Never ever has any case touched any of my iPhones - IMO they‘re meant to be used like Apple has designed them.

I have cases but prefer not to use them. Have a leather sleeve which I also haven’t been using. The gold 11 Pro is such a nice looking phone and I enjoying using it without a case. Not a scratch on the frame or phone. I do use a screen protector though. When I’m out and about I just put it in the phone slot in my purse.

Don't forget absent-minded klutzes.

...and sleep-deprived parents. My kids are 7 and 9 now, but when they were infants and toddlers I was so much more likely to drop anything and everything that wasn't one of my kids. You literally juggle stuff because you frequently have a baby or a toddler on your hip. Your mantra becomes, "If I have to drop something, make sure it's not the fleshy one." Drop anything else you need to drop to hold onto the baby/kid. My wife and put our protective cases to the test. I still use a case, but not a screen protector. I used to use a more protective case and a screen protector. Now I just use an Apple leather case. I think it feels nicer to hold than the bare phone. Looks really nice as well.

Nope. Not me. I had it caseless for a day as I somehow picked up the iPhone 11 not 11 Pro Max case on Launch Day.

Someone I know went caseless. She made it a week before she dropped it. :(

Never used cases or screen protectors on any of my phones. They’re ugly as hell.

I’ve been using an iPhone since 07. Ive never used a case so why start now.

Sometimes with case sometimes without. Depends on my day. At work without a case. Phone is the most time on my desk.
During my free time often with a case (hiking etc). It makes me more comfortable to handle the iPhone. I use it always as remote control for my camera.

I always went ceaseless until I got the 6 Plus. With that, the 6S Plus, the 7Plus, the X, and the XS Max I used a case. Now with my 11 Pro Max, I am going naked. I didn’t start that way, but have gone naked for about two months now. I just can’t find a case that looks good. The Apple clear case is the best clear case I’ve tried, by far, but it’s still a fingerprint magnet. I’ve tried others too - they are all too bulky. I love going naked. I have Apple Care Pro or whatever it’s called.

Naked they handle like a wet bar of soap. My case ads grip and feels more comfortable than the phone alone

I just don’t understand people saying this. Sure if you don’t grip your phone, it’s going to slide right off the palm of your hand. But just the way one holds a phone prevents it from slipping at all. I find it less slippery without a case, actually.

Guts? More like stupidity ... sorry to be harsh.

This things are $1K and more these days.

It is a shame as the colors with the "naked" look are beautiful. These things are just too expensive not to however. My personal opinion.

They’re also too expensive to not have Apple Care Plus. That’s my case.

I have a hard time believing some of the replies that claim they have never used a case for the last 10+ years and never dropped their phone and damaged it. I'm one of the most careful people I know and I never use screen protectors and have never had a scratch, but even I occasionally (as in maybe twice a year) am sitting down and put my phone in my lap and forget it's there and stand up and it falls to the ground. Usually when I'm getting out of my car. I always have a minimal case (usually Apple's thin leather one) that has saved me each time.

I don't care how careful you are, everyone is going to eventually drop their phone. I guess if it's that important to you to use a naked phone, then I guess it's worth the money to get it repaired. Doesn't make any sense to me though.

I didn’t use a case with iPhone 1, 3, 3G, 4, 4S, 5 and 5S. I have dropped my phone several times. The only time it ever broke was when I was drunk on a brick patio with my iPhone 4 and it flew out of my hands. These things are a lot more durable than people think. I’m careful. I rarely walk while looking at my phone. I bet that’s when most of the damaging drops happen.

the 11 PM is my first phone with a case and screen protector from day 1 .. because i didn’t want to deal with the supposedly scratch gate. My XR before it, naked.. and people would cringe when i pulled it out of my pocket. never dropped it though.

Back when phones had flat sides, and flat screens where you could have a quality, undetectable film screen protector (PowerSupport crystal film), I had that screen protector but no case.

Then the 6 came along with its slippery curved sides and curved glass, necessitating 3D edge to edge tempered glass protectors. Inevitably, those protectors still have a noticeable edge compared to a flat film on a flat display, and with the slippery curved sides, I've been using cases and 3D protectors since the 6. Used to use clear polycarbonate cases (PowerSupport Air Jackets), but they got impossible to remove with the 6, and then their products just seemed to go downhill.

I'm pretty careful with my stuff, so I only need ultra thin scratch protection so I can lay the phone down on a hard surface - I currently use the Tozo matte white ultra thin (EXACT same case as the $30 PEEL cases - not very similar...EXACT (have had both)) and an iCarez 3D edge to edge protector on my Xs. The fitment of the iCarez is great, but it's a scratch magnet compared to other protectors I've used in the past, so I'll be looking for something else for my 12 Pro later this year.

Really debating ripping the protector and case off and just going naked and tossing it down on hard surfaces and scratching it and just enjoying the phone for what it is...though I am worried the screen protector will take the oleophobic coating with it if I were to remove it now after 12 months...?

No case with AppleCare is the way to go IMO. Cracked screen $29 and a full replacement $99.

I’d be smashing my phone every week if it didn’t have a case. Much cheaper buying a £15 case once than repeatedly claiming on Apples insurance and I bet there’s a limit to how many times you can claim too. iPhones are so slippery these days and almost feel like they are designed to be put in a case.

If you pay monthly, you actually get around the 2 claims issues because you can always add it to a your phone.

you still have pay £200 for it upfront plus a fee when you get a replacement...not smart financial decision really when a case will save you more often than not.

You can actually do month to month now, $9.99

What case do you use?

I don't know if that's as true as people often think. I theorize that the very act of having a case on a phone makes people more prone to drop it, toss it on things, etc, as some part of their brain knows the phone is safe, and so the diligence with which they treat it is mitigated to a certain extent.

Whereas, those of us that go case-less treat our phones differently because we don't use cases, and that different treatment/awareness makes us less likely to damage our phones unintentionally.

Possibly. My phone is often placed on the side in a factory, used outside when testing and exposed to the elements, dropped off my desk, used by my two children (3 and 6yrs)... So it gets quite a bashing. I wouldn’t want to be babying my phone though as I like to use it without worry. I’m not keen on the feel of iPhones without a case on personally as they seem so slippery, unergonomic, and fragile. I like that a case adds thickness and grip.
