Like the Unibody MacBook Pros, they first came out in 2008, I bought one 3 days after their release, and now my graphics card has failed, my SuperDrive doesn't work, my battery is deformed, my trackpad won't click and my left fan got stuck... If I would have waited a few more months, I would have a much more stable machine... But I had no choice I had a bad computer at that time and I really needed a new one.
Minor updates to the MacBook Pro line?
Thank you very much, I'll just stick to Windows for the next 4 years..
Huge disappointment, as it would be my first macbook.
apple really hasn't done much with the mac pro line, shame if this is true that 2012 is a re-design. especially since this current model has grown so long in the tooth. a spec bump again... with current sales of computers performing well you think hitting the market with a nice re-design would really solidify apples position and keep the competition scrambling.
I've been piggy backing off a work computer for personal use and was really thinking about taking the plunge on a 13" or 15" but if it's another spec bump I might as well wait. I'd like something different from the same basic machine i've used for the past 2 years. (current work machine is a 15 al mbp c2d 2.8)
Looks like the dual core A9 / dual GPU wont be making it for this version, they were on a toss last month, guess this doesnt bode well for those expecting this. On the upside, if this rumor is true, there's a good chance the update "later this year" will feature dual core, dual GPU and probably also double resolution.
What's with the hating on the rumored design. I for one absolutely love it, especially with the speakergrill found on the earlier mockup, similar to that of the G4 powerbooks on the edge of the curve (air-in).
I'm really hoping we'll see this powerbookesque design. I've always found the old PB/MBP design much more attractive then the present one, technological advances like unibody aside ofcourse.
Oh come on now. I think I should stop reading MR until I've bought iPad 2![]()
Then, with all due respect, you are a fool. My 2008 MBP is a fantastic machine and I'm sure the new ones will be even better. I have to deal with Windows every day because I support other people at work and home. I totally switched when I got my MBP and I would NEVER go back. It's by far the best all around laptop I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of them.

iPhone 4 and Verizon iPhone 4. It WAS different after all
(although not replaced)
OMG......... 2012.
I was seriously just crapping in my pants for this year. and all it is a spec bump? just like the ****ing 2010 MBP bump?? REALLY?
I waited since 2009 and another year now? RAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
*cries in corner*
Actually tommorow is the time to bua a new MBP if you're in the market. It is a solidified design, major kinks have been worked out. If 2012 brings a major redesign - well - there you go with the infamous "Don't get a Rev. A machine from Apple" moniker. I wouldn't. Severely burnt myself with the Rev A CoreDuo Intel iMacs. Those were real POS machines.

Also, new Macbook Pros next year? Really?
Does anybody think that iPad 1.5 (or whatever Apple announces next week) does not replace iPad 1? In other words - they continue to sell iPad 1 alongside iPad 1.5?
This might make some sense out of the rumor that they're scaling back iPad 1.5 production estimates.
Apple may cut down the number of iPad 1 models, maybe lower the price, and sell iPad 1.5 models (with camera, etc) at current iPad 1 pricing. Basically expand the product line a little to combat Android, RIM, and WebOS tablets.
Then, in the fall, we get iPad 2 - Retina Display, iOS 5, maybe NFC, Light Peak, etc. and maybe new model (7" iPad, iPad "mini", iPad "Pro") etc. iPad 1/1.5 gets replaced by these new models just in time for Back to School and Holiday buying seasons.
Anyway, just a thought.

Would have been my first Mac ever, was more than ready to dish out the cash and pull out all the stops for a 5k MPB.
Been nearly a full year and apple can't deliver the goods... this whole new design will be what... Another two years? If it takes them this long to throw together a basic refresh then they clearly don't care much for (1) their customers which relates directly to (2) profit.
Glad to see that I am disenchanted for tomorrow, what can I say... they have dissapointed a fair portion of their audience with this rehash. Usually when people extend the wait past the normal ~8 months point something awesome happened...
To only keep the same aluminium unibody design, "yesterdays" gfx card and processor, not even having the ability to do blueray (which major video editors and even basic viewers find as a MUST)... uhmm... wow. This has got to be the single most negative speculation I've ever seen. I'm still baffled, I litterally had 5k and was ready to spend it tomorrow... baffled I am.

If it was warmer, I would be biking everyday. I could go swimming at the two local indoor pools but I have been negligent. IHoly crap 80 hours of gameplay in two weeks?
