Just bring me an updated iPad mini and I'll shell out for that and go home happy. :)

There was a time I thought about an Apple watch but the closer it gets to looking like something out of a sci fi movie... not gonna name the decade... the more I figure I'll wait until the pendulum goes back towards your basic Timex watch face and the option to have it just tell me the time of day in a display style of my choosing. Sort of like the 6th gen pod nano. :p

I think we may still see a round watch ... Hence the “round” in the event name. In the “leaked” images of the watch, you can easily see how the onscreen layout could be used on round face... Like attached, and the leak purpose to keep people off the trail so to speak.

I think this is wishful thinking. No leaks of new casing and no rumors of it really suggest to me all we see is the larger screen in the same form. We'll know in a couple weeks.

There’s no way Apple is releasing a new Watch that makes the current bands obsolete. I suppose it’s possible they release a new rounded rec and round watch but it doesn’t seem likely to me as you couldn’t really use the same UI for both.

I would not be surprised to see Series 4 exclusive faces designed to take advantage of the new screen size and rounded corners. Frustrating - yeah I suppose - but technology advances and I would expect that this display on the current get watch would look really cramped and even more cluttered than it already does.
My guess is there will be certain non-hardware things exclusive to the new Watch and people will complain and some dev will find a way to get the new thing on an old Watch and stick it all over social media claiming it’s possible but Apple’s not allowing it to force upgrades or whatever.

I agree, I wouldn’t expect to see a round watch added to the lineup this soon. That said, the increase in display area to virtually edge to edge, makes a transition to a round watch very easy, whereas one with such thick bezels as the current model has, wouldn’t really work.

It would be very easy to use existing apps in a rectangle within the circle without sacrificing much, and developers could either choose to support it natively or not. In fact, with the larger display area, current apps are likely to be scaled up to work with the new display, and developers will have to choose whether to rework their apps to take advantage of the native resolution, just like they did with the iPad. Chances are many will, just as they will with the round UI. In the meantime, customers will still be able to use their old apps with a new round display, just as they will with the larger display.

Except Apple Watch has plenty of round layouts already, so that's not really significant.

That being said, I strongly prefer round and remain hopeful that we will see that option some day.

This does look like plated stainless steel, almost certainly... unless they have a new polished aluminum material a la iPhone 7 jet black. This colour doesn't look like regular (yellow) gold to me, it looks similar to real rose gold (until now, Apple made up their own versions of rose gold).

The colour looks a lot more like Rolex Everose Gold now

Ah ok. Anyway this photo/render doesn’t look like aluminum to me so perhaps they’re adding a stainless steel option that is more rose gold colored? Still not sure how they’d do it as I can’t see them doing gold plated anything.

When I look at the leaked watch, I am thinking it's time for Kindergarten.

I am amazed that Apple decided that for something, which is supposed to be stylish - if not a fashion statement - get more colors than the whole of macOS, a productivity tool...

I'll have to disagree on it being too much noise. Sure it is a bit busy, but I think it looks great. I also like that it has just about everything I want to be able to check at a moments notice on once screen. I wouldn't be surprised if you can modify it similar to the current Modular watch face allowing you to turn off pieces of it, that would make people like you and me both happy.

Having looked at it more since I made
my comment I have come to like it. Still looks kinda messy but after reading the replies to my comment about how you only notice the information you want to pay attention to at a glance I now understand. Haven’t used an Apple Watch before but it makes more sense to me now. They also pointed out how you can hide the info you don’t want there and only display the info that you do.

So it's 99% the same as the last one , with the most cluster **** of a display ive ever seen.. pls explain what's tempting you to upgrade....
Larger display and faster. We don't know yet if it is thinner. I always buy the cheapest option (Nike) and upgrade every year. Usually spend $100 to $130 upgrading after selling my older version. This keeps me always on AppleCare just in case since I use everyday for swimming. Not a bad deal.

And then you have Watch faces such as modular and Siri which continue to make sense only on a square watch face.

Looks like a square face remains the most versatile, as it is capable of accommodating both. I just don’t see Apple releasing a round watch, but who knows. Samsung does it partly because their rotating watch dial has clearly Iocked them into a round form factor. Apple faces no such limitation.

This watch face will be dumb if there’s no Siri intelligence ie a Siri complication that shows whatever the top card would be on the Siri watch face. We need that complication option across watch faces!

Unfortunately even with these leaks we cannot tell if the bezel is completely gone or still 10% remaining. We need to see a leak of an app screenshot. Is the screen now metal to metal? 100% unlikely since even the best phones in the world phones still have a pronounced bezel.

e.g. take a look here.

The bezel of the app title "workout" plus the time. If the new screen no longer has the black status bar that's a good start.

Nope. You sleep with your watch, tracking sleep, then put it on charge for an hour in the mornings while getting ready for work.
[doublepost=1535685571][/doublepost]That's the Explorer face exclusive to series 3 LTE if that's what you're asking.
Yeah, not hard to use it for sleep tracking it you slightly modify your charging habits to get it on the charger for like a half hour during the day.

So beautiful... take my money!

What is that UVI thing on the watch face?? A new sensor detecting the UV?

I highly doubt Apple will implement an UV-sensor when it's super easy for them to retrieve UV and weather information through regular weather websites...
[doublepost=1535790302][/doublepost]I hope the new non-LTE will miss the red circle around the crown. It's ruins the whole watch.

Interesting idea.

The design of the leaked face is nuts. Why jam everything into a circular layout but ignore the corners of the square hardware? Mad, yeah?

But it makes sense for getting as much info as possible in a modular face for round hardware. Most people I see use the modular face on their Apple watches. I do too. It’s the most practical.

That explains the mysterious gold circle on the invite: A round watch. A lot of people have been asking for one.

Apple didn’t ignore the corners of the rectangular layout. The leaked face isn’t round. There are complications in all four corners.

If this face were set inside a round watch, it would be pretty small—unless the face were quite a bit larger than the current rectangle.

The post you replied to had a photoshopped version of the face to make it look circular. Now imagine how much smaller that image would have to be if the four complications in the corners of the real face had to fit.
