't be a great move for Apple, and they have no need to rush the announcement if there's nothing following it.

I think we should just ignore these rumors now that their is a confirmed Apple event happening next week, where all should be reviled. Ofcourse sites like iLounge will claim stuff from there sources but I would take with a pinch of salt!

I am sure everyone remembers last years Macbook Pro update hell, where every little rumor was taken as gospel and people would be disappointed when a Tuesday would come with no update!

as long as the iPhone 5 isn't affected i'm fine.
I can't wait for the 2012 update, then i guess i'll be updating my MBP in 2013's refresh.

You guys are killing me with this stuff. I don't want a cliffhanger next week. I want to see the next iPad and buy it within a month.

Ditto. No way a company as organized, specialized, and professional as Apple would intentionally piss off everyone by shortening the lifespan of it's hottest product to 6 months. Even just once.

Everyone's underestimating the iPad 2 for no good damn reason. These douche investors are just putting out "notes" to drive down stock prices.

My thoughts....(or should i say hopes lol)

I really dont think that apple would waste their time and release and product and than turn around 5 months later and release another product. that is just not how they roll. Wasn't there some talk last summer from the same sources that said that they were going to release an iPad 2nd gen before Christmas. Well we all know how that turned out didn't we :p.

I think(hope) that this is what will happen. Apple will announce the iPad 2nd gen on Wednesday and than release either it the last Saturday of March or first Saturday of April. I really think it would be the first Saturday of April to mimic last year but I saw that Apple employees were getting vacation blackout notifications for the end of March so lets hope I am wrong because I want the iPad sooner than later :D

Anything different this time around will completely surprise me

No way

Man, I´ve been holding on to buy an iPad since november just because I´d rather wait a few more months to get the new one... but I definitely won´t like to but a new iPad in march/april just to have a newer and better one in september.

Can´t see Apple doing this to it´s customers, but how many of the new iPad buyers will be geek enough to know that a newer one is just a few more months away? Probably a few hundred thousands versus several million who don´y have an idea or simply don´t care, Apple knows that. That´s why it´s probable that they roll out one in march and another one in september. Bummer!

Tony

that means you shouldn't buy AAPL because they're releasing a 4.5 version of iPhone and it will just suck because a company being run by a supply chain management guru apparently has run out of parts to build phones that don't suck. :D

Maybe this is what causes the world to explode.

Scene:
WWDC - 2012

Steve enters the auditorium. Hi folks we have a new gorgeous product to unveil to you today.... The NEW Macbook Pro.

He lifts a cloth from on top of a nearby table.

BOOM!

the whole world explodes from the awesomeness.

Or maybe not. :)

"There is no charge for awesomeness... or attractiveness."

Then... The Kaboom of Doom!

Ah, but why would they want to? Just look at us all here spending time talking about their products. Instant advertising, just by being secretive.

They WON'T DO THAT! Never have, never will. iPad rumors have jumped the shark. Watch on 3/2, and you'll see the features and tech is at least a product deserving of a 1 yr lifespan:)

The rumor clusterf**k has been ridiculous this year! We'll know the plan by next week everyone :)

The Mock Up: I'm not sure if I believe it completely because it just looks a bit off which may be due to the un-streamlined quality, font spacing, logo positioning, etc. It also takes direct design cues from the current 4th gen iPod Touch so that side I can believe. I still take the 1st gen iPad over this Mock up.

This has got to be the craziest rumor day in a long time, if not ever.

I always upgrade my iPhone, and planned on doing the same for the iPad, but I don't think I am comfortable buying two in one year. I am very curious to see what Apple releases next week.

As for the Macbook Pro's, the refresh timeframe makes sense, and next year likely will be a major redesign.

I was a little bummed after reading the title ... even though the likelihood of a redesign was low I was still hoping it might happen. But seriously these machines should be awesome non the less... sadly I forget to appreciate how nice a spec bump is compared to a redesign. It seems like most people on here would buy a macbook with no spec bump if they only changed the color to a darker/stronger liquid metal. Which I want too... but I would greatly prefer a spec bump over a redesign ... seriously what other company makes a laptop that looks half as good as the current unibodies?

iPad 2 will be a solid update! Do I want a Retina Display? OF COURSE! But I will buy iPad 2 and enjoy it till I get iPad 3. If they release iPad 3 earlier than usual, GREAT, I don't have to wait as long for the Retina Display! :D

The only tricky thing will be selling my iPad 2 before they announce iPad 3 if in fact it is toward the end of this year. It will be harder to predict since it is unusual behavior.

As far as a delay after next weeks announcement, it better not be more than a month wait! I'm not giving much credence to rumors of a delay.
