I still have the same phone I purchased the day after the iPhone 3G launch date. It turns out that 4 hours in line was worth it. :)

Before that I had a 2G phone that I replaced 4 times!

I have a day 1 iPod touch that I've never returned or sold. It still works but it's pretty banged up. I can't say that about the iPhone. Every iPhone has problems but my iPod touch was perfect. I can't explain it. I guess... get it early to get the best quality. Later on in the production, the quality decreases.

I have the same one from launch, even though the ringer switch broke within the first hour of having it. I decided to keep it because of all the other complaints I heard, and was scared I would end up with one of those. I will however exchange it soon.

Have never exchanged an iPhone. Wouldn't do so frivolously. Don't think Apple and AT&T owe me anything except performance as advertised, and would expect to pay the price for any damage I might do to my phone myself. Have been lucky enough not to have come upon a defective phone. I imagine all that puts me solidly among the majority of MR readers.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/7A300g Safari/525.20)

I still have the 1st gen. since last May. Now my Dad happily uses it.
I've had my 3G since the end of December. I've had very good luck with my iPhones so far. No issues yet.

It just seems like the fashion is to get a replacement from the Apple store and that all the cool kids are doing it.

I can just see some you like "My iPhone doesn't taste right when I lick it." *hops into car and races down to Apple store*

I have had my original since labor day weekend... Why are people so quick to return them??

Yes, got mine back in July when they first came out. It seems to me that people change the phone for the dumbest reasons. Most of the time its software related issues not the phone. I remember reading how people changed phones lots of times in the beginning because of 2.0, 2.01 and 2.1 when I knew it was just software.

Had mine since day one. First person in town to walk out the AT&T store with one.

Same 3G I bought on Launch Day. I've had ZERO real issues with it. Musta been a good batch :D

Yup still got my original 2G iPhone we were given pre launch (although it sits in a cupboard now a days) and never had either 3G one replaced all still on originals :)

My girlfriend has had her 3G one replaced 3 times now

Not me  lol

I still got mine since original June release. I got it about five days after it came out. I can't wait till new one comes out, because i'm dying to replace it.

That's funny. I still have mine. And my hubby has the 1st gen.
They were both perfect out of the box!

I had to replace my 3g the day I bought it. The microphone was dead on arrival. However, I've had the replacement since the day I bought the phone.

However, this is my 4th iphone. First one was stolen, the second iphone's screen cracked which I replaced with the 3G. The 3G's mic was DOA so now I have my current 3G.
