Bye bye MagSafe :( Probably going to be lots of broken ports now if people trip over your cord.

And your post just made me think of another issue with the one port design, if that one port has a problem you are out of luck with saving anything on your computer. With my current computer if it starts to slowly die and ports go out I at least can use another one to recover data, here though if the one port dies it's finished.

The macbook air INTEL HD6000 is more powerful than the new Macbook with that ridiculous HD5300 that is in performance next to the old HD4000

It's almost biblical - Apple giveth, then it taketh away. :D

"here's that retina screen you've been asking for, but err, you won't be needing these ports any more..."

Yea... Apple has been making a lot of odd decisions for a number of years now. This is evidenced by the extremely poor performance of their stock market valuation. Oh, wait... :D

I'll have to try the keyboard and see how cumbersome the port adapters are, but I like what I'm seeing so far. I'm also glad to see that most of the rest of the current MBx line-up got a spec bump as well in case the 12" isn't to my liking.

Don't the processors seems pretty weak? I love the physical design though.

...and I don't know if I'm sold on a non-magnetic charger. Mag-safe was the best feature of the way Mac notebooks charge. It saved me from destroying my computer a LOT of times.

They will sell a ton of these things, especially as they get into stores where people can get their hands on them. Most people don't need the connectivity day in and day out, there's an adapter if you need one, and because it's usb-c, 3rd party adapters and docks will become a dime a dozen.

This thing is underwhelming and overpriced. Maybe next generation I'll be interested.

Retina Macbook Pro 13 2015 is MUCH more worth it right now.

I agree 100%.

It's not that much more money and it has a better CPU, better Retina resolution, more ports, Magsafe and a glowy Apple on the back!

How will this perform in comparison to my Mid 2012 MacBook Air? I have a 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 8 GB of RAM. I use my current machine for web browsing, email, streaming video and music, viewing photos, editing documents, and other misc tasks without any performance hiccups.

The nice thing is it is a standard port so there will be a lot of reasonably priced adapters within the next 6 months. That doesn't help for right now but going forward, it's a good move on Apple's part.

I guess this is the only good thing about the new power adapter. I said I would never buy this new macbook if it had only one port, I may change my mind if there are good third party adapters.

It's great compared with an iPad, as it does a great deal more... But the price makes it quite a premium for its compact size and high quality build. It's probably intended more for a 95% web browser or office suite environment, where it likely excels.

Curious to see how the CPU handles. Wish there was a 14" model.

I wonder if the power cable will have a passthrough so that you can connect other devices while charging it. Also, how do you connect it to other devices, like USB, VGA connections, HDMI, etc. How many adaptors will we need? I work in a school, and we usually reimage them during the summer. We usually do this over ethernet or thunderbolt. Plus, we have kids who use flash drives. It'll take a while to learn how to adapt.

If a company doesn't come out with a 3rd party power adapter with an in-line mDP/HDMI, Standard USB x2, Ethernet, and SDXC ports in the power brick or as a module before the actual brick in the first 2-3 months, I will.

I don't see cable connectivity as being a problem at all, USB 3.1 can do all of that.

I think this is the beginning of the end of Thunderbolt for Apple.

Beautiful piece of technology here. I can't wait to see the reviews to see how the little core M performs in day to day tasks. For my personal use case, an MBP is overkill. All I do is office work, large complicated spreadsheets, web based finance tools, and email with my work machine. The 2011 11" Air in my sig has done this flawlessy for 4 years, but I am ready for more space on the monitor for work, will probably runs this at a scaled resolution and not the full hPD.

Love that they brought back the MacBook moniker too. The last one was the last all plastic Apple laptop. This one is the first all metal Apple laptop. Definitely getting gold to match my iPhone and iPad.

Thunderbolt Display?

How do you connect this to a Thunderbolt display??

They say the USB-C port has DisplayPort built it, but the adapters on the Apple store only have VGA or HDMI output options (and cost $79!).

I never knew that my iBook from 2002 had a fan until I left it sitting on the carpet all night... woke up to it blasting its fan to keep cool.

Finally got the Black Bezel!!

Never liked the Silver one on the Airs... Wish it had 16GB Ram, but this will do. Can't wait.

When do pre-orders begin??

Apple makes a mistake?? maybe they have HD6300 and not 5300??

I got my wife a new MacBook Air last year - I hope she doesn't see this.

My wife needs a fully mobile computer for basic work and photos. She is a teacher whose school supplies her with an unusable netbook.

I don't get the negativity in these posts.

This isn't a computer for me but it is perfect for my wife. That is why they still make the Macbook Air and the Macbook Pro.

Hope your wife doesn't see this!
