The current gold isn’t rose gold.I wonder if Apple is brining whatever gold they’re adding to the iPhone X to the Apple Watch. It looks different than the current rose gold aluminum Watch. Maybe it’s just the CGI but I’m skeptical.

That would not be very reliable and actually worthless. With my Microsoft band, my UV exposure changed if there was a cloud overhead, shade from a tree, or if I walked indoors. Generic data from a weather service would really dumb down that feature.
Haha...amazing Microsoft can make such brilliant software but their hardware just flat out doesn’t sell. They did. It was released back in October 2014 and it was called Microsoft Band. Microsoft Band 2 was released a year later but was shut down shortly after launch.
These images convey pretty good why I'll probably never purchase one of these:I wonder if Apple is brining whatever gold they’re adding to the iPhone X to the Apple Watch. It looks different than the current rose gold aluminum Watch. Maybe it’s just the CGI but I’m skeptical.

Thanks for that. That looks really good, but it does not look like the screen in the leaked image. I can’t see any reason they wouldn’t put the watch face to fill as much of the usable screen area as possible, especially as the larger screen size will be a major selling point. But that picture clearly had a watch face no where near as large as the red box you showed, even accounting for curved corners. Time will tell though I guess. If you believe the leaked screen measurement, the red rectangle below represents the new screen. Except the display corners will have to be rounded since I don’t think it’s possible to run the screen to less than 0.5mm from the edge of the body.

It could be that the leaked screen dimension is not correct, but it’s Kuo who is usually good with dimensions. We'll know soon enough! Thanks for that. Perhaps this is a problem that will go away with time as newer devices are made available. Considering how many things are running on that one watch face, I really have to wonder if they've bumped the RAM on Series 4. Increased battery size and life (efficient chips) can also lead to more complicated faces that would otherwise drain the tiny battery in a few hours. If they provide an API where you can basically just skin the watch part and have a few zones for complications then that would be a good start. Then as older Apple Watches fall off in support for newer versions of watchOS they could keep adding things to the API to make it even more complex.Just as a point of clarity...
Apple's resistance to 3rd party faces probably has very little to do with how those faces would look and is instead related to how those watch faces would perform. In order for 3rd party devs to be able to develop watch faces Apple would need to give devs control of the watch face itself, this presents a problem for Apple because presumably a poorly designed watch face could lead to problems with performance, battery life, and stability.
That left face is really basic compared to what you can use on Apple Watch right now. It is nowhere near representative of how many complications are currently available. But I get where you're coming from. The bigger screen is going to be really nice. I wouldn't mind even having a physically larger device (like 4-6mm diagonally) to get an even better experience than what we're getting with this bezel reduction. And no, the Apple watch has never been square, but rectangular. And no, it will still have some slight bezels around the outside where it curves away. I think in the future they could push this even more if they remove the 2.5D glass and make it thinner. I doubt they will have the face itself flow off the sides of the glass like Samsung does with their phones. They don't tend to think that's a good solution, likely due to legibility. But I think the 2.5D glass does feel nicer.Left Dumb Watch | Right Smart Watch

I don’t care about fancy technology. Your job is to feed me information, and the left one doesn’t even show the weekday. This product category is now mildly useful and no longer a total waste of money. And the trick is a bigger screen, is it even square now? Anyhow the watch face is center stage without any bezels. Good!
If you could I’m sure you wouldGuess you can’t fix poor taste.
I mean the new one, Series 4. It looks as if it could be square now. If it’s still a rectangle, the ratio might have changed? And that’s how they manage to put so many complications inside a bigger watch circle. A circle fits better into a more squarish rectangle then into a narrow rectangle. And no, the Apple watch has never been square, but rectangular.
Agreed. For me I’d prefer a larger circle big enough to contain the current watch face so I don’t lose usable UI area for text, etc. But maybe it would be too big and weird. I just prefer circular watches in general.I mean the new one, Series 4. It looks as if it could be square now. If it’s still a rectangle, the ratio might have changed? Yes, bloody frustrating.I’m as big an Apple Watch fan as anybody but isn’t it frustrating that you may have to upgrade just to get a new watch face?? Or are you referring to the slimmer bezels?
That Watch face looks way too busy. What are you supposed to be glancing at? I wouldn’t even know what to look at there’s just too much noise there. At least make it look nice, I don’t understand anyone saying how it does. Just a cluster of information slapped on the front with no thought put behind it. Then again that’s what I’ve been saying to myself about all of Apples software descions as of late.
Looking back, series 0 was a mistake and a rip off really and not ready for public use.

What is it?
Ah ok. Anyway this photo/render doesn’t look like aluminum to me so perhaps they’re adding a stainless steel option that is more rose gold colored? Still not sure how they’d do it as I can’t see them doing gold plated anything.Well technically they call it just "gold" as there's no rose gold option in Series 3. The S3 gold is more brassy than the S2 rose gold and more coppery than the S2 gold so it's actually closer to a real rose gold (though with the matte aluminum finish). If you see it in person, the color really changes depending on the lighting and what bands you have it paired with. I'm not a huge fan as I like a yellower gold.
