Report back how it goes. Some tips: if you do get a replacement, inspect the phone, check for any defects before you walk out the store. Don't accept anything that is imperfect to you.I got a Genius Bar appointment in a couple hours.
I'm really nervous
Hi all,
Some issues here, my second 6s (the first one had a bad screen), the second have some dust inside the camera lens, and this issue around four corners and at some places on the back. A gap between the plastic antennas and the aluminum.
Some of you have this issue ? It's not a big issue, but I think it should be perfect.
Yeah I think that's what I'm going to do.
If it's worse I'm going to ask for my original/current one back
I'm wondering how many times I should dip my toes into this territory
Once maybe twice?
I'm also wondering if I should bring my 6+ in my pocket as well just in case as another reference device
I don't think you can. AFAIK they have to return your old one before they can open/issue the replacement one. Once this happens, the replacement one is your phone, not the old one.
An issue with the replacement would result in a further return/replacement. They can't give you back a device that's considered faulty (by your own definition, because that's why you are swapping it)
i was pretty transparent, the person who helped me said she couldn't go rifling through replacements.
i said i want one shot and then if not ill just wait a few months to try my luck again, she hesitated, then opened the box and let me examine the phone with wrap on and breezing past the set up prompts, and I said I'll take it
Good enough (I think, I hope) i'm getting less picky as I get older
That happened to me on the 6 Plus. Replacement was good at the apple store, moment I got home, noticed an issue.Problem with the store is everything looks great under their lighting. However, get it home and BAM! Had that with several ipads.

They had it in stock so during the appointment today I got it swapped

White box.
Not sure, the model number starts with N. I feel like my retail one was M.
But its a week 38 from punching it in, my original was week 37. that's still mid September, before the phone was released. I think it's safe to say its new, unless someone at Foxconn got a loaner and was fiddling with it for a bit, in which case you win (and deserve it, that job must be really depressing)
..but they are designated with a different model number. Maybe so apple can keep track of it better from inventory standpoint, idk.
I also had no choice, got my phone through a 2 year at att store and they won't be getting any more in any time soon. a few stores said they only got a few and that was launch day only :/
that and restocking fee, no thanks!
They will waive the $35 restocking fee since it is a defect, I already chatted with them. The wait is fine, since it looks like it is less than a week for my model, but the possibility of getting something worse is what is making me hesitate.Returning to att will mean waiting a while for another s plus if you plan on getting another from them.
And incurring 35 restocking fee.
My original 6S was also a week 37 from Foxconn, and my ERS 6S (coming from PA) is a week 35 from Pegatron.
As many others have pointed out, I truly doubt the replacements could be refurbished. Even in your scenario above, there just would not be time to have someone get it on a Friday, return it to a store or Apple that same day or Saturday, have it make it's way to PA by Monday, be inspected, reboxed, and shipped out Monday.
What kind of colorimeter do you have?My 6S screen is noticeably darker in the upper half. Measured it with a colorimeter just to make sure I'm not imagining things. About 480 candela in the lower half, 430 in the upper. I find that difference unacceptable on such a small screen. For comparison, my iPhone 6 has a difference of only 8 candela.
So true. Especially for devices that get replaced so frequently.i'm getting less picky as I get older
