When mine was working it took about 10-15 seconds after it lost connection with the phone.
Still refusing to connect today. Ticket lodged with EE L2 support to investigate. There are some other folk on the EE Community forums with the same issue.
Yep, this is exactly the same issue that I'm having. I updated my watch to 4.1 beta last night to see if it made any difference, but it hasn't.My friend bought their watch last week and it connected fine and made a few test calls, we both went out today and mine conncected to EE within a few minutes but his didnt anymore. Tried rebooting the watch and it wont connect, toggling airplane mode forces it to connect then it slowly drops signal untill it disconnects. Was in the middle of a park with no wifi spots about so it couldnt be the captive portal issue
Damn, I wonder if different cell towers will make a difference. Going away tomorrow so will try it in a different area. Just annoying it was working and everything we do wont let it connectYep, this is exactly the same issue that I'm having. WhatsApp works over LTE for me.Mine was working perfectly tonight. Just wished third party notifications worked over LTE. Maybe in the future.
Was your iPhone turned off? I found it can forward sms and iPhone notifications if the phone is on but when off I only get iMessage or cellular calls.WhatsApp works over LTE for me.
shame you can' reply on whatsapp.WhatsApp works over LTE for me.
Remember the watch can only use 4G*. If you have 5 bars of 3G that is no use to the watch.Around 4 miles away from MK it lost the signal then refused to connect to EE again, even when parked up next to an EE cell site (where iPhone had full strength signal).
This is an EE network problem - not my watch.
So I went to Milton Keynes this morning and the watch worked fine. Varied between 1 and 4 dots of signal strength but never dropped the connection. Yes, 4G. At the moment, at home, I'm in a strong 4G area (4 bars on the iPhone) but the watch won't connect. In MK, with a weaker (2 bar) 4G signal on the iPhone, the watch was showing 1-2 dots and working great for calls when the iPhone was put into airplane mode.Remember the watch can only use 4G. If you have 5 bars of 3G that is no use to the watch.
Do you recall what kind of connection it was?
Not personally, but if there's anybody else in the Northampton area with a watch, I'd be interested to know if theirs connects.Do you know anyone else you can ask to see if they get signal on their watch?
I don’t know if this helps but I turned my phone off and had steady connection all the way to the M1Not personally, but if there's anybody else in the Northampton area with a watch, I'd be interested to know if theirs connects.
Thanks, I haven't tried that side of Northampton - I'll give it a go later...I don’t know if this helps but I turned my phone off and had steady connection all the way to the M1
Out of curiosity if your on your home network and turn your phone off can you ring your watch via the ‘WiFi calling’ if you have it enabled on your phone before you shut it off? My watch receives cellular calls on WiFi but the watch having issues goes straight to voicemailThanks, I haven't tried that side of Northampton - I'll give it a go later...
Yes, just tried that and it works - call comes through on the watch.Out of curiosity if your on your home network and turn your phone off can you ring your watch via the ‘WiFi calling’ if you have it enabled on your phone before you shut it off? Correct if she's referring to SMS, but you can send/receive iMessages with the phone off.Erica griffin on YouTube says if your phone is switched off you can’t send texts but you can make calls?
That’s good then your account and eSim must be set up right. My friends issue might either be hardware or account issue as they don’t get WiFi calls. EE are meant to be re-adding the watch to the account can take up to 72 hours so if that doesn’t work looks like Apple will need to replace it.Yes, just tried that and it works - call comes through on the watch.
They seem to have sorted out most people who've been waiting to get connected, but it's a frustrating wait...That’s good then your account and eSim must be set up right. I could of sworn I made and received calls over WiFi, I’m away for the weekend so do t has access to WiFi to try. Can anyone else make WiFi calls with the phone off? I could swipe my friends phone and turn their hotspot on to tryThey seem to have sorted out most people who've been waiting to get connected, but it's a frustrating wait...
Incidentally, I can receive calls on WiFi but can't make them. I think that requires network support that EE don't provide.
Wi-Fi calling does not work on the Watch. As @mzanker mentioned, UK networks don't support it.
I tested it just now by turning my iPhone off and verifying the Watch was on Wi-Fi. I started a call, and then turned the Wi-Fi router off mid-call.
The call continued uninterrupted.
So, the call is going via cellular even when the Watch is in Wi-Fi mode.
That's why I can't make calls on WiFi - because the watch won't connect to EE in this location. Interesting that I can receive them purely on WiFi, though...Wi-Fi calling does not work on the Watch. As @mzanker mentioned, UK networks don't support it.
