I can't even believe this thread exists. Your iPad works as well today as it did yesterday. There is not a single valid reason to be upset. NONE.

This isn't even a first world problem, more like a first world whine.

can you imagine the threads..if apple released this same ipad 4 in spring 2013..

zomg what a BS upgrade.

Welcome to the 21st century!!! Technology moves faster than it did in the 1500's.

For me, I needed an iPad for school this year, but had heard since early August(follow the rumors) they were going to be updating it, so I just borrowed my mom's iPad 2. It's still working fine, as good as it did the day it was purchase a year and a half ago, and I will definitely be on a camping trip on November 2nd (the mall doesn't allow people to be on the sidewalk until 3AM the morning of).

Just because Apple has a new model doesn't mean your iPad 3 magically doesn't work anymore, it just means that this is the 21st century and technology advances faster than it used to.

Once again, Welcome to the 21st century!!!!!!

I understand the disappointment.. im in the same situation but it didnt come with any guarantee.

Just sell and upgrade if you really need too. Im just disappointed i brought a Wi-Fi only ipad - im using it soo much that i wish i had 3g.... oh well..

.. the world is not going to end and there are more important things in LIFE..

but now i need an iphone 5!!! iPhone 4 home button is ***** otherwise i wouldn't bother.

I had a wi-fi only iPad2 and the retina screen with LTE made it the iPad 3 a must for me.

I am hoping we will see a thinner and lighter iPad "5" in 6 mo. I love my launch day iPad 3. I have gotten to use it for 7mo, no reason to be sad, be Happy!!

Omg lets cry about... Seriously people. Don't ever buy an iPad if you're scared of it getting updated...

A lot of people would have planned to sell their iPad 3s in January/February to recoup most of their value and then buy the iPad 4, presuming this would have been released in March. Now those users are SOL, they've had the values of their devices cut drastically, given Apple's current discounting on the iPad 3 models on their refurb store.

So true. The broken cycle effed up the rhythm a lot of folks had going on. Dealing with Apple ever since the iPhone 4 has turned me off from being a first adopter anyway.

It was obvious the A6 wasnt ready for spring, but they had to release something.

For me it was no A6, no purchase. If the A6 chip is what is upsetting you about the ipad 4, then you should never of bought the ipad 3 in the first place.

So you apple excuse makers would be just fine with apple if they announced the iPhone 6 yesterday too saying its going to go on sale immediately? Rendering the iPhone 5 as old news? None of you would return your iPhone 5s since you liked them on Monday? I would not be happy if I had purchased the iPad3 and people have a reason to be upset

Same feeling, I typically bought last generation refurbished Apple product, this time, I bought a brand new "new" ipad, and it became "old" ipad so quick, should have waited now, and I can get refurbished one for nearly $200 less (including tax).

how is it $200 less? I must be missing something. $499 and now refurbished are $379.

Actually I wouldn't because I know things move, also, bad example, because well, it's just a bad example, no one would do that! Think of another example or excuse and come back! ;)

So my iPad 3 that I purchased 4 months ago has already been super-seeded by the iPad 4.
If this is what it takes for Apple to innovate, I'm all for it.

The simple fact is, you can either afford to buy the latest Apple products or you can't. Nothing new about that one.

A faster upgrade cycle appeals to me. Bring it on. :)

Why is it a bad example? You seriously wouldn't be upset that you spent X amount of dollars on something and then a newer (better) version was announced a short while later?

We have to wait and see if the new iPad 4th gen is actually 2x faster than 3rd gen. The speed increase may not be night and day difference as a lot of people think. But even if the 4th gen iPad is really that much faster than iPad 3 was I don't believe it's worth upgrading, at least not from an iPad 3. Maybe it makes sense for first gen iPad owners or 2nd gen owners, but not 3rd gen owners.

it's worth it if you fall within the unofficial 30 day exchange period

In Canada, it was $520 for ipad 3 wifi and now refurbished is $380, so the difference $140+13% tax in Ontario=around $160, so I should not say $200, but $150 at least.

It is, just look at the Geekbench scores of the iPhone 5 (A6 chip) and iPad 3 (A5X Chip).

Call apple

Voice your concern, call apple at 800-275-2273, tell them you are upset. Tell them you feel jaded, I did this and got $100 off another product. the more we call, the more likely they will create a buy back program. I suggested that IF your machine is in good shape, and IF you have Apple care and pay $100 you can get a new ipad. They were not totally turned off by this, but it was some underlings of the company. as of now you can return if its been within 30 days and get a new ipad, I think, IMHO, it needs to be for the 7 months the machine was current.

And Yes I know technology moves forward, and yes I know its the same machine i bought, however, had there been a hint of a new ipad 4 months ago i would have waited for one of two things...lower cost, ipad 3 is already down 130 on the store, its in the refurb section, or just wait for the new ipad.

I waited for launch of the 2nd gen to get for my daughter, this is not a minor upgrade this is a pretty big bump, and it would be good if they respected everyone who is pissed off about it, and those that don't care, hey keep your machine, its all good.

Can't believe how pissed of I am that the update has come so quickly. I feel like selling my iPad and telling them to stick it up their arses!!

The faster processor and better front camera is ideal for the iPad 3 retina display. This is what the iPad 3 should of been!

Your iPad works the same today as yesterday. That upset about it, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Android is real good about not doing upgrades to their devices, sounds like you would be happy there.

I myself own an ipad 3. I'm typing on it now. I works perfectly. What I'm annoyed about is not the fact that the new ipad contains a better FaceTime camera, I don't use FaceTime. It's not the fact that its 2x faster, I don't really play games. I also don't care about the new charging cable. What I'm annoyed about is the fact that when I bought my product I hoped that it would be the 'latest' one for 12 months at least. Lets all be honest, part of the reason we buy these new devices every year is to have the latest gadget regardless of the new features it contains. Its the fact that my ipad 3 was only new for 6 months. That's what I'm annoyed about.

I'm totally with the people in this thread who are upset with the update. I wonder though if so many people would be this unhappy if Apple just quietly would've just bumped the specs, didn't make such a big deal of it and not call it the iPad 4 and kept it as the 3. They update stuff all of the time and don't announce it.
