It is beautiful without a case! But I am too anxious that I will drop it so I have the next best thing...an Apple leather case...still slim!

I bought a clear case (TORRAS from Amazon) and used it for one day before taking it off. It was too thick and ended up returning it. Been caseless since but I do have a screen protector on it.

Does anyone else think these phones are still too slim naked? I'd rock my Xs Max caseless if it wasn't that thin. I much more prefer having a case just for the sake of the grip.

I Actually saw somebody drop a naked iPhone Pro today. The back cracked the girl was in tears. While these new iphones are great technology they are not durable to go without a case

put a case and screen protector on and rest easy

Not worth the risk in my opinion. I have a nice case I’m happy with and it’s safer too. I have the lander case with the loop on the back. Also have a glass screen protector on it

Guts? More like stupidity ... sorry to be harsh.

This things are $1K and more these days.

It is a shame as the colors with the "naked" look are beautiful. These things are just too expensive not to however. My personal opinion.

No case on my iPhone 1, 3S, or 4. Just got a blue XR and I do use a clear case on it for both grip and protection. It has a clear back so you can still see the blue, which I like, and it's fairly minimal in bulk.
I think that if there was no camera bump though, I would be tempted to go without. I just can't stand setting the phone down without a case though on either the front or worse on the back where the camera is the point of contact.

You ask yourself do you pull out the last second, go raw all the time? Is the risk worth looking at the potential damage(s)? Some people take these risks and some people don’t. I love the feeling of bareback but I am not about to pay for the outcome either.

Vasectomy solves one of those problems.... haha

Good judgement is necessary here
The new iPhones are made of glass as well as stainless steel that can scratch
Do you really want to use it without A case????

It’s not about the guts, it all comes down on how you use your iPhone and what you plan to do with it afterwards. I usually resell mine or pass them on to my family members after a year or two. I also use my iPhone for in-car navigation a lot. So I put the case on its back (the current one is by Pela), adding a better grip to it. This way its resale/giving shape keeps better. ✌️

I don’t put a case on my 11 Pro. It does go into a soft pouch when I’m not using it and I never set it down on a hard surface. 0 scratches. I’m incredibly careful with my phone.

Not venting just an observation, I wonder whenever they are testing these new iPhone materials such as glass back or the new matte glass back on the 11 Pro do they even realize just how slippery they are? I cant imagine during the test where the person would say wow this has great grip lol.

To counterpoint I can comfortably hold a Galaxy S10+ 5G which has 6.7" screen without a case because the material has some grip to it though it does feel a little bit cheaper/plasticky than the 11 Pro materials.

I dislike that the back is in glass just because of the fact that it can crack (pretty darn scratch resistant, though). Any shock-absorbing case worth having will unfortunately add notable bulk and the phone is big enough already.

I've been caseless since late november and no scratches have surfaced on either glass nor steel. I'm planning on getting another ultrathin case, knowing its limitations, but Amazon screwed up the shipping so it's taken a while.

I've rolled with screen protector for most of its life though. The amount of microscratches added up on my 6S until it looked quite nasty in the wrong light. Rather not have a repeat.

Original iPhone through iPhone 5s - no case.
iPhone 6 through XS Max - case
iPhone 11 Pro Max - no case
Yup that’s me. The 6 plus was the first phone I had the I needed a case. The small phone factors were great for no cases. Never needed one till the fablets came out.
When I had the xr I did get a clear skin on it and used that. No case otherwise.

The iPhone 11 Pro is more slippery than a fish... even more so than my iPhone X! It’s like Teflon on the back. It’s not really much of a problem while holding the phone (but that might depend on gloves or how dry or wet your hands are). Where I notice it is if you set the phone down on any kind of surface with the slightest incline, it will slide. I can’t recommend the Apple leather case highly enough. It’s grippy in the hand and on a flat surface. The leather feels warm and nice and doesn’t add any significant bulk to the phone. Best of all... it allows you to set your phone down on a desk or countertop softly and quietly.

100% no. So easy to drop out of a pocket or slip out of the hand and it’s hundreds for a repair. Also all the scratching from putting it on desks and tables etc.

The last iPhone I used without a case was the iPhone 5 because it had a design which you could actually grip properly.

Since then, I have had an iPhone 6, iPhone 7, iPhone 8 Plus and now on the iPhone XS (skipped the 11 upgrades) - all used with cases purely because I just can't grip the barenaked curved designs very well + I also hate the greasy fingerprints that are left all over the glass backs which make the phones look disgusting....

When I begin the 3rd year of using a particular iPhone, I take it out of the case and use it as it was intended. Since most people use cases, people notice and commented on it. I started that with my iPhone X in July and made until this weekend before I dropped it and it broke the back glass. I got an Apple Care replacement and now that I essentially have a shiny new iPhone again, I've put it back in its case until the 12 in September.
