I love the Mac OS but can't stand Safari and Mail. I tend to use Chrome, Firefox and Thunderbird. TB has return receipts and works well with Gmail and Google calendar.
I very well may jump ship because of the lackluster hardware though. Thinking about building a PC with the possibility of turning it into a hackintosh. If it fails, I'll have a cool PC.
I keep seeing people settling for slower or older machines because they don't trust the new Mac hardware. You shouldn't have to do that.
The imac's and minis get too hot. And if you adjust fan curves in the new imac's you threaten to build up dust that can get caught in the 5k screen. There's even a lawsuit concerning that. And I know there's AppleCare. But it only covers 3 years. What happens at 3.5 years? Too expensive to gamble. At least I can dust a PC. A good case HAS filters. And I can replace/upgrade parts as needed.
Truly I just want a Mac like my good ol cheese grater. I kept it alive for over 10 years and I'm considering adding an SSD.
