try a full restore before you start installing all your data on it. it worked on mine.
It's such a widespread issue that I'm just going to hold off until Apple comments on it. Really don't want to go through the hassle of restoring my phone when many people say it doesn't make a difference (especially considering that it froze not 24 hours after a full restore).

I have 3 days before my 14-day return window ends...no replacement 6s+ are in store. Have been checking everyday. They want me to return and repurchase vs getting it fixed under warranty (which I agree with) but if there aren't any in store I'm screwed.
I am in the same exact boat as you....up against the return period. I have an express replacement ordered but it is taking quite some time to ship. More than likely it will get here AFTER the return period so I will be forced to play the replacement lottery of returning until an acceptable one is found. No stock in local Apple stores either.

I am on my third phone. All 6S Plus. The first, a silver, generated invalid sim and sim not installed messages. After a replaced sim, I was getting warning messages every two minutes, along with network activation issues. The second, a gold, locked up. It did not respond to attempted hard resets or connecting to iTunes. After three hours, it eventually responded to a hard reset. The third phone (silver) has been fine for 2 days so far. However, the whites are ever so slightly than the last two phones. The variation between the phones, relative to whiteness is very subtle and barely noticeable. No dead pixels or shading issues. Last year, I had the 6 gold. I find the silver, understated, by comparison. I moved to the plus because of vision issues and have had no difficulty in transition.

i get the impression from some folks here that 99.9% of all of these phones have dust in them if you look hard enough.

no major issues here, though i'm afraid to take a loupe to it and find something.

two or three times now my 6S+ has gone a little haywire and the volume and ringer level indicator has stayed on the screen and moved up or down (the level, not the actual image). i can make it stop if i mess with the phone. it's almost like the button is stuck, but it's only happened a couple of times and most of the time the buttons work perfectly fine. thinking maybe it's more of a software glitch rather than a hardware glitch. definitely not my case pressing against the buttons as it happened once without the case on.

I'm in the same boat.

I have an express replacement set up with Apple for a bad Ear Receiver. The Ear Receiver makes a rattle sound when I talk to people.

It's a iPhone 6S+ 64 GB Space Gray. Talked to Apple today. Was on hold for 35 mins to find out that it's completely backordered. I called Apple Care, asked for repair status, and then the lady contacted central dispatch to find that out. They have no ETA on when they are receiving to fill these back orders on Apple Care+. Also no store in my area has this model in stock.

On a related note. My wife iPhone 6 also has a defect. Bad Oleophobic Coating and her first one had dead pixels. Apple QC has really gone down hill.

i went to return my iphone 6s today and was told that i will be charged restocking fee, even IF the device is defective because its opened. My 6s continues to turn off on its own at least once or twice a day, Plus the yellow tint on my phone, I just don't want it anymore and rather stick with my iPhone 6 for next few months.

My question is, how would I know that my device is defective or not, without opening it? Once i open it, i am stuck with restocking fee. It doesnt make sense to me. I will try going to another ATT store tomorrow or calling them. Any pointers on returning it without the fee?

I used to work in a cellphone store. You just need make sure you are speaking directly with a supervisor. If you have to, call customer service while you are in the store. If the device is truly defective, they should not force a fee on you like that. However, I'm thinking their logic is if you are just returning without exchanging, using a defect may appear as an excuse.

However, I'd still try to speak with the head honcho. If no good, call customer service before you return it...

Worst comes to worst, you could flip your 6s after swapping it.

AT&T store was unwilling to not eat the restocking fee, even with a yellowing blotch defect..

It's also a good thing I didn't move forward, as Plus's are in a serious shortage right now and I'd be waiting indefinitely.

Fortunately, this is probably the last time I'll get a 2 year contract going.

yeah she even admitted my screen looked yellow compared to hers, but yet she was adamant about charging me the fee. I will try another store or cs tomorrow. Usually i would just exchange it, but i rather just wait few months instead of getting another device only to have it turn off on its own when i get home, cant risk missing calls.

thanks for your response!

Gf's 6s had a scratch on the screen right out of the box. Exchanged it, no questions asked.

Is that what the hold up is with these replacements is that they are backordered? Every rep I talk to gives me some new song and dance every time but have yet to commit to them saying they are short on units...Usually express replacements ship out same or next business day. Its been a few days now and no movement or update.

