The face is the same size, but the bezels are smaller, i.e. there’s less dead space between the active screen area and the metal case.
Are you sure about that? I held my existing Series 3 up to the image at the same angle and it looks very similar. I'm not seeing a smaller bezel in that image, at least not anything to get excited about.

If the crown and the button are the same scale as the S3 this should be quite a bit thinner. I'll pick one up instantly if so.

This reporting is so vague here and on 9to5mac. Where did this info come from, exactly? And how did they get it?

If true, iPhone XS is a ****ing heinous name.

So this gold ring image is supposed to represent the new digital crown for Gold watch?

The cricle was the place the Steve Job Theater.
The gold was the color for new iPhone and Watch.

Apple is suffering from a major leak that has allowed 9to5Mac to discover images of the upcoming "iPhone XS" models and the Apple Watch Series 4, giving us an idea of what to expect when the new devices are announced on September 12.

As can be seen in the photo below, the new Apple Watch models feature smaller bezels for more visible screen space, which allows for new complications arranged in a round configuration, which could be a nod to the media invites that went out earlier today.

Rumors have suggested the displays of the new Apple Watch models are 15 percent larger, which appears to be in line with the video.

Apple is clearly planning to introduce at least one new watch face, which appears to be able to support a total of eight complications. Four complications are included on the watch face itself, underneath the hands, while another four are located at the edges of the display.

Interestingly, the Apple Watch in the image features a shiny gold enclosure, which appears to be shinier than previous aluminum models, perhaps suggesting a stainless steel option with a gold finish. It could also be shiner in the Apple marketing materials, though.

There's a new hole below the Digital Crown, which is perhaps another microphone, and the Digital Crown has a red outline rather than a full red dot.

Apple will unveil the Apple Watch Series 4 models alongside new 2018 iPhones on September 12, at a 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time event that's set to be held at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus. Apple will live stream the event, but for those who cannot watch, MacRumors will be featuring live coverage both on the site and on our MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

The day that a leak like this comes out and no one cares is the day that Apple is truly doomed.

Glad they got rid of that hideous red zit, the outline looks so much better.

Two questions: a. what if anything can it do that the current model can't? b. how much longer battery life? If I like either of these answers I'll buy. If not, not.

Depending on whether you have the 38mm or the 42mm, it can make a difference. Maybe not one you are excited about though. The screen on the new 38mm will be larger than the screen on the current 42.

Here’s a mock-up from phonearena.com:

I this a leak or not? If it's a leak it's big news.

So strange though. Everyone seems to be assuming it's not a leak because it's so egregious.

The overloaded face shown in the photo is truly hideous, I hope Apple only made it to showcase all the complication possibilities of the larger screen and doesn't really expect them to be used at once. But some nice new faces would be welcome. Maybe a rectangular traditional face to match the rectangular case.

Another way to deal with this is to also have UV sensors on airpods.
Well, long hair hanging down, hoodies, broad-brimmed hats... Fusing sensor data is no good if the sensor data coming in is bogus. :)

I'd had hoped that with Ive's obsession with 70s watches, we'd had had room for a more square circle look (and a cushion!) on the watch.
Cushion, do you mean like, a bulging display? Apart from being a potential scratch magnet, I'm thinking it might make touch sensing more difficult. Also, a bulging sapphire display cover glass grinding and polishing would probably also be a lot more time consuming (which means even pricier stainless and ceramic models.)

Holy crap. That watch face is busier than most of my chronographs.

Understanding that it's just drawing attention to 1. new size of screen and 2. the amount of data packing that possible (not required), hopefully it portends 3rd party watch faces. If Apple can overstuff the screen then it shouldn't be that big of a deal for 3rd parties to do so.
I flip between 3 watch faces for a total of 10 complications that I use regularly.

Well I currently use the modular display so this looks great to me.
