3 of the 4 iPhones are still day-1 purchases. 2 3G's bought on launch day (16GB white) and 1 2G bought on launch day (8GB). The other 8GB 2G is a replacement. The original blew up in an Apple Store when I plugged it into a sound dock :D The manager replaced it on the spot, then put his phone into the same sound dock and blew up his phone, lol.

HAHA o well. What sound dock was that? I'll make sure i dont try one.

Ive had mine since day one in the UK, iPhone 2G. Has a massive crack on the top right of the screen, had to buy a clear plastic cover thing to make sure that the glass doesnt fall out (some had when it broke). Back of it has a dent on the top right, and a few scratchs.

Anyone want to buy it? £120 jailbroken;)

A big THANK YOU to all who are still happy with their original 'phones! :D

My contract expired in March and I had decided to get an iPhone when OS 3.0 is available later in the year. I'm waiting because I need MMS (to receive the regular supply of pics of Daughter's latest addition to her family!).

However, reading all the tales of gloom regarding both the iPhone and Apple's after-sales service, I've been having serious doubts. I have always considered Apple's products to be particularly well engineered and produced and therefore have had difficulty in believing the validity of some of these so-called "complaints". From the tone of a proportion, to me, it is apparent that some people either give their 'phones a hard time, will never be satisfied with anything, have a misguided sense of "fair wear and tear" or just think it's clever to complain! There again, I'm probably wrong - there are obviously a few rotten eggs in Apple's basket!

Anyhow, thanks again to those of you for rebuilding my confidence in the prospect of my future purchase!! :D

I'm so glad I started this thread and thank you all for your responses. Like the user above, I started to get convinced that iPhones were all bad...and I own a 3G myself!

Remember though not to take it for granted. Be grateful. You never know when a dead pixel, crack, or explosion may occur!

I still have my original iPhone purchased online 6/30/2007. I've also had a stuck red pixel on the very edge of the screen, but never got around to complaining about it.

The thing you have to remember is that people don't generally post to say that everything is fine unless they are asked. As such, the majority of people with working iPhones probably won't be posting on an iPhone discussion forum.

Still got mine from the day i won it at work last september 27th.....this has got to be the longest streak ive had with one cell phone.. :D

Still on my launch 3G, perfect nick.......but the speaker phone is not working during calls so it's back to the shop soon :(

Had my 4gb since Dec. '07; my launch day model was swapped due to the display failing. The current one is going strong, though!

Bought my 3g the first day it came out, and I've replaced it since. My screen started developing rainbow colors.

My friend's 3g was recently replaced as well. The vibration mechanism broke.

I got my original iPhone about two months before they started selling the 3G, and I've had it ever since and plan to have it until it dies on me.

Bought my iPhone 3G two hours after it was released here. Still have it, still working great (in fact, posting this comment from the iPhone). No problems to report here, other than it has a few surface scratches on the back and on the faux chrome. But that's mainly due to the crappy case I was using before.

Now I'm using the iSkin Revo 2 with that expensive $40 InvisibleShield film on both the front and back.

:D:apple::D I have the original 8gb 2g from Oct. 2007. it's working like the day I got it. I can't wait until the 32 or 64 gb comes out in June/July.

i tried i tried sooo hard to keep mine, but my GPS on google maps constantly showed i was about 10 miles away from where i actually was... so freakin annoying when i was in a rush to find someplace!!

Still have my trusted 1st Gen iPhone with me. Pretty soon (Septemeber 19th) I'll be singing to it for its 2nd year with me:rolleyes::eek:

I think I'll wait exactly to that date to buy the next gen iPhone.

I have my original iPhone and my original 3G iPhone.

I must be amazingly lucky as some muttonheads seemingly have returned their phones 5,6,10,20 times.
