I've had mine about 7 months. It has cracks on the housing but I'm 300 miles from the nearest Apple store so I've decided to just deal with it. Other than that it's been working fine.

I've had my 3G since the day it came out, and it's flawless. No cracks, dead pixels, dust under screen, light leaks, etc.

I had three first generations that I sold on eBay and two white 3G that I sold on eBay as well. Now I have the same black 3G that I bought in December. Nothing wrong with it.

From what i have noticed

The amount of people who have OCD/OCPD in this forum is substantially higher than the average population

Members on this forum have gone in and raised hell to replaced their perfectly working iPhone because it has "a little bit of dust" under the screen.

It just boggles the mind how someone could live with that kind of mindset 24/7

That said

I am glad there are normal people in this thread and this forum :D

I only had so many iPhones not because something was wrong with them but because I had a few of them active at the same time. When I didn't need them anymore, I sold them. I still wish I would have kept one of the 1st generation 16GB though. Out of all those phones, all of them were perfect.

Well I don't but someone does. It is still being used and in great condition...well, internally...

Wow wish I was as lucky as some of you guys. When I brought 1st Gen never had a problem. Well then I upgraded. 1st one got stolen (hope that person has nothing but bad luck ) Second one DIED, got this really strange error message, Apple Care had to send me another one, then, yes there's more, my silent key broke would have kept it , but could not even turn it on from the settings menu. :( With that all said and done my hubby as one and NO PROBLEMS, and he really didn't even want the phone in the first place. :D

I'm my 2G iPhone's second owner. I think it got bought right when they arrived in the UK and I bought it from the guy in January (for £100 :D )

It's perfect. I'm a poor student who could never afford to replace it so it lives in an incase slider and screen protector to keep it looking as good as possible. (I'm a klutz so it needs the protection) With any luck I'll get a good few years out of it.

I never quite got the mentality of people who had them replaced for a couple of bits of dust under the screen/squint glass or something. Too much bother . . .

I had my original one (bought it in August) until last week. I had something rattling inside of it, and it would sporadically lock the screen, show the slide to power off slider, or turn the volume all the way up. I also had some dust under the screen, but that wasn't a huge problem. If it wasn't for the recent rattling problem, I would have kept it.

Purchased a 2.5G 8GBer on June 29, 2007, still have the same phone today. It has been flawless until a couple weeks back when the speaker went out. Holding off replacing it until the next version this summer.

Some you guys need to be careful...u might wake up in the morning, slide your finger, and there lies a little red dot...

Dont tempt fate...

Heh, I just got mine replaced for the first time yesterday because it was vibrating on its own, volume was going up and down randomly and recently the sleep/wake button was going off on its own. It wasn't bothering me much until the sleep/wake button was doing its own thing and I couldn't access the phone and had 100s of pictures of the home screen.

The refurb one is good so far.

The genius kept on looking to see if there was any water damage.

Well

I had my original since July 07 until Feb 09 when I got robbed shopping at target. My original was so perfect never had a problem. AT&T guy was like look on the bright side u get a new shiny 3G, and I'm like yeah that now cost more money,I can't stand thieves!

It just seems like the fashion is to get a replacement from the Apple store and that all the cool kids are doing it.

I can just see some you like "My iPhone doesn't taste right when I lick it." *hops into car and races down to Apple store*

Nope, on my 4th iPhone.

1st: Launch day 2007, first one out of an AT&T store in lower Manhattan
2nd: Replacement free from Apple when I broke my screen on 1st.
3rd: Purchased 16GB 3 weeks after 2nd when someone stole it from me.
4th: Sold 16GB iPhone for $500 and bought a 16 GB iPhone 3G I currently have. :)

Yep I still have my first iPhone (EDGE) from launch day 2007 and my first iPhone 3G from launch day 2008. :)

Yup, still got mine, had my 2G since launch, then the 3G, never replaced either. Alot of people just bitch and moan about tiny imperfections. If I was anal enough to take a magnifying glass to my iPhone, I'm sure I'd find problems, but I love it!
