As far as I know, Apple only ever published one book, and that was the 10th Anniversary book given to employees:

It too is a collectable, though it has not held up as well as the Kunkel, which I paid $30 for. I think I paid almost $75 for "So Far", and it's not really escalated in value like the Kunkel has ... nor is it as interesting a book (see my Apple filter comment above).

Actually, I just sold my last good copy for $40 shipped - that's about what they're worth now.

(I kept my last, less than perfect copy - definitely more about the users than about the machines).

Another good one is this one:

"Keep It Simple"

https://www.amazon.com/Keep-Simple-...8&qid=1479241015&sr=8-4&keywords=apple+design

Another good book about Apple prototypes. I got a couple a while back, when for some reason, Amazon was getting rid of them for $5 last year... I know, a bit confused.

Does anybody know if it's going to be on a yearly refresh cycle or will they screw us over by making us wait 18 months for the next gen? 2nd generations of Apple products are usually the best but I'm getting the itchy "buy" finger. Trying to decide whether to get one now or wait.

Yeah, $50 seems more reasonable for something like this - even $75. Not sure who would be willing to pay $200 for it.

Maybe because the high-gloss finish of the Book is achieved through a precision nine-step anodisation and polishing process. A case is recommended.

Nah don't get it, it sucks. It just has 450 photographs, "pro admirers" needs at least 900 photographs.
And the pages are clued into the book cover, means we can't replace the pages by ourselves.
These greedy scumbags, won't get our money!

E.g. the Dell XPS 15 manual has over 450 pages, comes even with readable text, and beautiful hand drawn illustrations.
Better get a XPS 15 manual instead it's much better.

1) That price speaks volumes (haha) about the current mentality (and disconnect with reality) at Apple.

2) Is anyone surprised that they are "white on white" and thus difficult to read? (I'm assuming that's the actual design).

That's lovely, but as someone who doesn't work in the RF and Microwave industry, form comes very high up my list of wants. Otherwise I'd buy a Panasonic Toughbook, drive a Nissan Leaf, wear 'easy iron' polyester clothing and get my haircut at that really cheap barbers on the corner.

But I prefer to drive a luxurious car, wear fashionable clothes, have a good haircut and carry a MacBook. Which is why I'd never buy that battery case. Regardless of how well it performs.

And I suspect a lot of Apple consumers are similar to me.

Despite me saying once directly and once through implication that it isn't for everyone, you still felt the need to reply with this. I was just pointing out what makes it so not "Mind boggling."

Enjoy your luxury car and pretentious disposition. I appreciate your tax money on every purchase! ;-)

Those college books had an actual purpose that helped build a future for someone. These Apple books do nothing of the sort other then show off what Apple used to be.

I think you missed the point. I have spent a lot of money on college books I barely used and did just fine in the class.
[doublepost=1479245906][/doublepost]
Yeah, I spent money like that on books for college courses because those books tend to be "required". This book released by Apple is clearly not the same situation.
Precisely , so why bash anyone for choosing to spend money on something. Some people like to buy expensive cars when in the end a junker could still get you from point A to B.

If someone finds value in this kind of thing (many designers do) then WHO CARES!?

Apple should try releasing a computer that is relevant for professionals or at least update the internal hardware to not be 4+ years old instead of making $300 dollar books.

Que hipster walking around with a $300 dollar mac book.

Give me a break. Apple has tons of circumstances where for example apps like the remote app (true story) was made by ONE PERSON. Im sure a couple people worked on this as a side project. A side project that had no bearing on current products.

Btw. now you know why Apple occasionally were buying very old hardware back from users.
Iirc there was few headlines regarding this.

A while ago, in a Cupertino boardroom:
Phil: Tim where is Joni, we need to get over the MBPro design. The press found out that we left some spare room in there.
Tim: Use it for a bigger battery or bring back the headphone jack.
Phil: That jack is still there. It's not an iPhone! But there is a truckload of room left for a USB-3 port !
Tim: Crazyness to bring back that ancient port.
Phil: Well there are a trillion devices across 5 continents using it. So we need Joni to recall that decision.
Tim: Haven't seen him for 3 months now. Normally he would return from some University laureate every other week and be well-humored enough to talk to.
Phil: Gee, his room is locked again. But I hear a moaning sound...
Tim: Oh my god. He's busy with himself again. Better not disturb...?
Phil: Last time I came in there, he had been Youtubeing his own movies for 18 hours.
Room temperature had gone up dramatically. Really frightening.
Tim: I guess we must allow him The Book. His temper is terrible. Nothing comes out of his hands anymore. I am afraid something dramatic will happen otherwise.
Phil: Allow him a second Bentley, home, driver, bonus...third, fourth, whatever.
Tim: Well, that might work with you - as I found out. But Joni is different.
He needs his appreciation reconfirmed at a rate of 20 times a week now. And in public...
Phil: Well, then unlimited Youtube self-recreation auto-repeats are not enough.
Tim: No, he wants his own newspaper but let's allow him The Book. Price it high, it will rise our profile anyway.
And if nobody can afford it, we have a premium product on our own shelves.
Phil: But still, that's all legacy...where is our future ?
Tim: The future is wireless...so we need a book.
Never mind, the future gets me soooo excited anyway, I can't find the pipeline anymore...
I guess we need Steve Ballmer to get rid of that obsessive pile of money we are dwelling - from everywhere.

My basketball hands are larger than most people's, but not so large as to be deemed 'huge'. In any case, nobody I've met has liked that mouse and there are 100+ people in my building, 90% of which are on Macs.

It's probably for a small amount of people. I love mine. To each his own ;)
