iPod Touch order delays
I ordered my 8GB iPod Touch 2 weeks ago and it was supposed to ship yesterday, the 28th. As of this morning it hasn't. Just got off the phone with Apple and they said there are delays b/c of Typhoon Wipha that hit China. They cant cancel orders but have set me up for return when it does ship. I managed to pick one up at my local mac dealer this morning.

When mine was in alaska I got mine the next day in dayton, but I dont think that Fed-Ex delievers on Saturday I could be wrong though
When I track my order at tnt.com, it still doest display anything. It does find the order however, which it didnt yesterday. How long did it take for other people who had TNT as a carrier before the trackingstatus was updated after getting an email from apple saying your order shipped?

well I ordered mine a week or two ago, and it is still stuck in Prepared for shipping, and the guy last night told me it was because of Whipa, which I know anyways, but I am gunna call again today and ask for compensation, It is engraved so I can't cancel it and I can't return it or sell it, so cant go adn buy another.

MY IPOD TOUCH FINALLY SHIPPED, THE EXACT SECOND I PICKED UP THE PHONE TO CALL APPLE, "BEEP", MY EMAIL SHOWED UP, AND IT IS A MIRACLE. IT JUST WAS RECEIVED WITH MY NUMBER FOR TRACKING ABOUT 1 MINUTE AGO. THIS MEANS THAT ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE YOUR SHIPMENTS DELAYED, FRET NO LONGER, THEY ARE COMING!!!!! I am just so happy, I should receive mine on Wednesday, if that is correct, I havent checked my status yet, but thats when it should be here. Whipa is dissapating, and FedEx has begun normal shipping again. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a happy day.
I ordered my 16GB Touch engraved the day of launch. It finally showed Prepared to Ship on the 26th and Shipped on the 28th as advertised. I had hoped to get it earlier, but hey I accepted the website saying 28th from the beginning and was prepared to wait. I checked the FedEx site to track it today and it says it's coming from China and will arrive in 10 Days! I was like WTF? I called Apple and they gave me the same story of the Asian Typhoon but I complained to the Supervisor that they did not honor my expedited shipping. So they came back and said for the inconvenience they're giving me $50 off my order. I'll accept that for sure. I don't mind it taking a few extra days, although I would like it earlier. There may even be a chance of it arriving by the 2nd. I had already gotten a corporate discount rate on top of that because of the company I work for so in the end I would have saved $90 off the advertised price. My advice to anyone who paid for the expedited shipping and gets it delayed (or at least appears like FedEx can't deliver by 2-3 days) call Apple and get the $50 discount they are handing out. Better in your pocket than theirs! All the best to everyone out there!

This is all I have so far. i am assuming later today I will receive more info about the package being picked up at Kunshan, and on its way to Beijing. Apple says it should arrive by next Wed., I was correct, and I am assuming that this is in local time in China, but that would mean this was given to them at 3:00 yesterday afternoon, but o well, time is weird. I am just glad it is on its way, and plus I get my InvisibleSHIELD today in the mail, so I should be all set to go by next Wed. i will continue to post new info on my shipment, so you cna see where yours might go as well. bezdaniel. you should get yours soon too, we ordered around the same time, so, yea!

I know I should have called. But, o well, idc, one day isnt gunna make that much of a difference, plus mine already shipped. What did you say to them to get express? Just wondering, but all the same you should get yours soon immemorial! Great chatting with you bout it, its rele weird all this stuff Apple is doin, same with the FedEx thing cus of Whipa.

Actually, I didn't even say anything. I just asked when it would ship out since it hasn't yet and the CSR told me that it would likely still be there by the 5th, but that she would refund me the Express fee.
Edit: Awesome, it just shipped out!

lucky. lol. maybe I will call to check the status, and then see if they will give me something cus it wasnt shipped on the advertised day, that might work, althoughit should arrive in the Oct. 2-4 slot it said it would. idk. But I am just happy mine is coming, I don't know how mine is shipping before everyone who ordered day of the keynote, but, I am sry, I am happy mine is coming, and idc if it isnt gunna be here one day earlier, cus if I got express, it would be here on mon-tues. but still, u r lucky. cept I got free shipping, 3-5 day, so they really cant refund me anythingcept tht $50 dollar thing like that one guy got,. but o well

THE 4TH! By the time it gets to North America its gonna be the 9th they say. At least that's what my estimated time is. Apple better start honoring the $50 rebate deals to anyone who complains!!! I sure as hell did! Did they not take this into consideration? I mean China didn't just drop an instant holiday on the world, it's probably been a holiday for 2000 years! So if they say they are gonna ship it by the start of their holiday from China they can't be selling us the expedited shipping and saying we'll get it in 2-3 days! Go get some $$$ back everyone!

Dude, COOL! We are getting ours on teh same shipment, that rocks! But I dont see how it would be express, enless once it gets to the us they fly it from the hub, rather than drive it. But still, we have to see if our order statuses are the same!

btw immemorial, what is the first couple of digits in ur tracking #, and what does it say on FedEx.com and jer, I don't know wht that FedEx guy is tellin u, but me and immemorial's shipments are goin out, I just think he didn't want to tell you the truth, that your shipment ist going out yet. Anyways, i would talk to Apple first, to see what is up with your order, they gave me more info that FedEx did.

Guys, I just called FedEx and this is what they told me. Apparently China is in a holiday season right now and anything that has not left China yet is not gonna leave until Oct 4th! Yup that's right! THE 4TH! By the time it gets to North America its gonna be the 9th they say. At least that's what my estimated time is. Apple better start honoring the $50 rebate deals to anyone who complains!!! I sure as hell did! Did they not take this into consideration? I mean China didn't just drop an instant holiday on the world, it's probably been a holiday for 2000 years! So if they say they are gonna ship it by the start of their holiday from China they can't be selling us the expedited shipping and saying we'll get it in 2-3 days!

DUDE SAME SHIPMENT!!! SAME # AND EVERYTHING! Most of the time it takes about 25 minutes to scan all fo the boxes in an order. My box has been sitting on the palet for about 2 days, so it was pretty early, and they scanned it prolly b4 urs. So our touches will be sitting side by side on a plan over the atlantic, which is cool, and yea, it just takes a few to get everything into the system, but it should be in there soon. Apple did mess things up, some peeps who ordered on release(keynote, I mean) are getting them, some are delayed until Oct. 5th. Others who ordered a week or two ago, like me, are either just receiving them, in transit, getting info just now on the tracking #(like me) or are stuck in Prepared for shipment. So Apple screwed up major with this, sending later orders out earlier and stuff. But immemorial, this is so cool!

Yeah, that sounds about right. Something like this happened b4 when i ordered something made in Beijing, and it was a holiday, but it wasn't delayed, but it squeaked through the time lapse between normal arrangements, and rest periods. As well as I actually called the sorting facility about 20 mintes after holiday started, and there was one english person there. I got him to get a package through for me to the airport and on its way to the U.S. I was so happy, he actually did it himself to, he brought it to FedEx in Beijing, and put it on the plane. He said it was funny because he was just locking up the facility for the holiday, he turned out to be a REP from the U.S. that was supposed to ensure the facility was up to par.