My 6S plus is like this. It does not snap in like my coworkers and my iphone 6, iPad etc but not super loose. I am going to see how it behaves in real world use. I'm tried of exchanging, restoring etc.

My first replacement was like this. New one is not (didn't exchange for this reason)

What does that tell you? I've never had a defect. But maybe because I'm not putting my phone under a microscope. Figuratively or literally. It's a phone.

This exactly! The more you look the more you'll find. I think however, defects in the screen are hard to overlook

The defects that I had with my 6s Plus brought an adventure. Because of the problems that I had with my silver 6s+, I ended up returning it. All the other 6s+ models in the store also had the same problems, so I decided to just get a 6s. When we opened up the new 6s, half the screen wouldn't light up. We immediately did another return for another 6s, but ATT decided to block my upgrade and told me I wouldn't be able to upgrade for 72 hours (business days, not including weekends, this was on a Saturday...). I had already returned the previous 6s, so I had no phone, and had to wait 4-5 days for my eligibility to reopen. The apple rep said that I could just buy a phone, set up the sim with my number, and return the phone when my eligibility reopens. I decided to do that, but when I got home, my plan still stated that I was in the NEXT plan (paying the $31.xx/month). So I bought a 6s, and was paying for a 6s I didn't have. I called ATT again and he said the problem would be fixed within 24 hours (still not fixed...). I did end up getting a $100 credit to my account though. After using the 6s for a while, I couldn't keep it. I missed the screen size of the 6s+ too much. So i returned the 6s for a 16gb RoseGold 6s+. The Apple rep told me when they do get the 64gb in stock I could just go in for an exchange. A couple of hours later, I found a 64gb ATT RoseGold 6s+ (using istocknow), but it was 1.5 hours away... Being the crazy guy that I am, I reserved it and drove to the Apple store to get it. When I got there, there was another man complaining that he made a reservation for the same phone, but because of a glitch he wasn't able to get it (it was reserved to me). So, I waited for that guy to leave, and then made the switch from the 16gb to the 64gb. When my upgrade reopens, I'll get a refund for the full price of the phone, keep the phone, and have it switch to the NEXT plan that I originally had....

Sorry for the long story!

I'm going to come off as a jerk but are comments like this necessary in a thread marked "phones with factory defects "? You're not contributing and your comment does nothing to help.

Actually the thread is titled "anyone get a factory defect?" NO, I did not.
Next time I probably won't answer.....

And by the way, I agree with the first part of you statement

On my second iPhone 6s Plus 128GB. Nothing is wrong with either phone. I scanned for dead pixels and did not find any on both displays. Neither is 100 percent uniform but I've never seen an LCD in my entire life with a perfectly uniformed display so it doesn't bother me.

Reason I got a replacement is because T-Mobile decided to pay off the $285 I paid up front since they took about 2-3 months to fix my dang bill. I can't complain about a $700 128GB iPhone 6s Plus.

Do you guys think i have to replace this again? Bluish tinge on the upper left corner and kind of yellowish at the bottom..or does this picture seem okay with you guys? I am not sure if you can see what i can see from the phone itself..

Thanks

I have a popping / clicking screen and a 10% darker top left quarter of the display. One of the reasons I upgraded to the 6S from my 6 was the naive belief that these issues might have been addressed.

I am no longer prepared to visit the "genius" bar, so I've purchased another and will return the worst one. I've been here before and it does come to something when you have to choose which phone is the least worst!

Replacement arrived today. The screen is perfectly uniform and a nice white, not too cool or yellow. A rare beast by all accounts.

Not bad, but...

This one has a crack in the plastic frame between the display glass and metal body and a scratch. Both next to the charging port and the display is nowhere near flush this time, with a rough edge feeling all around.

So this proves you choose least worst and in this case I'll take the nicer screen.

Shame.

I found a weirdness that might be a defect or just the display's design. The backlight has way worse edges on the 6s than the 6. Don't know if it's meant to be that way because of 3D Touch, but the top of the screen also has faint bright spots where the LEDs are in the backlight.

You are joking, right?

[QUOTE="PepsiCola, post: 21955196, . The 6S is 10% heavier too, you can really feel the difference in your hand and in your pocket[/QUOTE]

Maybe a visit to the gym can help with this

My 6S+ is like that. I'm not exchanging though, it doesn't bother me and most (if not all) suffer from it.
