Me: $299? Seriously.
Apple: Because we can!
Me: That is insane.
Apple: ____ you! You broke MFer, get the ____ up out the store before we call security!!!

Is this the MacBook the moaners are waiting for?

This is the most energy efficient MacBook ever made.

Unfortunately it also uses the slowest and most inefficient method of accessing data. But perhaps it's biggest problem is that it's data storage is Read Only Memory.

You have to buy a companion book to increase its storage, but the companion book (while considerably less expensive) is Write Once / Read Many material.

Unfortunately there is no way to interface the companion book with the MacBook, so data storage / retrieval and access is separate.

I'm a designer, and a $300 picture book of design work, with no context, no background info, no descriptions of the design process used to solve problems, really makes me hate my profession. I stopped going to design conferences when it seemed like all anyone was interested in presenting was pretty pictures of completed work.

Tell me about the problems. Tell me about the process. Tell me about the failures.

This is what I would want to see. I want to see someone sit down & show me early prototypes of the iPhone that more closely resembled a inch thick brick. Show me how they came up with the unibody construction of the 2008 MBP & Air. Show me how they were able to evolve the eMac & iMac when the industry was still firmly stuck on towers. Show me the projects that never made it to market because they never got them to succeed in the R&D labs. Show me how they came to create some of their biggest flops and how they genuinely were shocked that people did not like them. That is something I would pay for.

It's really not bad tbh. I've been using it for 4 years now. And with a app called "BetterTouchTool" the possibilities are huge. By swiping with 2 fingers, I can switch between tabs and close them. No need to CMD+W or hit the X in Safari or Finder.

A lot of people don't like the design, but it just takes some time to get used to it. Maybe if you got huge hands, I can imagine it being annoying.

My basketball hands are larger than most people's, but not so large as to be deemed 'huge'. In any case, nobody I've met has liked that mouse and there are 100+ people in my building, 90% of which are on Macs.

I find the video to be way more interesting than a static book. An animated ebook would have been so much better even if I don't mind them releasing a paper book.

A book filled with pictures of Apple products, sold by Apple... for $300?

Maybe I'm missing something or I'm REALLY not their target market, although I was for a loyal customer for around 3 decades.

Apple is changing how we buy books and read. I always thought $10 books were cheap and ignored them. Now that they cost $200, I want to read now.

Id' just like to remind you all that those of us that went to college spent this much on a single book before that was absolutely useless. Just some perspective.

i really want this book but 300 dollars?
I'm ok with charging a premium price for it but come on, heck I think even $200 would have been too much.

$150 and I would have bought it now.

Those college books had an actual purpose that helped build a future for someone. These Apple books do nothing of the sort other then show off what Apple used to be.

Yeah, I spent money like that on books for college courses because those books tend to be "required". This book released by Apple is clearly not the same situation.

Apple sells MORE because Apple is expensive. Giorgio Armani said that price is part of the design. If Apple products (this book included) weren't expensive, they wouldn't be as coveted. And of course, the brilliance of that is that the prices are high, but not unattainably so, therefore enabling the masses to have them.

I've been asked many times what it took to charge almost as much for pictures of our products as we charge for the products themselves. In a word, courage.
