It'd be nice.

But you do realize that you don't need push in order to use AIM, right? They'd treat it like Safari. When you exit, you log off.

Yeah, I'd prolly put money on it being like that but it was real AIM....

Wow!!!

This **** Is Amazing!!! Its going to take me quite some time to look through them all...and download the 125 free ones!

Come on Google!!

I am hoping Google has an app or two out in the Store. Like a REAL Gtalk client, not that crappy web interface.

:crossingfingers:

Looks like I need to use the morning to find a good wifi spot near work...and now I know how I'm spending my lunch break!

I'm giddy

yes. This sounds very cool.

Whats the largest software/title launch for a new platform? This has to be up there.

I sure hope Apple's servers are ready. There is going to be a MASSIVE onslaught. Much of it by me!!

Seems kinda low to me. There were 4000 developers (myself included).

I'm worried that they won't release all the titles that were submitted before the deadline last week.

500 apps is a pretty good number to get out of 4000 developers in 4 months or so. Remember that some of the 4,000 are either new developers without enough experience to put out an app, developers who were accepted later into the program and didn't have enough time to finish, or developers who are part of a team of multiple developers who were all accepted and only put out 1 app.

Pandora is going to be ***** awesome for me. I HATE broadcast radio stations now. I've been looking forward to just plugging my phone into my car stereo for years.

I may as well take Friday off. I'm not going to get any work done.

Thank you :apple:

500 apps! That's pretty impressive.

When OS X launched back in 2001 there were few, if any, 3rd party apps available I recall. Now, with a platform just a year old, at least 500 have been submitted. Just goes to show how Apple and its products have been raised in our awareness these last few years.

lol wow.. so 1/3 its games... i wonder how many would be free lol..
i also hope apple has the app where you can pinch warp peoples faces in pics.. just like they showed in april 9...

i hope the sega game, with the plane will be free ... it looks cool...

better yet, hope theres a video app

This is likely the biggest news story of the year—that is, that Apple is launching the App Store. I think it's pretty clear by now that the iPhone 3G was simply an updated iPhone 1.0.

The app store will immediately make this into more than a phone; it's going to be a mobile computer. Finally I and many others will be able to leave our laptops behind on short trips and such, and still remain perfectly productive. Some of the apps will be so revolutionary in what they will allow us to do that I think within 5 years from now, people will wonder how they lived without all these things in their pockets!

I'm currently working on an iPhone App of my own, but I wouldn't have the foggiest about making an app for any other phone on the market—not even the fabled 'instinct'. The App store is a more important feature than 'copy and paste,' than 3G, than GPS, than a touch screen, etc.

The fact that people and companies will be able to publish iPhone apps on a dime will make this thing revolutionary!

Free is good, Im just curious what happens when you fill up all 9 pages on your IPod...

KABOOM!! (?)
