Some of you can’t be serious. You think Apple’s car will look like a Hyundai? Since when does the design of Apple products get decided by the factory they’re built in?

You don’t think Apple can use Hyundai’s factories while still importing parts from other places?

Think for a second Lol.... Jeez.

People just don't get it. Hyundai is one of the best auto manufacturers in the world and Genesis is a luxury carmaker on par with Lexus (albeit less popular)

I’ve never spent more than $20K for any vehicle. I’m sure this will be priced at 3x or 4x that even before BTO options.

Apple generally avoids niche brands. You might say Apple itself is a niche brand but they don’t see themselves in that way. They would probably want the market share of a Tesla not BMW or Mercedes.
Well, they have a Hermès Apple Watch, not exactly mainstream, either.

I watched an interesting documentary of the guy who started Hyundai.

he started out make large cross-ocean transport barges.

Then decided, " I want to start making cars." And then just started making cars up out of nowhere by figuring it out as he went along.

that would probably explain why Hyundai was kind of bad 20 years ago, but continually got better since then.

Hyundai still makes ships - in fact they are one of the if not the biggest shipbuilder in the world. They are also in heavy industry and other things besides cars.

They also have chemical subsidiaries, banking, real estate, food, and more. One of the largest Chaebol's out there.

Thank you, i just looked one up on Youtube. It seems the conglomerate was forced to brake up as it over-extended itself.

Wait a minute. BMW and Mercedes do each about 2.5 million per year while Tesla 0.4 (2019)

I am really excited about this. Hyundai-Genesis are more than capable of producing reliable, technologically current, and, yes, fun cars. They are well managed and will be a good (non-CCP) partner for Apple.

Apple and Hyundai will reach a partnership agreement for the upcoming Apple Car by March, according to a new report shared by Reuters, citing Korea IT News.

Before being revised, the Korea IT News report said that the companies may either manufacture the electric vehicles at a Georgia factory owned by Kia Motors, a Hyundai Motor Group affiliate, or invest in a new facility in the United States that could produce up to 400,000 vehicles annually. The report also mentioned that a "beta version" of the Apple Car could be released in 2022.

Reuters last month reported that Apple Car production may begin around 2024, and that time frame was again echoed in today's report. A 2024 start of production may be a bit ambitious, as a report from Bloomberg last week said that the Apple Car is "nowhere near production stage" and could be ready in around five to seven years.

Rumors that Apple is in negotiations with Hyundai first surfaced last week‌, suggesting that Apple is planning to work with the automaker to produce electric vehicles and develop batteries due to the high costs of the technology and the necessary production facilities.

Hyundai initially confirmed its electric vehicle discussions with Apple in a statement to CNBC, but the statement was revised hours later with no mention of Apple.

Sad to see they don’t invest in American car makers. Very sad.

Think they'll throw in more iCloud storage if you buy the car? Can't imagine how large the backup files would be! :p

How does Hyundai not get this yet?
Apple deals are in a quantum state.
If you annouce an Apple deal, the deal is off.

Ps. I love that the guy from 2010 is the "macrumors newbie".

I don't like that Apple is trying to be in every business that it can be. I want them to just focus on making the best computers. The phone, watch, tablet - these are all computing devices. Why does Apple need to make hardware that has nothing to do with computers? I know there will probably be some kind of computer in the car, but it's not really the same thing.

Same thing with HomePod, like I just don't see why they need to be making that when there are several other companies they could partner with on design who make the exact same product. Apple fans will tell you that the HomePod is the best smart speaker they have every owned or whatever, but everyone knows there is really nothing unique about the product, it's just a good rendition of the same thing made by several other companies such as Sonos, Bose, JBL, etc. I understand some projects like AirPods - since they are so essential to using the iPhone that it would feel strange of Apple didn't have their own product in that line.
the company is very huge now, its a 2trillion+ dollar company. sticking to just computer will make it stagnant and cars are getting more electronics/robotics. its not like they change to food company.

You seriously want an Apple car when iPhone batteries keep getting thinner and don’t even last an entire day? That’s a scary thought.

Apple car to use software to extend batteries 😂. Bionic A1000 chip gives you 50 more miles of travel and we were able to reduce the battery size for weigh. Lol 😂 However using All the cars features will reduce battery consumption and keep that screen on reduced brightness to save even more miles. 😂

There is so much groundwork that is involved that there is no way the public wouldn't know about an Apple car years in advance.
And Hyundai is a good candidate for such an endeavor. They are part of a huge conglomerate that builds cars, ships, railway vehicles, factory equipment, defense systems, electronics among other things.
Why wouldn’t Apple work with such an company?
Because their cars are cheap junk
