Apple has the best leaks these days. No espionage necessary.
Except it’s not really a leak, but the a rather intentional reveal.maybe to take off the pressure from launch event? who knows but it’s been the case since iPhone 6 launch in this exact timeframe.

My guess is that it's data gathered from the same weather service it’s getting temps from.

Which is what I'd prefer anyway. That way, you can see the UVI before you leave the house, rather than having to go outside and let the watch calculate it for you.
That would not be very reliable and actually worthless. With my Microsoft band, my UV exposure changed if there was a cloud overhead, shade from a tree, or if I walked indoors. Generic data from a weather service would really dumb down that feature.

Sorry, what I meant was that Apple keeps churning out yearly updates. Regardless of that, there are individuals who are upgrading at intervals similar to their smartphone cycles.
Ah makes much more sense, totally agree with you.

So beautiful... take my money!

What is that UVI thing on the watch face?? A new sensor detecting the UV?

Would almost guarantee this is just a part of the weather App that also provides UV index in most regions. However, if they could track exposure that would be epic.

I like that Apple isn't being complacent with the Apple Watch (unlike Mac mini...). You can count on consistent upgrades to the OS and hardware which from a consumer standpoint is great. One thing that bugs me about other wearables is that sense of consistency...I mean I don't think Google even mentioned WearOS during their last yearly meeting, right?

I gotta say, I'm WAY more excited about watch releases these days than phone releases. The image looks good. I'm curious about the features. There would have to be something pretty awesome in the mix to upgrade from a Series 3 though.

I do not understand people wanting round watches. They made sense for... analog watches that are inherently round. It's ridiculous for a smart watch.

My favorite part is that the red dot has been reduced to a thin red circle! Wish they could get rid of it entirely, but this is much better than leaving it the way that it was.

That watch face is way too cluttered. I mean, it’s kinda nice to have an option for an information dense display, and it makes sense if the new display face is bigger that they could pack more in. But things that look like this are supposedly the reason that Apple hasn’t allowed third party developers to design custom watch faces—it makes the watch look bad. That being said, they did about the best job you could possibly do when it comes to fitting that many complications on the display at once. I didn't even notice the calendar event text until I had looked at it for full minute.

I thought it was interesting that the original story on 9to5Mac didn't say anything about the rose gold stainless steel enclosure.
I agree with both your first 2 paragraphs. I don’t own an Apple Watch yet. Each gen, I am more inclined. The red dot kept me from pulling the trigger this time. Garish. And yeah, that’s too busy a watch face. Cluttered. And I love how everything is so circular, so they feel like the need to put things on the corners, just to preempt anybody wondering if square was really the way to go. Personally, I have my doubts.

You can still have a pretty Spartan Face if you’d like?

iOS, I don’t mean Face ID.

No doubt! That is much better. Whoever designed the previous one should have their industrial designer license revoked, heh (or at least have their taste license revoked).

And maybe even thinner, which means lighter, which both are fine by me!

Well, Apple always photographs at angles that hide it. This is like the one product that seriously needs some slimming. The problem is that I think they will loose too much battery if they make it much smaller. I can see it now, "Now, 1mm thinner!"

This is the first time I’ve said this about an Apple product in years and years, but I hope the Apple Watch is thinner.

Microsoft makes a watch?

I flip between 3 watch faces for a total of 10 complications that I use regularly.
Whuh. I'd fill ONE watch face with my most often used/important widgets, then stick the other ones in the dock - which is exactly what I've done with my watch. :p Repeatedly flipping between faces would make me go buggo, honestly.

Personally I would be super happy to see at least one of the changing faces side-swipes replaced with fly-out music player side panel instead.

And yeah, that’s too busy a watch face. Cluttered.
So pick a different face then. It's not as if it's a bad thing there's more choice now.

Personally I always disliked that the maximum number of widgets you could get was 4 tops on most faces, and typically even less. Exercise rings face has just 3 user-defineable widgets. Getting up to 9 is a huge step up.

Apple is undoubtedly aware that their approach up until now has been conservative to say the least, and thus deliberately show off this particular face to let widget-loving people know there's now at least one option for them too.

Is that enough to get people to upgrade, from a series 3, however?

Yes it is just displaying the UV Index figure. This can be found on almost any weather website.

Complaints around how busy the new face is are a bit ridiculous, as with every watch face you can leave spots blank, if you like. Problem solved!.

I do think we’re getting to a point with the Apple Watch were you can expect it to give you a solid 3 years. I’ve put off buying an Apple Watch for so long and since I bought the series 3 a few weeks ago I simply love it! It complements the phone perfectly. Personally, not sure I’d let it go long than 2 years for health sensor updates.

I also much perfer this design to a round face. Pretty sure my Series 3 is going back to Best Buy on day 30 so I can buy the Series 4.

That looks awesome. I did not plan on upgrading but that is tempting.

I hope it's a lot faster than Series 3. The Nike+ running app is so slooowwww....
That’s just the Nike app. It’s terrible. So many runs lost as it crashes.

With all that (useless) data and graphics (82F, red, is warmer than 52F, blue. Get it?), Apple seems to be trying to make a basically feminine watch look macho, except in the photo one can't even tell WHAT TIME IT IS.

It's 'T minutes after M' apparently.
