I knew I should have used a smiley before,) I meant it in a good way. I also didn't see the title at first and was wondering if he meant Asia or Europe, but then I saw the title. It would have been weird if he was the only one having "preparing for shipment" - because there is a lot of people who were very fast to order and are checking all the time the status of the order.. like me (and you, I am sure,)
And now I am totally out of topic already so I will shut up for a while:eek:

Not to worry. :)

Seems like each country has different internal shipment dates and based off this thread, Europeans are last.

That's BS in my opinion. Why open up pre-orders and make it sound like we're all going to get serviced at the same time. Thanks for sharing though.

I'm looking at a mid-end of May delivery, so I'm just going to leave off checking for the next 2 weeks and jut put it out of my mind.
It's only annoying me when I come on here and hear of people walking into Best Buy only to walk out with one. :(

If I had that much will power and discipline I wouldn't be checking every hour!

There is for us all just don't better advice!! We've to leave it.....if hopefully works. I'll get mine not before June so hopefully I get it out of my mind and won't check it day after day..

This is excellent advice for us all.

The one way to make time pass exceptionally slowly is to keep checking the clock.

Put another way: "A watched kettle never boils."

Exactly.

Oh and I'm in Cheshire too. What are the chances! :D

I was feeling optimistic for an early delivery but I'm not so sure now. My credit card has been showing the charge pending for 6 days and nothing has happened in all that time.

Quite frustrating really, particularly when deliveries have been made in Australia and New Zealand.

I'm really baffled as to how how Apple could have mismanaged this launch in such a spectacularly inept way and why no explanation has been forthcoming.

Pending charge refunded to account

Hi

Gold 1.3 GHz - 512GB Order 10th xx:14:14 (confirmation email)

The pending charge had been applied to my account since the 22nd, this morning, 28th, it was reinstated to my account. Spoke to Apple and to my bank. Told nothing is wrong and that the order is processing as normal and the bank said nothing wrong from their side.

I hope that all is OK, anybody else had their funds pending then find it back in the account?

Ohh and Apple Care was billed on the 13th

Still no change here. I'm getting kinda jealous of the fact that you guys have a better charging system that should provide a bit of insight. My payment was made in full at the moment of ordering, it's just the way our Dutch IDEAL system works, and Apple has been sitting on my money for weeks now.

This is turning out my best and longest considered Apple purchase by far, not by choice but forced by the long wait. Due to it's inherent compromises and high price it's eating me up. Normally I have some doubts too, but after just diving in head first I'm always happy with my purchase and forget about my worries. But now...

In same position as you guys in the UK. 1.3/512GB ordered within several mins. I'm in the first batch 8th May to 14th. Daily check is getting frustrating, I (foolishly) hoped that Apple were suggesting a worst case with those dates... But that is looking very unlikely now.

Seems like a bad launch. My local UK store has all colours but no stock, and they are telling people to order online with a 4 to 6 week delay. Seems like a terrible use of floor space... I wonder what happened? Not enough screens? Looks like a bad supply problem.

Since I am the opening poster of this thread, a little update; I didnt want to wait for about 6 weeks to get one from Apple Online Store, so I ordered one with Best Buy.

Mine is received by my friend in Washington, shipped by Best Buy (incl $130 off :) ) He just send me a picture of him holding the box...quite a teaser that was!! ggrrr haha

Will be in my hands next week here in The Netherlands.

Gonna be a slow week, I guess ;)

What about customs/douane?

Hello Geert

Will you not find the wrong plug on the charger annoying A US kb on a UK machine is hard-work for the Engles. But otherwise, I agreed it's a seriously good idea and probably a lot cheaper.

my total savings: 310 euro (incl movers coupon $130)
And I am using the extension cord/plug I have here at home. Works perefectly.
And about the keyboard, I really prefer a US keyboard...So I am good.

And what about you share the love and ask your friend to bring some more for your MacRumors friends ;)
I will take a gold 1.3Ghz please (256GB is enough)

To come back to serious stuff, a product in my order just went to "preparing for delivery" it is my ....... USB adaptor
Destination Austria

On the iCentre site in The Netherlands I saw when I order I new 12" MacBook I would get it next week (6 May), called them and that is true they said.....strange when Apple still is saying 4-6 weeks....
So I called Apple and they found it strange to hear that iCentre gets it before them but Apple didn't gave a direct answer to that question. He said that my target date is 29 May but with delay till 10 June before I get my new MacBook.

What should I do? Cancelling my order from Apple and ordering one at iCentre? Or just have the patient at wait till I get it from Apple?

IIRC when Apple's website says "Available to Ship: 3-4 weeks", that time stays constant from your original date of order, i.e. and they do not update the timing as it progresses. It will suddenly move to "preparing shipment" or whatever, rather than saying "Available to ship: 2-3 weeks" "Available to ship: 1-2 weeks" etc.

I haven't gotten an update on my USB adaptor though, still 11-15 May and "Processing Items". 8-18 May for the laptop, as before.

I understand that and mine is still on processing items with a target date from 29 May till 10 June.
But I just don't understand that iCentre gets it earlier than Apple theirselves?

We'll see who's faster Apple or iCentre (The Netherlands)...

I ordered since 23 April a MacBook 12" 1,1Ghz (base model) in gold which has a target date from 29 May till 10 June and is still in processing

A few minutes ago a made a reservation at iCentre for the MacBook 12" 1,1GHz (base model) in gold. They're saying I can expect it next week (6 May).

Also in Switzerland, 1.3/512 space grey, ordered about 15 minutes after opening time on the 10th.

And yes - USB-C adaptor is "Preparing for Shipping".

I just went to the iCentre shop in Amsterdam. They told me that the first shipment was scheduled to arrive last Tuesday and now the first delivery is scheduled for Friday May 8th, but they expect that delivery date to be pushed back too. :(

Friday 8th May is till earlier than Apple is saying to me that I can expect it on 29 May. Even if iCentre expect delivery delay (let's say 1 week) I'll still get it earlier than from Apple.
