Got my Sheath.

It's the first time I have had one since my iPhone 7 and I don't like it. It's so grainy compared to how they used to be, almost borderline rough? The sides don't find snug on the phone either; the Apple leather case fit a lot better. £28.00 for these cases used to be well worth it, not anymore IMO.

Also it's quite a bit chunkier than the leather case.

So it's going back.

Keep in mind that the phones, now having squared edges, are going to change how cases feel in the hand, as well. I think all cases are going to feel thicker with this new iPhone design. Even the slimmest ones make a big difference in comfort to me. The only one that doesn’t noticeably affect comfort for me is the Caudabe Veil. Obviously, you get mostly scratch protection with this, but that’s my point. Every case is going to feel exponentially thicker with a squared design because the edge of the phone that makes contact with your hand has more surface area.

I just got my iPhone 12 pro max in and tested the case.

The case has the same exact texture as the iPhone X sheath. It feels slightly more textured right now because it‘s new but that’s how they all feel when they are new. As they wear down they get a little smoother. I definitely prefer the texture of the sheath over the apple silicon case as that thing is a lint magnet. Sheath has a great feel IMO.

However, I had the same issue that iFone88 had with his in terms of fit. When I first put the case on the sides of the case did not hug the phone. Certainly not like the iPhone X version. The case is VERY tight to put on but somehow remains just slightly loose in the middle of the sides. I spoke with Caudabe and they recognized the issue with a small batch of their cases. They said the sides should conform better over the next several minutes. After a couple hours I can confirm the sides are much better fitting but still not perfect.

The other difference I noticed are the buttons are much more shallow compared to the iPhone X version. Buttons still work fine but it doesn’t feel as nice. Caudabe also recognized this issue and said they are correcting that and will have an updated sheath within the next 2 weeks that will have fixed the fit and button issues. They will be sending me the updated case when it’s available.

Color wise, it’s fine but I do wish they offered more colors. In certain lighting the grey doesn’t look that much different than the navy IMO. I asked if they were planning on making a red case and they said not right now but they will pass along the feedback.

I have an ESR screen protector on the phone and the case still offers a little screen lip (not much though).

Overall, it still looks and feels great. Just a little disappointed in the fit since it’s not yet perfect as I’ve come to expect with Caudabe. However, their customer service is great and I know they will get it right with the revised version.

Anyway here are pictures the 12 pro max compared to the iPhone X sheath in red and blue. Note the thickness with the case on is almost exactly as thick as the iPhone X with the sheath.

I have also this problem with the buttons that are hard to press. I’m contacting the support (Caudabe have a really good support).

Same issues with my Sheath on 12 Pro Max. I agree with you on the texture part, exact same as my X sheath. Mine also fits horribly and I'm also in line to get a replacement when they get the reworked cases done. I really hope its better, the sheath has been my favorite case for years.

Agreed not sure what I would get if the replacement isn’t better. Maybe an apple case? Idk if I can go back to the apple lint magnet which also used to be thicker/wider than the sheath. Really hoping caudabe comes through!

I’m sure the replacement will be fine. I’ve got the 12 Pro Sheath and am still really happy with it. Also got a 12 Mini Sheath and confirm that they both fit like a glove. I didn’t get the 12 Pro Max, but I’m sure if they say they’re taking care of it the replacement will be fine. Can’t say enough good things about their customer service.

Interesting that you’re upgrading from the 7 and don’t like it. I still have my Sheath from the 8 (which was the same as the 7) and I vastly prefer the Sheaths from the past couple years. I upgrade my phone almost every year and I always use the Sheath as my daily driver. The fit and texture of the case has gotten noticeably better over the years. The ones from back during the 7 and 8 feel really flimsy and slick to me now.

I'm long time fan of sheath cases, but I've got a faulty case for my iphone 12 pro this time and I'm so disappointed! Sides are loose and exposed and it gets even worse if weather is cold. The resin is literally shrinking, exposing even more phone body!

I’ve heard nothing but good things about these cases but having read about some of the issues, I think I’m going to wait a month or two until Caudabe rework the design and get it all sorted. I still think they are the nicest looking cases I’ve seen and even nicer than the Apple offerings. I can’t be doing with getting replacements so will wait this out. I have noticed Spigen have finally released their Navy Blue Liquid Air case, but the lip on the front doesn’t look big enough for adequate protection. I also prefer the look of the texture on the Caudabe sheath.

I’m not upgrading, I last used one when I had an iPhone 7 about five years ago.

Sorry to hear. Yours looks way worse than mine for sure. Contact support so they can send you a replacement when the revised version is released.

Looking at mine the screen protection lip locks the phone in at the rounded corners but the lip doesn't appear to be quite tall enough to clear the sides.

My 12 mini case does not fit right, I’ve contacted them and awaiting a reply. I’ve used the Shealth on my last 3 iPhones and probably bought about 6 cases from them, never had an issue until now. I’m sure it will be fixed soon. I just got the mini case in two days before I got my phone so they are still having issues currently.

Gee that sucks, I must of got lucky with my black 12 case, guessing they are made in China but US owned?

A friend of mine who is also a big Sheath fan was in touch with their customer service over the weekend and they said the 12 Pro revised batches are just a few days from being released. You should contact them and get a replacement.

For reference's sake, my sister just got a Sheath for her 12 mini and I got another one in yesterday for the Pro Max (still debating whether or not to keep the phone). My sister said hers fits perfectly. And my 12 Pro Max Sheath has no issues either. Really loving the case on the 12 Pro Max especially because of how massive the phone is.

It looks like the black, grey, and navy are all back in stock on their website. Anyone know if these are the updated versions with better fit?

Not sure, but I’m hoping they finally send me my navy replacement AND that it fits properly.

I ordered the Lucid Clear way before the 12 Pro Max launched and the fitment was not that great, there was wiggle room and the bottom of the lip pushed outwards. I emailed them over the weekend and they said I got the very first batch and they know of the issue and will be sending me an updated version in the upcoming weeks. Overall the case is VERY slippery, and I am afraid it might slip out of my hands one day. I had the Sheath on my 11 Pro Max before and I think I might get that again. I got the Lucid Clear because I wanted to actually see my Pacific Blue phone :)

I can confirm. Just got mine for the 12 Pro. The fit is excellent. Very happy with both the product and the service. I now have three total and all three are great (the first two did not need a replacement).

I’m looking to purchase the very same case. Please do let us know when you receive the new case, or at least when they ship it to you.
