Going, going, gone. Apple's loss not mine it's an exodus, with so many professional users approaching or surpassing breaking point. Once you add $$$$$$ into the equation it becomes a very simple decision.

What I'm interested in is the hardware delivering as advertised, not an extended warranty on piss poor designed hardware. sick and tired of Apple's excuses and it's defenders...

Q-6

This is a good point. I still have an ibook that I can boot up right now. it still works. The 2012 macbook pros will last for freaking ever. They kept going thinner. In the process they over engineered about everything. Especially the keyboard. Make it thicker again. Bring back the awesome keyboard. Add an SD Card reader. Make it last forever again. I remember when I had arguments with other mac users because we thought applecare was pointless because no one ever needed it. Good times.

There's one argument we don't need to have anymore..

A buyer of a current MacBook who doesn't buy AppleCare either plans to sell it before a year is up, simply likes setting fire to money.... or is insane.

Have you used many laptops in the last 10 years? They're mostly trash. By year 3, they are starting to seriously show their age both physically and in performance.

The whining about the keyboard, which is easily replaceable, and the over blown flex gate issue is about all that's come out of Apple in the last few years regarding their laptops.
Your definition of “easily replaceable” is quite interesting. By this measure every problem plaguing the current MBP lineup (you missed some, like SSDs and screen coating) can be classified as ‘easy’ because it requires replacement of half of the computer.

The KB isn't as easy as popping the key yourself, but it's pretty easy. Apple handles it.

The screen coating was another overly dramatic issue. I had that year MacBook and religiously cleaned my screen with a cloth. The screen coating never changed over 5 years.

What's with the SSDs now?

$15/mo to protect my original $2800 investment? Easiest decision ever.

Let’s talk after the repair programs ends and you will get slapped with $700 repair bill for what should be $50 part and two removed screws.

As for the screen, instead of admiring how my laptop looks, I prefer working on it without rubber gloves and cleaning supplies. And the SSD is nothing really critical, you can randomly loose all your data, that’s all. Easy peasy. And it is only affecting those losers who couldn’t afford the proper touchbar equipped professional machine. At least that’s what Apple says.

I wish my mba 2010 keyboard was easlily replaceable. My kitty cat knocked the mba down in august and the top keys dont work. Im looking into getting that repaired.

Until the SSD problem becomes more widespread, I'll reserve comment.

And after 4 years? You're hosed.
I'm talking about ANY of the multiple of design flaws in these Macbook Pros.

A keyboard is a wear and tear item, so design flaw vs use at year 4 is debatable if you never had problems before.

The screen going is something they should extend for at least another year.

So you're saying its okay if the keyboard fails after 4 years and it's not repairable? Stop drinking the Apple Koolaid dude.

Never said that all. I'm saying it's hard to prove a design flaw at year 4. My 2013 keyboard had multiple failing keys near the end of year 3. Was that a design flaw too?

Isnt Apple Care only for those whom purchase Apple products that are 34 years of age and younger? That is why i refused the service in 2017 when I had to buy an IPad because 36 year olds and older take care of their products. Since this Apple care is an extended service, new products are still warranted within a several month period if the item fails due to a malfuntion.

It's a design flaw from the moment you bought it. Apple didn't release a repair program for nothing.

You're not getting it. You can't scream about a design flaw 3-4 years down the road unless you have 100% proof it was the flaw and not just wear and tear that caused it.

No, no, no. The cutoff is 25 year old. And it is applicable to Car rentals, not Apple Care. Otherwise ok.
