Well, I’m not a fan.
I’m good, man. Sounding like the MacRumors storm trooper. It sold #2 when it had a reason to exist, now it’s just there as an obligatory rung on their pricing ladder. We’ll see how it sells from here

It'll sell, Apple has done their research and the numbers talk. The whole "rung" has been that way since the 14/16 were announced and it still sold.
The fan didn’t make much of a difference with the M1 but maybe the M2 uses more power so you could get a bigger performance boost with the MBP. Also doesn’t have a notch, has better battery life, and has a touch bar.
I’ll be getting the MBA but I can see why the MBP would appeal to some people.

This is an ideal MacBook if you really miss the Touch bar and Id you don't want the Notch. The machine does contains all the latest internals.

It's an idea machine for lots of people beyond what you stated.
Should have called it the MacBook SE at this point.
I would have preferred a cheaper version of the 14" with an M2 chip. My bet is that is still coming when M2 Pro and M2 Max come around.

If you separate yourself from the mindset of those who are always online and looking for the cutting edge, it's not a bad investment. The latest chip with a quality body and the last remaining Touch Bar device, which is hit or miss depending on the individual. Easily something to last years.
I'd have considered it once upon a time, but I'm happy I ultimately went with my model for work purposes.

It's basically a MacBook Pro SE... same casing but with some upgraded internal components just like the iPhone SE

No wonder they didnt release the Air also, or the Air first...otherwise this M2 Mbp would not be a good seller

I think this has its place (edit: same 1299usd price when MBA is specced with equivalent 10gpu cores). If you prefer the Touch Bar, no notch, and best available battery life, at least you still have an option.

That's why Apple's making it available before the MBA. Get in some sales before people realize it's a poorer value proposition relative to the new M2 MBA and then make the M2 MBA available like a month later when it's too late to return this MBP
If rumors are to be believed, this model will probably be replaced by the 12" MacBook Pro in late 2023.
